SEOUL, June 12 (Reuters) – North Korean ⁠leader ⁠Kim Jong Un ⁠sent a congratulatory message to Russian President ​Vladimir Putin on Russia’s National Day, voicing full support for ‌Moscow’s domestic and foreign ‌policies, state media KCNA said on Friday. Kim ⁠said ties ⁠between North Korea and Russia were strengthening into ​an alliance based on a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty, and pledged to “always be with” Russia, KCNA reported. Separately, Russian and ​North Korean officials visited a monument and cemetery of ⁠fallen ⁠Soviet Army fighters to ⁠mark ​Russia’s National Day, while Russia’s embassy hosted a reception for ​North Korean ⁠senior officials, KCNA said. Ties between the two countries have been deepening amid North Korea’s deployment of thousands of troops to support Russia’s war in Ukraine. Officials in ⁠Washington and Seoul have accused Pyongyang of supplying artillery shells, ⁠missiles and other military materials for use in Ukraine, though Moscow and Pyongyang denied arms transfers. A ransomware gang has escalated its attacks on law firms by sometimes sending fake IT workers in person to the victims’ offices, where the imposters steal data directly from the victims’ computers using USB drives or help other gang members connect to the computers remotely, according to Google and the FBI.  On Friday, Google’s cybersecurity teams Mandiant and Google Threat Intelligence Group published a new report accusing the cybercriminal gang known as Silent Ransom Group of attempting to steal victims’ information “using physical, in-person access” in attacks from January through May of this year that targeted “dozens” of victims.  “Mandiant has investigated various matters where adversaries planted insiders, bribed employees, or physically entered buildings to facilitate cyberattacks,” Mandiant chief technology officer Charles Carmakal told TechCrunch in a statement, adding that the company has seen this tactic used in other cases over the years as well.  Last month, the FBI published an alert warning that Silent Ransom Group had been targeting law firms with social engineering and phishing attacks pretending to be IT support employees. Donald Trump has announced a meeting in the White House Situation Room on Friday to make a final decision on a deal with Iran. The US President said a potential deal would need to include: Iran agreeing not to develop a nuclear weapon, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the removal of sea mines. SINGAPORE: China will send a delegation from the People’s Liberation Army National Defence University to this year’s Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, marking the second straight year Beijing has opted not to dispatch its defence minister to Asia’s top security summit. The delegation will be led by the defence university’s Major General Meng Xiangqing, the Chinese defence ministry said during a press briefing on Thursday (May 28), seemingly confirming earlier rumours that defence chief Dong Jun would not be attending the weekend event, which starts on Friday.  Major General Meng will speak at the event, as will former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cui Tiankai, according to the International Institute for Strategic Studies, which organises the annual summit.
