A new fleet of British-designed and built battery electric trains has been announced, promising thousands of new jobs, faster and more reliable rail service, and significant reductions in carbon emissions across northern England. Often the butt of jokes for its frequent delays and confusing ticketing practices, the British rail system is set to receive a significant upgrade thanks to a broader series of transit contracts totaling more than €1.2 billion. Those upgrades will see Alstom and TransPennine Express will deploy 29 fully electric Adessia Stream electric trains, which will be the first of their kind to be put to work on long-distance mainline journeys in the UK when they go into service in 2034. “This agreement is a landmark moment for Britain’s railway, and we couldn’t be prouder that the country’s first mainline battery-electric trains will be designed and built in Britain,” said Rob Whyte, Managing Director UK at Alstom. “The fleet will transform journeys across northern England while showcasing the very best of British engineering, innovation and advanced manufacturing.” The British government says the …

While this approach works well for isolated assistants and copilots, it treats enterprise knowledge as application-specific context rather than a shared enterprise asset. As organizations deploy more AI applications and agents, this model begins to break down. Different teams process the same documents, maintain separate embeddings and indexes, and create inconsistent representations of the same business knowledge. The challenge is no longer simply providing context to AI systems — it is managing enterprise knowledge itself. Why building context is not enough for enterprise AI The common approach to enterprise AI today is to build context for individual applications. Teams connect enterprise systems, process the required information, generate retrieval representations such as chunks and embeddings, and assemble the context an agent needs at runtime. Marc Rosenblum, the top statistician at the Department of Homeland Security for more than a decade, resigned in frustration in late July. Three years ago, he established the Office of Homeland Security Statistics, with support from lawmakers from both parties, to provide Congress and the broader public with reliable, timely statistics on immigration enforcement and other homeland-security trends free of political interference. When President Trump returned, that effort was doomed. During the past year and a half, as the White House directed DHS to run the largest deportation campaign in history, Trump officials blocked Rosenblum’s team from publishing monthly reports. The office’s website went stale, and its immigration-enforcement tables became frozen in 2024, as if nothing has happened since then. But Tello’s latency was significantly higher in general—not enough to affect a game of Royal Match, but maybe you have higher demands. The download speeds were also lower for Tello in any given location, but not by a whole lot. At home, my cellular 5G data speeds tend to run at about 800 to 900 megabits a second on T-Mobile.
