New M6 Mac Mini Runs GameCube Games at 8K and 60Fps

The M6 Mac Mini, powered by Apple’s latest M-series chip, is proving to be a remarkable device for gaming emulation, even at resolutions as high as 8K. In a detailed breakdown, ETA Prime explores how this compact desktop handles demanding platforms like GameCube, Wii and PS2 using emulators such as Dolphin and PCSX2. With Apple’s […] The post New M6 Mac Mini Runs GameCube Games at 8K and 60Fps appeared first on Geeky Gadgets. Source link

Trump’s AI-powered America.gov is here. Built by DOGE alumni and runs on Gemini, Grok.

America has a new generative AI chatbot. Well, not really, but President Trump is pushing for citizens to stop clicking through government websites and just ask a chatbot. On Tuesday, the White House launched a revamped America.gov, an AI-powered portal meant to be a single front door to the federal government. Trump signed an executive order establishing America.gov during the event, describing the site as “a restoration of America’s founding promise.” It works like most AI chatbots. You enter a query (strictly related to the federal government), and the chatbot searches it up. According to the site, America.gov searches information across roughly 29,000 government websites and returns answers based on official federal sources. Ask America.gov what powers it has, and you won’t get far. When Mashable asked which language models it runs on, the chatbot replied: “I do not publish which language models power America.” (Yes, it calls itself “America.”) U.S. Chief Design Officer Joe Gebbia was more forthcoming on TV. He told CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that the site is powered by artificial intelligence from Google’s Gemini …

Robot dog runs a marathon faster than the average human, all on a single charge

Robot dog runs a marathon faster than the average human, all on a single charge

Engineers in South Korea created a first-of-its-kind robot dog capable of completing a marathon faster than many humans, and it did it all on a single charge. The quadruped, called RAIBO2, ran the 26.2-mile course in the Sangju Dried Persimmon Marathon in Korea in 2024, but details about the event and the robot were recently published in the journal Nature. Custom-built with energy efficiency in mind, RAIBO2 finished the course (with the help of some remote human controllers) in 4 hours, 19 minutes, and 52 seconds.  To put that speed in perspective, the global average time for humans to complete a marathon is around 4 hours and 32 minutes, though elite athletes finish much faster. The current world record held by Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe is 1 hour and 59 minutes. But that’s for humans.  A real dog would overheat long before reaching the finish line. What’s maybe most remarkable, though, is that RAIBO2 finished the race with more than a third of its battery still in the tank. And it did it all  while averaging …

England rout Sri Lanka by 223 runs to win ODI series

England rout Sri Lanka by 223 runs to win ODI series

LONDON, Sept 27 : England’s Tom Banton struck a first One Day International century before England’s bowlers romped through the Sri Lanka line-up to ensure a 2-1 series victory, winning the deciding clash by an imposing 223 runs at The Oval on Sunday.  Banton scored 126 after England chose to bat and laid the foundation for a formidable total of 355-7 before dismissing Sri Lanka for a modest 132. Banton’s innings, which highlighted his expansive range of shots, included 5 sixes and 16 fours as he mercilessly took to the visiting bowling after fellow opener Ben Duckett had been castled in the second over. England captain Harry Brook, who was dropped when he had seven runs, punished Sri Lanka’s poor fielding display with 77 off 66 balls while Jordan Cox, replacing the injured Jos Buttler, made 76 from 52 balls on his return to the ODI side for the first time in almost two years. “I thought it was a near perfect performance with everyone chipping in beautifully,” said Brook. England had won the first ODI …

Edge0 Framework Runs Qwen 35B AI Model from Your SSD

Edge0 Framework Runs Qwen 35B AI Model from Your SSD

Edge0, an open source framework introduced by The Stack, enables a 35-billion-parameter Mixture of Experts (MoE) model to run directly from storage, bypassing the need to load all weights into active memory. This approach reduces the memory footprint to just 2.9 GB, allowing massive AI models to operate on devices with limited RAM. However, this […] The post Edge0 Framework Runs Qwen 35B AI Model from Your SSD appeared first on Geeky Gadgets. Source link

Your brain runs on 20 watts. Could brain-inspired computing do the same?

Your brain runs on 20 watts. Could brain-inspired computing do the same?

Right now, your brain is recognising the shapes of these letters, analysing their meaning, and holding a stream of thought together – all on about 20 watts of power. That’s roughly what it takes to run a lightbulb. Yet reproducing even a small fraction of the brain’s capabilities using today’s AI systems can require vast computing infrastructure and energy. Neuromorphic computing – also known as “brain-inspired computing” – is an attempt to close that gap. Not by making today’s computers slightly more efficient, but by fundamentally rethinking how they should work. The human brain holds roughly 86 billion neurons, wired to each other through junctions called synapses. A neuron receives signals from its neighbours; when their combined effect crosses a threshold, it will fire a brief electrical pulse known as a spike. Two things make this process efficient. First, energy is spent only where it’s needed, not everywhere constantly. Second, memory and processing are intertwined in the strength of each synapse’s response. The brain doesn’t have to pause and go find information, saving both time …
