Apple Inks Preliminary Chip Agreement With Intel Amid Shortages, Report Says

Apple may be the world’s largest consumer tech company, but even it sometimes has to look elsewhere when items on its shopping list are simply unavailable.  The company looks like it may be a step closer to filling its cart with Intel-manufactured chips, if a report in Friday’s Wall Street Journal is correct. The update follows a Bloomberg report earlier this week that Apple was considering additional semiconductor suppliers, including Samsung and Intel, to ameliorate its current supply woes. Apple has been facing an unprecedented strain on its chip supply, thanks to fab-capacity shortfalls affecting the entire tech industry due to competing (and more lucrative) data center and enterprise needs for AI computing power.  Read more: Tech Companies Are Freaking Out About RAMageddon TSMC, Apple’s primary supplier of silicon for its M5 and A19 series chips used in Macs and iPhones, is one of the world’s most advanced foundries and, therefore, in high demand.  The timing of an agreement makes sense. On its earnings call on April 23, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan said the company is …

Judge allows Arizona gambling case against Kalshi, denying preliminary injunction

A federal judge is letting Arizona press ahead with its gambling case against a federally regulated prediction market, rejecting an urgent bid from Kalshi to halt enforcement while the broader legal fight plays out. In an order dated Wednesday (April 8), U.S. District Judge Michael T. Liburdi pointed to the tension between fast-moving tech and slower-moving regulation, writing that “technology often sprints faster than the law can keep pace.” He denied Kalshi’s requests for both a preliminary injunction and a temporary restraining order, clearing the way for state authorities to continue their case. Kalshi seeks preliminary injunction as tribes oppose Arizona betting crackdown

Kalshi is asking a federal judge in Arizona to step in and halt state enforcement actions targeting its event-based trading platform. The move ramps up a growing legal fight over whether Kalshi’s contracts should be treated as legitimate financial products or illegal sports betting. The company’s request is based on a preliminary injunction that would block Arizona officials from continuing what Kalshi describes as a criminal case tied to its platform. In a reply brief filed Tuesday (March 31), the prediction market platform argues the state is crossing a line by trying to regulate activity it says falls squarely under federal commodities law. Preliminary Inquiry Finds U.S. Responsible for Iran School Attack

new video loaded: Preliminary Inquiry Finds U.S. Responsible for Iran School Attack transcript Back transcript Preliminary Inquiry Finds U.S. Responsible for Iran School Attack An ongoing report determined that the United States was responsible for a Tomahawk missile strike that killed at least 175, most of them children, according to the preliminary findings of a Pentagon investigation. You just suggested that Iran somehow got its hands on a Tomahawk and bombed its own elementary school on the first day of the war. But you’re the only person in your government saying this. Even your defense secretary wouldn’t say that when he was asked, standing over your shoulder on your plane on Saturday. Why are you the only person saying this? Because I just don’t know enough about it. I think it’s something that I was told is under investigation. But Tomahawks are used by others, as you know. Numerous other nations have Tomahawks. They buy them from us. “As commander in chief, do you take responsibility for that?” “That is — what?” “As commander in …
