Scroll down to listen to the full podcast episode. Sussex security alert at Archie and Lilibet’s school Q: There have been reports of a security alert at Archie and Lilibet’s school in the UK. What happened? Emily Nash: “Hot off the press, another school story for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. This time it involves two men who were spotted carrying backpacks around the perimeter of the school. And don’t forget, this is the second school Archie and Lily have started out since moving to the UK. Prince Harry embraces Archie and Lilibet at home. A spokesperson for the Sussexes recently condemned “reckless” paparazzi behaviour near the children’s school, calling it an unacceptable intrusion into their young lives. “And of course, sparked huge security concerns. For anyone who’s not been following the UK news over the last week or so, there was a major security alert near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire over the weekend, which involved, again, some young men carrying backpacks and a white van. So this obviously sparked concerns and both private …

Prince William and Prince Harry would be ‘horrified and furious’ about Earl Spencer’s Diana book, royal expert claims

Prince William and Prince Harry will be feeling “horrified and furious” following the publication of Charles Spencer’s new book, a royal expert has claimed.  Speaking on the live recording of HELLO!‘s A Right Royal Podcast filmed at Quaglino’s, Ingrid Seward said that the Earl’s comments regarding King Charles will not have gone down well with his sons. Ingrid, who is the author of the new book, Catherine & Diana, told us: “I would think that they’re also absolutely horrified that their uncle should say something like that about their father. You know, he’s their father. “I think they would be absolutely horrified and furious.” © GettyPrince William and Harry will be feeling ‘horrified’ over the book’s claims about their father, says Ingrid Stewart Earl Spencer‘s memoir about Princess Diana, Swan Song: Diana, my Sister, was published on Tuesday to much controversy.  Among the claims in the book were allegations that the then-Prince Charles acted “giddily elated” following his ex-wife’s untimely death in a car crash in 1997, and told the Earl: “We’ll forget her soon …

Why King Charles’s statement about Prince Harry and Meghan showed ‘loyalty’ to Prince William

Why King Charles’s statement about Prince Harry and Meghan showed ‘loyalty’ to Prince William

King Charles‘s statement regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s royal status at the start of this week left the couple “surprised”, according to their spokesperson.  But how does it relate to the monarch’s eldest son, Prince William? HELLO!‘s royal editor Emily Nash analyses the remarkable letter, which confirmed the couple as “private citizens” and emphasised there was “no change” in their status as non-working royals, on the latest episode of A Right Royal Podcast, which lands on Friday.  Emily says it’s likely that Charles discussed the letter with William before it went out, and explains how it proved the King’s ultimate loyalty to his heir. © UK Press via Getty ImagesKing Charles would likely have discussed the letter with Prince William, says Emily Nash She says: “I think it’s hard to imagine a world in which Prince William and his father did not discuss the statement before it went out.  “Because he’s the heir, it’s relevant to the rest of his reign as well. I think it does show loyalty to William and the fact …

Sarah Ferguson’s real reason behind her sudden return to the UK

Sarah Ferguson’s real reason behind her sudden return to the UK

The former Duchess of York, 66, is said to be moving into a £10,000-a-month, six-bedroom gated property in the Home Counties after spending the last half a year unaccounted for, aside from being spotted twice in Austria and Switzerland.  But why is she choosing to finally return home now? Speaking on HELLO!‘s A Right Royal Podcast, royal editor Emily Nash believes there are a “couple of things” behind the not-so-coincidental timing.  Some reports have suggested that Sarah could be in line to inherit a sum of money from her late ex-boyfriend Paddy McNally, whose funeral Princess Beatrice attended last month, and who was seen by Fergie as a “father figure”.  She’s also newly a grandmother again, as younger daughter Princess Eugenie recently welcomed her third child, a baby girl named Adelaide.  Why Sarah Ferguson is returning to the UK now Emily says: “I think the fact that she’s come back now is really interesting. And there are a couple of things that could be behind it. “One, she may potentially have inherited some money from …

Will Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet ever be working royals? What the future holds for Prince Harry and Meghan’s children

Will Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet ever be working royals? What the future holds for Prince Harry and Meghan’s children

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left their royal duties back in 2020, and have since made a life for themselves with their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, in the States. According to royal author Simon Vigar, the couple’s exit from the royal family could permanently change how future “spares” are treated.  Reflecting on the 2020 Sandringham Summit – where the late Queen, King Charles, and Prince William rejected Harry’s proposal for a “half-in, half-out” role – Simon explained how the ultimatum forced the Duke’s hand.  Speaking on HELLO!‘s A Right Royal Podcast, Simon, author of The Four Wives of Windsor, said: “The Sussexes clearly believed, or Harry believed, that there could be a third way. At the Sandringham Summit, he was told by Elizabeth, Charles and William, ‘You’re either in or you’re out.’ At which point he said, ‘Okay, we’re out.’ He saw the door and he went for it.”  Looking ahead to how the Prince and Princess of Wales might raise Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis differently, the royal author …

I faced the famous Balmoral Test when I was dating Prince Edward – here’s what it’s really like

I faced the famous Balmoral Test when I was dating Prince Edward – here’s what it’s really like

An invitation to stay at Balmoral Castle is an exclusive honour and a rite of passage for anyone hoping to marry into the royal family.  It’s become known informally as the “Balmoral Test” – with famous participants including Princess Diana, Princess Kate, Meghan Markle, and Harriet Phillips. Though not an official test, it offers royal boyfriends and girlfriends the chance to see whether they would fit in with the family’s outdoorsy lifestyle.  Ruthie Henshall, the ex-girlfriend of Prince Edward, told HELLO!‘s A Right Royal Podcast that she was once summoned to the royal family’s Scottish estate – and shared what it was really like.  West End star Ruthie, 59, told us that she was welcomed with her own personal maid before going for a cookout without security – and was astonished when King Charles started “manning the bar”.  To hear about her experience and what the Balmoral Test is really like, you can watch the latest episode of HELLO!’s A Right Royal Podcast above.  Though she “didn’t know what to expect”, Ruthie said her time …

Princess Diana ‘would be alive today’ had it not been for this reason – and why her paranoia was legitimate

Princess Diana ‘would be alive today’ had it not been for this reason – and why her paranoia was legitimate

Diana, Princess of Wales would still be alive today had she not been deceived by the BBC, investigative journalist and author of Dianarama, Andy Webb argues. In a special recording of A Right Royal Podcast, Andy said he believes the “real tragedy” is that Diana never found out the truth about how she was conned by Martin Bashir to take part in the 1995 Panorama interview. But it wasn’t so much her participation in the interview that led to her downfall. It was the fact that the big bosses at the BBC did nothing when they found out one of their reporters, Bashir, had forged documents to convince Diana to sit for her explosive tell-all interview. Within two years of that broadcast, Diana tragically lost her life in Paris, having fired her regular protection officers and surrounded herself with ramshackle security. WATCH: Princess Diana would be alive today had it not been for Panorama scandal: “There was a chance for the BBC to tell Diana [of Bashir’s wrongdoing],” Andy said. “Had they gone to Diana …

Why Princess Diana used to say she and Prince William ‘didn’t get on’

Why Princess Diana used to say she and Prince William ‘didn’t get on’

Prince William and Prince Harry look back with nothing but fondness and admiration for their late mother Diana, Princess of Wales. But according to royal author Ingrid Seward, who knew Diana personally, there were times when the boys were growing up that Diana did not see eye to eye with her firstborn. “She would say to me, ‘William is William. Sometimes we don’t get on at all because he is so like me. But Harry is fine, he’ll never be a problem.’ She would say that William was the sensitive one and Harry would just skim through life.” “But she cared,” Ingrid added. “They were her life and maybe she did sometimes smother them. But I think that’s totally understandable for someone in her situation, because that’s really all she had, her boys.” WATCH: Why Princess Diana and Prince William didn’t always see eye to eye Ingrid shared her insight and other anecdotes during a special recording of A Right Royal Podcast, which took place to celebrate the life and legacy of the late Princess, …

how Princess Diana really felt about her divorce

how Princess Diana really felt about her divorce

Speaking to a live audience of 70 HELLO! readers at the Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences, London, Ingrid revealed: “She always said, ‘I never, ever, ever want to get divorced’. One of her nannies, Mary Clarke, wrote a book and she told her that she never wanted to get divorced. Even to the last moment, Diana never wanted that divorce.” Also joining Ingrid on stage at our podcast recording was fashion designer Jacques Azagury, the creative mastermind behind some of Diana’s more daring, post-royal dresses. WATCH: Princess Diana ‘never wanted a divorce’ Jacques noted the change in his royal client, saying: “She was very anxious and bothered about the whole thing. I think she tried not to show it, but you could tell there was a certain sadness in her. But then we’d get into our design mode and dress mode, and everything would lift again. But there was definitely a sadness there.” “She did love the whole concept of the family,” Jacques added. Ingrid Seward shared who the real Princess Diana was as …
