Why Rick McIntyre Is the Go-To Guy for All Things Wolves

Why Rick McIntyre Is the Go-To Guy for All Things Wolves

Extremely few people have had a life like that of award-winning wolf expert Rick McIntyre, author of the “Alpha Wolves of Yellowstone” series for adults and “The Chronicles of the Yellowstone Wolves” series for kids with co-author David A. Poulsen.1 Celebrated as the most prolific wolf observer in the world—called “the ultimate guru of wolf behavior” by Jane Goodall—with more than 100,000 sightings of wild wolves, his new book My Life With Wolves: How I Became the Storyteller for the Yellowstone Packs is a most-welcomed, more personal addition to this outstanding series. The description of his fascinating book tells it all, and I’m thrilled that Rick could take the time to offer more insights into his amazing life and the wolves he studied. “This book chronicles Rick’s journey, explains his values, and brings readers up to date on the latest dramas of the Junction Butte pack in Yellowstone. Along the way, this tale is threaded through with Rick’s calm assertiveness in the face of conflict, his wise dealings with humans and animals alike, and his …

Michèle Lamy, Fashion Iconoclast, on Striptease, Artificial Intelligence, Rick Owens, and Zohran Mamdani

Michèle Lamy, Fashion Iconoclast, on Striptease, Artificial Intelligence, Rick Owens, and Zohran Mamdani

“Those visions of the astronauts,” she says, referring to Artemis II and the photos of our planet they shared, “were absolutely incredible, but you could see [against] the pictures of Earth in ’72 from Apollo [17], the Earth is now, grayer,” she says. “I mean, wake up. It’s crazy. It’s in front of everybody’s eyes, and then there’s [some] trying to kill populations for oil. It’s very disturbing,” she says. “A life achievement award… you always think that your voice, or what you do, you express it and it’s going in the right direction, but right now it’s a failure.” Yet Lamy is still hopeful. “But I can never give up,” she says. “There are people who have been fighting all the time, and we are expressing ourselves.” Only at the tail end of our conversation does fashion come up as a topic. I ask her what she makes of the way the industry has changed. She first mentions Owens’s shows and Rei Kawakubo’s for Comme des Garçons as good examples of self-expression in fashion. …

St. John’s Athletic Director Says Coach Rick Pitino Has Signed New Deal With Contract Extension

St. John’s Athletic Director Says Coach Rick Pitino Has Signed New Deal With Contract Extension

NEW YORK (AP) — St. John’s says Hall of Fame basketball coach Rick Pitino has signed a new agreement that will keep him under contract with the school through the end of this decade. Pitino was hired in March 2023 and given a six-year contract through 2029. Several media outlets, citing anonymous sources, reported Sunday his restructured deal includes an additional year through the 2029-30 season and a raise that will make him the second-highest paid coach in the Big East behind Dan Hurley at UConn. “We’re thrilled that Coach Pitino has signed a new agreement to remain at St. John’s, a deal that will keep him in Queens through the end of the decade,” athletic director Ed Kull said in a statement. “This extension reflects our strong confidence in his leadership, vision, and commitment to our student-athletes. “Coach Pitino has changed the culture of our community and we want his presence to be felt on this campus for years to come. We look forward to more Big East championships and NCAA Tournament runs with …

Rick Pitino Has Seen and Done It All in Hoops. He’s Doing It Again for St. John’s in March Madness

Rick Pitino Has Seen and Done It All in Hoops. He’s Doing It Again for St. John’s in March Madness

SAN DIEGO (AP) — When Dylan Darling drove the lane and beat the buzzer with a thrilling layup last Sunday to send St. John’s to its first Sweet 16 of the 21st century, Rick Pitino did not celebrate in the moment. While his players exploded off the bench and tackled Darling in front of the St. John’s band at Viejas Arena, an expressionless Pitino touched the lapel of his sharp suit and stoically walked the other way, alongside the crushed Jayhawks, to shake hands with Bill Self, his fellow Hall of Fame coach. Pitino’s muted response in an impossibly dramatic NCAA Tournament moment went viral. It was a reaction rooted in a half-century of experience in a job where the pain of loss is almost always stronger than the pleasure of victory, and Pitino’s empathy for Kansas and Self was praised. Yet as Pitino will tell anybody who asks, he’s still having the time of his life this season with the Red Storm (30-6), who are headed to Washington this week to take on top-seeded …

The Real-Life Wardrobe of Thundercat, Who ‘Fangirled Hard’ at a Rick Owens Show

The Real-Life Wardrobe of Thundercat, Who ‘Fangirled Hard’ at a Rick Owens Show

When I ask Thundercat what his life was like before music, he shrugs. “There is nothing prior to music,” the funk virtuoso tells me. Fair enough. Thundercat, born Stephen Lee Bruner, is a Grammy-award winning bassist was raised in Compton in a household full of drummers—his father was a drummer for some of Motown’s finest acts, and his mother was also a percussionist and flautist. His brother, Ronald Bruner Jr., has played for Kamasi Washington, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar; both Bruner brothers appeared on To Pimp a Butterfly. So, why did Thundercat gravitate towards the bass? “That’s a million-dollar question,” he quips. “I don’t know, maybe I just didn’t want to do what everybody else was doing in the house.” After some years of studio work playing for others, Thundercat blossomed into a solo artist, releasing his debut studio album, The Golden Age of Apocalypse, in 2011. His music is complex, funky, challenging yet accessible, and owes its sound to his myriad influences taken from the historically rich tones of black music: jazz, hip-hop, …

‘Rick and Morty’ Season 9 Gets Premiere Date, Promises ‘No AI Slop’

‘Rick and Morty’ Season 9 Gets Premiere Date, Promises ‘No AI Slop’

Rick and Morty is back with a new batch of episodes that Adult Swim pledges are among its best yet. The acclaimed hit comedy will return for season nine on Sunday, May 24. “I know it’s my job to say that this show just keeps topping itself, but it also has the benefit of being true,” said Michael Ouweleen, president of Adult Swim. “It’s kind of scary what this show unit is doing season over season — just pouring an absurd amount of talent and brilliance into these episodes. From the first frame, you’re going to see great high‑concept insanity with some of the best character writing ever done. Again, it’s my job to say that, but it’s also true.” The season’s official description: “Rick and Morty is back, baby! Season Nine is all certified bangers. No AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. Please watch, or we’ll have neglected our families for nothing.” The idea that season nine will be a return …

The fundraiser, launched by his friend Aron Chambers, said Corey had been left with more than $100,000 in expenses after a serious motorcycle accident in Tulum, Mexico, in January. The reality TV personality, 42, spent 14 days in hospital after suffering 11 fractured ribs, a punctured lung, a concussion, and internal bleeding from the crash. However, Rick has since claimed that he covered his son’s medical expenses. “I paid all of Corey’s medical bills long before he put the GoFundMe out,” he told Fox News Digital on Saturday. “He is a grown man in his 40s and is responsible for how he handles his finances.” open image in gallery Rick Harrison …

Rick Caruso on a LA Mayoral Bid, Spencer Pratt and Karen Bass Scandal

Rick Caruso on a LA Mayoral Bid, Spencer Pratt and Karen Bass Scandal

With one day left to declare candidacy in the race for Los Angeles mayor, all eyes are on Rick Caruso, the billionaire developer behind outdoor shopping meccas like The Grove. Caruso ran and narrowly lost to Karen Bass in the last election, then became a fierce critic of the mayor — never more so than in the aftermath of the devastating wildfires that wiped out the Pacific Palisades and Altadena in early 2025. Caruso famously hired private firefighters to save his Palisades Village, successfully sparing it from the flames. Bass, alternately, was in Ghana for a diplomatic trip as L.A. burned, a decision she later admitted to regretting. Caruso announced several weeks ago he would not be seeking public office. As the minutes tick away to the campaign deadline, however, chatter has grown that he could be lured back into the race. The chatter has grown even louder due to his outrage over a Los Angeles Times report that Bass — who is running for reelection — directed officials to soften details in a fires report, in …

I mean, cos I know we’re too good of players to do that…” He then apologized and said “I shouldn’t have said that…” The joke came as the coach was talking about some bad passes that had taken place This was an all-timer by Rick Barnes I asked him about the team’s heightened focus and it ends with him talking about certain questionable bad passes. “Sometimes I wonder if my guys are betting on games.” pic.twitter.com/1Q5Au3008b — Paige Dauer (@PaigeDauerFDP) February 1, 2026 Tennessee coach betting joke comes at a time when organizations are grappling with betting concerns While the coach was only joking, and …

Lessons in Creativity from Rick Rubin: Focus on Your Art, Not the Audience

Lessons in Creativity from Rick Rubin: Focus on Your Art, Not the Audience

If you’ve heard Run‑D.M.C.‘s Raising Hell, Rage Against the Machine’s self-titled debut, Johnny Cash’s American Recordings, or Adele’s 21, you’ve heard the work of Rick Rubin. Yet even if you’ve listened closely to every song on which he’s been credited as a producer over the past 45 years, you may have trouble pinning down what, exactly, the work of Rick Rubin is. Though his résumé includes such professional achievements as co-founding both Def Jam Recordings and American Recordings, as well as sharing the presidency of Columbia Records for a stretch, he’s become best known in recent years as a kind of barefoot sage of creativity. Rubin has proven ready to dispense sometimes-cryptic wisdom in whatever contexts he finds himself, and in the twenty-twenties, that role naturally involves appearing on a lot of long-form interview podcasts. For Rubin in particular, the publication of his book The Creative Act: A Way of Being constituted an incentive — or perhaps an excuse — to take a seat across from popular podcasters like Lex Fridman, Jay Shetty, and Andrew Huberman. …
