Christie’s Names François-Henri Pinault Chairman

Last week, as much of the art world was focused on the marquee sales in New York, Christie’s announced a major change to its leadership in London. The auction house appointed François-Henri Pinault as board chairman and non-executive director. Pinault is the son of French billionaire François Pinault and the president of Groupe Artémis, the long-time parent company of Christie’s. Artémis is also the parent company of the Pinault Collection, the 10,000-work collection of the Pinault family, as well as several private museums: the Bourse de Commerce in Paris and the Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana in Venice. Related Articles François-Henri Pinault is known for turning the elder Pinault’s Pinault-Printemps-Redoute into the luxury giant Kering, which owns Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga, among other brands. The elder Pinault purchased Christie’s in 1998 for $1.2 billion; he remains honorary chair at the company. Guillaume Cerutti, ex-Christie’s CEO, Out as Pinault Collection President

Guillaume Cerutti, the former CEO of Christie’s auction house, has left his position at the Pinault Collection after just 13 months, the French investigative news outlet Glitz reported earlier this week. In February 2025, Cerutti became president of the collection owned by French billionaire François Pinault. In addition to the 10,000 works in its holdings, the Pinault Collection also maintains several private museums: the Bourse de Commerce in Paris and the Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana in Venice, which regularly stage exhibitions. The Paris location opened in 2021, while the Venice outposts opened in 2006 and 2007, respectively. Pinault also owns Venice’s Teatrino, a 225-seat auditorium that reopened in 2013 after a renovation by Tadao Ando, who also worked on the other two Venice spaces. Related Articles Neither Cerutti nor the Pinault Collection has commented on his departure, with a spokesperson telling the Art Newspaper there are no plans to appoint a new president or an interim. China’s Anta Sports has offered to buy Pinault family’s 29% Puma stake, sources say

HONG KONG: China’s Anta Sports Products has offered to buy 29 per cent of struggling German sportswear firm Puma from France’s Pinault family, three people with knowledge of the talks said. Anta made the offer a few weeks ago and has secured financing for the acquisition should a deal go ahead, said two of the sources. However, the situation had stalled, one added. Artemis had been expecting any offer for its Puma stake to exceed 40 euros a share, a ‌fourth person with knowledge of the matter told Reuters. All four sources ‌spoke on condition of anonymity because the matter is private.  Artemis is run by Francois-Henri Pinault, chairman of Kering, which includes fashion house Gucci among its brands. The Pinault family acquired its Puma stake from Kering when it transformed the conglomerate into a pure luxury player in 2018. Artemis and Puma declined to comment. Anta did not immediately reply to a request for comment.  Puma shares rose as much as 9 per cent after the Reuters report, ‍hitting their highest level since May …
