KUALA LUMPUR: Six men, including a senior police officer, were arrested on Wednesday (Apr 8) over their alleged involvement in three armed robberies targeting wealthy foreign nationals, with losses from the heists estimated at RM4.4 million (US$1.1 million). The senior police officer purportedly acted as the coordinator in the heists, allegedly impersonated police officers to gain access to victims’ homes in Kepong in the early hours on Sunday (Apr 5), Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus told local news outlets at a press conference on Wednesday.  The suspects reportedly stole three luxury cars – a Toyota Alphard, a Rolls-Royce and a Bentley – and a safe containing RM24,200 and US$1,200 in cash, assorted jewellery and gold bars, according to local news publication The Star. The victims include two Chinese nationals – a man and woman – and an Indonesian woman, aged between 29 and 52, said the police chief. “One of the suspects allegedly threatened the victims with an object resembling a pistol,” Fadil was quoted saying in a Malay Mail report. A Swedish prosecutor charged a man on Monday with aggravated pimping, assault and multiple rapes after he allegedly sold his wife’s sexual services to over 120 men. The 62-year-old man was arrested in late October after his wife reported him to police in northern Sweden, and he has been held in custody since then. According to the charge sheet, the man had for years benefitted financially from pressuring his wife “to perform and submit to sexual acts”. The man was accused of creating ads online, setting up meetings, keeping guard and pressuring the woman to perform sexual acts online in order to attract more clients. He was also accused of being violent and threatening her, exploiting her fear of him and taking advantage of her drug addiction in what the prosecutor said was “ruthless exploitation”. A “selfless” police officer has died in the line of duty. Police officer Bradley Corke, 27, was killed in a car crash near Farningham on Thursday while responding to an “immediate call”, Kent Police said. He died on Saturday following the incident. He and a colleague, who remains critically ill in hospital, were on call when their marked police car was in the crash. A member of the public who was in a second vehicle continues to be treated for serious injuries. The force said in a statement: “Bradley selflessly gave up his life while trying to save the lives of others who were in danger. “His bravery, dedication, and passion for helping others will not be forgotten.” Kent Police Federation, which represents the rank and file, said PC Bradley Corke’s colleagues were “devastated”.
