Meta plans to make an AI pendant and more smart glasses soon

Meta is looking to give customers even more ways to wear its logo on their bodies. The Information reported that Mark Zuckerberg’s company is planning to develop and test an “AI pendant,” which would most likely be something you clip on and wear so that it can use an on-board microphone to record everything you say throughout the day for the purpose of generating AI summaries, just in case you ever need that. The description of the device is not entirely speculative, as Meta recently acquired a company called Limitless that was responsible for a device literally called “Pendant” that did exactly those things. Beyond that, The Information reported based on an internal Meta memo that the company plans on releasing several new pairs of smart glasses by the end of 2026, to go along with a possible enterprise-focused subscription service called “Wearables for Work.” The subscription part is not a surprise, given that the company just launched …

Apple’s AirTag-Sized AI Pendant: Five Features Rumored So Far

Apple’s AirTag-Sized AI Pendant: Five Features Rumored So Far

Apple is developing a wearable AI device that’s been described as a pin or pendant, and that could compete with a similar AI product coming from OpenAI’s Jony Ive. It wasn’t clear if the wearable would actually make it to launch because Apple sometimes cancels projects, but it is still in the works and could come as soon as next year. 1. It’ll Look Like an AirTag Apple’s design plans could change, but rumors suggest the device is a pin or pendant that looks similar to an AirTag. It’s been described as having a thin, flat, circular disc shape, with an aluminum and glass shell. A physical control button is included on one edge. Apple wants the final version of the device to be about the same size as an ‌AirTag‌, but because of the hardware inside, it could be thicker. It sounds like the wearable will be versatile. It could have a clip to attach to clothing like a pin, but there’s also supposedly a hole in the device so it can be worn …

Prehistoric child’s finger bone, bear tooth pendant, and more discovered in Spanish cave

Prehistoric child’s finger bone, bear tooth pendant, and more discovered in Spanish cave

The thin air and atmosphere make breathing and other bodily functions difficult—especially for humans. However, a cave over 7,000 feet above sea level in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain is forcing archaeologists to rethink how often our prehistoric ancestors made use of these heights.  A team found a cave in Spain full of hearths, jewelry, and human remains, indicating that people may have been living at this incredibly high altitude as long as 5,500 years ago. A child’s finger bone and a baby tooth discovered among the rock also means this cave may have been a burial site. The cave and its findings are detailed in a study published today in the journal Frontiers in Environmental Archaeology. For decades, archeologists believed that high-mountain environments like these were places that prehistoric communities only passed through occasionally. Cave 338 is 7,332 feet above sea level in Spain’s Núria Valley. The team dug through …

British Museum to keep pendant linked to Henry VIII after raising £3.5m | UK News

A gold pendant linked to Henry VIII and his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, has been acquired by the British Museum following a successful fundraising campaign. The London museum launched the appeal in October to buy the Tudor Heart – a 16th-century, heart-shaped pendant discovered in Warwickshire by a metal detectorist in 2019 – and prevent it from entering a private collection. It has now announced it has reached its £3.5m fundraising target, after receiving more than £350,000 in public contributions and a string of donations from grants, trusts, and arts organisations. More than 45,000 members of the public contributed to the fundraising effort, the museum said, while it received £1.75m from The National Heritage Memorial Fund. Other donors included The Julia Rausing Trust, which donated £500,000 to the cause, the charity Art Fund, which donated £400,000, and The American Friends of the British Museum, which gave £300,000. British Museum Raises $4.8 M. to Keep ‘Tudor Heart’ Pendant in UK

The British Museum announced that it has successfully raised £3.5 million ($4.8 million) to acquire the “Tudor Heart” pendant and keep the centuries-old object in the UK. The museum described the Tudor Heart as “unlike any object in the British Museum collection or elsewhere in the UK.” The 24-carat-gold pendant, which is accompanied by a 75-link gold chain, is currently the only known piece of jewelry to survive from the period of Henry VIII’s reign during his 24-year marriage to his first wife, Katherine of Aragon. Related Articles The British Museum first began its fundraiser last October after securing a £500,000 donation from the Julia Rausing Trust. The museum also launched a public appeal to which anyone could donate toward the remaining £3 million needed to acquire it. The museum also tapped actor Damian Lewis to help with its campaign. Over 45,000 people donated to the campaign, with their combined contributions totaling £380,000 ($519,000), or over 10 percent of the total needed. Additional donations included £400,000 from the Art Fund and £300,000 from the American …

Metal detectorist finds medieval pendant with a Roman ‘secret’

Metal detectorist finds medieval pendant with a Roman ‘secret’

A discovery on a farm in Essex, England, is a bit of an archaeological version of the 2010 film Inception. In September 2024, a metal detectorist scouring a farm about 45 miles northeast of London found a silver, oval pendant measuring about one-inch-long. The piece included an inscribed frame of mirrored Latin text that allowed for wax impressions. Once pressed onto the malleable material, the phrase “SECRETVM.RICARDI” (“Richard’s secret” or “Richard’s secret seal”) would appear next to a tiny cross symbol commonly seen across medieval Christian art. Based on its location, appearance, and condition, experts believe that the jewelry dates somewhere between 1200–1400 CE.  The pendant’s red gemstone centerpiece was already an antique itself at the time of the jewelry’s creation, however. Etched similarly to its silver enclosure, a gem depicted a racing chariot that would also appear as a raised scene in wax seals. According to archaeologists, the inset was previously crafted during the Augustan era of the …
