NEW YORK (AP) — Patrick Roy was fired as coach of the New York Islanders on Sunday, another late-season change in the NHL that comes with the team in the middle of a spring tailspin that has put its playoff chances in jeopardy. Getting outshot 40-16 and losing 4-3 at division-leading Carolina on Saturday night in another must-win game was the final straw for Darche, who took over last summer and decided at the time to keep Roy behind the bench. This is not an interim move. DeBoer is taking the job full time. A funeral mass has been held in Ireland for the mother of former Irish footballer Roy Keane. Marie Keane died “peacefully” at a hospice on Friday while surrounded by her family. The former captain of Manchester United and the Republic of Ireland posted a photo of him with his mother to social media after her death, accompanied by the caption “you’ll always be the boss”. Condolences have poured in for Keane, who is also a well-known football pundit, from ex-players including Sir David Beckham, Gary Neville and Robbie Keane. The $7 million in annual recurring revenue that Cluely co-founder and CEO Roy Lee shared with TechCrunch last summer was a lie, Lee admitted on Thursday on X. Wrote Lee, this “is the only blatantly dishonest thing i’ve said publicly online, so this is my formal retraction.” Yet his post on X also misrepresents the backstory of how and why he told TechCrunch his ARR in the first place. Lee says in that same post that he “got a random cold call from some woman asking about numbers and told her some bs, did not expect an article about it.” But that call occurred because Cluely’s public relations representative emailed TechCrunch and offered to make Lee available for a story. This spring, Gagosian will open its 14th exhibition dedicated to Roy Lichtenstein. Titled “Painting with Scattered Brushstrokes,” the exhibition draws exclusively from the Lichtenstein family collection and will feature paintings, sculpture, watercolors, and works on paper from the 1970s and ’80s. Opening March 19 at the gallery’s 541 West 24th Street space, the show lands in the middle of a frenzied run of market activity for the late Pop artist, alongside a major Whitney Museum retrospective for Lichtenstein opening later this year.
