David Paul Morris | Bloomberg | Getty Images Defense contracting giant L3Harris Technologies ousted CEO Chris Kubasik on Sunday after learning he engaged in “certain conduct … that was not consistent with the values of the Company,” the company said in a statement on Monday. L3Harris’s board appointed Sam Mehta as CEO and president, the company said. Mehta most recently was the company’s president of the Space & Mission Systems and Communications & Spectrum Dominance segments. Shares of L3Harris fell by more than 4% on the heels of the news of Kubasik’s ouster, which “was unrelated to the Company’s financial reporting, controls, customer relationships or operational performance,” the company’s statement said. “Following its investigation of these matters with the assistance of independent counsel, the Board determined that it would be in the best interests of the Company to enter into a separation agreement with Kubasik,” the statement said. Kubasik’s ouster comes seven months after the Defense Department …

India’s ‘cockroach’ movement ousts education minister : NPR

A protester holds a placard after India’s Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned following nationwide protests as part of the Cockroach Janta Party’s protest movement in Mumbai, India on Saturday. Ashish Vaishnav/AP hide caption toggle caption Ashish Vaishnav/AP NEW DELHI — India’s education minister tendered his resignation on Saturday, meeting a key demand of students whose anti-government protests swelled this week beyond the capital New Delhi and onto the streets of more than a dozen cities. Following news of the resignation of the education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a spokesman for protest leaders Saurav Das, called on demonstrators — mostly students — to go home. He said the protests, which began in early June, would end “in good faith.”  The students held Pradhan responsible for a series of leaks in nationwide exams for university seats or government jobs, which millions of students take every year. The protests posed the most serious challenge to the 12-year rule of India’s Hindu nationalist prime minister Narendra Modi. For weeks, the government had ignored the protesters, then vilified them, with the …

White House aide Morgan DeWitt Snow sent the Democratic commissioners a brief email of termination around 4 p.m. ET, one of the people familiar with the dismissals said. “On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I’m writing to inform you that your position as Commissioner of the Election Assistance Commission is terminated effective immediately. Thank you for your service,” the person …

Hungary ousts Orban as Magyar’s party wins supermajority in parliament

Hungary ousts Orban as Magyar’s party wins supermajority in parliament

Hungarian voters on Sunday ousted long-serving Prime Minister Viktor Orban after 16 years in power, rejecting the authoritarian policies and global far-right movement that he embodied in favour of a pro-European challenger in a bombshell election result with global repercussions. It was a stunning blow for Orban – a close ally of both US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin – who quickly conceded defeat after what he called a “painful” election result. US Vice President JD Vance had made a visit to Hungary just days earlier, meant to help push Orban over the finish line. Election victor Peter Magyar, a former Orban loyalist who campaigned against corruption and on everyday issues like health care and public transport, has pledged to rebuild Hungary’s relationships with the European Union and NATO – ties that frayed under Orban. European leaders quickly congratulated Magyar. His victory was expected to transform political dynamics within the EU, where Orban had upended the bloc by frequently vetoing key decisions, prompting concerns he sought to break it up from the …
