The 68-year-old American rock legend recently began chemotherapy in France for prostate cancer, just years after undergoing treatment for throat surgery, his wife Catherine said in a GoFundMe fundraiser. “The treatment is essential and cannot be interrupted,” she wrote. “Because of an administrative error linked to our marriage registration, the health insurance system placed Chris under ‘emergency only’ coverage.” Holmes, who resides in France with his wife, was forced to “wait three months before receiving any care at all, and only the radiotherapy given during the month of July is covered,” Catherine revealed. “Everything else falls to us,” she added, listing hormone therapy, scans and PET scans, biopsies, blood tests, and daily trips to and from the hospital. Meanwhile, in this decade—you know, the one that’s only six years old—we’ve already had three writers handling Wally’s ongoing adventures: Jeremy Adams got two years, Si Spurrier got two, and Ryan North took over back in March. Unlike Waid, who built on the groundwork Messner-Loebs had laid out, all three of this decade’s runs have been wildly tonally different. Every new writer functionally means a reset to Wally’s story, literally in the case of Spurrier, whose run launched with a new #1. They have all written interesting, creative, ambitious stories—but they’ve also written almost totally disconnected stories. Oh, and while this was happening, we also got a Flash/Aquaman miniseries, Voidsong, about a completely different Flash (Barry Allen) that was impossible to place into continuity. A new study by Galop using anonymised case notes from its frontline support services reveals the stark lived reality of LGBT+ victims and survivors who have been subjected to conversion practices. Humanists UK is alarmed by the report’s findings, and says the recently published draft Bill for England and Wales, alongside the Private Member’s Bill introduced in Northern Ireland, must deliver comprehensive protection for all LGBT+ people, without loopholes for religion or supposed ‘consent’. Conversion practices remain a present-day threat Galop’s report, Still Not Illegal, draws evidence from 195 cases collected over three years, from 2022 to 2025. In some cases, the abuse was still taking place when the victim or survivor contacted Galop. The study shows how attempts to change, ‘cure’, or suppress a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity are often concealed within broader patterns of coercive control or religious pressure. It demonstrates the urgent need for a comprehensive legislative ban on conversion practices as current harms experienced by LGBT+ people remain insufficiently recognised in law. SINGAPORE: The police and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) have opened investigations after British trip-hop band Massive Attack expressed support for the Palestinians at their concert in Singapore on Wednesday (Jul 29). “Police confirm that reports were lodged and investigations are ongoing,” the police and IMDA said on Thursday in response to CNA queries. “IMDA is also investigating a possible breach of license conditions.” The band shouted “Free Palestine” during their performance at The Star Performing Arts Centre, prompting many audience members to join in the chant, a concertgoer who asked not to be identified told CNA. Videos circulating online also showed two band members holding a Palestinian flag on stage while the crowd cheered. Singapore does not allow the public display of foreign national emblems without a permit or exemption. Offenders may be fined up to S$500 (US$387), face up to six months’ jail, or both.
