Exposé of parasite SEO firm Clickout Media removed from Google

Clickout Media uses what have been described as parasite SEO tactics A Press Gazette investigation into parasite SEO firm Clickout Media has been removed from Google’s search index after a spurious legal complaint. On Wednesday (25 March), Press Gazette revealed how UK-based Clickout Media has bought a number of news websites in order to exploit their reputations in Google and promote online casinos. In some cases, journalists have been fired and replaced with AI-powered writers. Some sites were removed from Google’s search results as a result of Press Gazette’s reporting, effectively killing the sites off. Now Press Gazette’s own reporting of this issue has been removed from the Google archive after a bogus copyright complaint. A search of the exact Press Gazette headline: “The SEO parasites buying, exploiting and ultimately killing online newsbrands” does not bring the article up. A note at the bottom of the Google search results page reveals for this query states: “In response to multiple complaints that we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 2 results from …

The SEO parasites buying, exploiting and ultimately killing online newsbrands

Website of Charlie Gard Foundation now promotes gambling for SEO firm Parasitical SEO companies are buying respected online news outets in order to harvest their reputations before leaving behind a ruined shell.  One organisation linked to this sort of activity is Clickout Media, which bought a network of UK-based videogame sites replacing human writers with AI ‘journalists’ and packing them with links to offshore gambling websites. Hundreds of websites are believed to have received the same treatment from Clickout Media according to former employees who spoke on condition of anonymity to Press Gazette. Sites typically go from being viable outlets, still valuable enough to be bought for large sums, to being filled with AI-written articles and casino links, before simply being abandoned. Speaking anonymously, one former Clickout Media employee said: “I was moved from site to site. Writing guidelines and strategies changed every other week with very little explanation. At first, I didn’t write casino content, but then I wrote articles on bets and odds. Then AI articles started appearing.” The owners of one site …

Google’s AI Searches Love to Refer You Back to Google

Google’s AI Searches Love to Refer You Back to Google

Google seems to have a Google addiction. If you click on a hyperlink in Google’s chatbot-style search tool, AI Mode, you are likely to be looped into another Google search, according to a new study from SE Ranking, a search engine optimization company. Currently, Google.com is the most commonly linked site in AI Mode. Many website owners and publishers have relied heavily on Google Search as their primary source of visitors and have complained about declines in traffic over the past few years as the tech giant has prominently featured generative AI summaries in search results, through AI Overviews and AI Mode. Liz Reid, Google’s head of Search, has previously disputed reports about traffic declines and described AI tools as driving “highly quality clicks” to these sites. “Even if you’re saying that people click on those citations all the time, well, there’s nothing to click on, because it just takes you to another Google result,” says Mordy Oberstein, an SEO expert and head of brand at SE Ranking. Currently, an estimated 17 percent of total …

The 22 Best French Fashion Brands For Men: 2026 Edition

With incredible wine, food widely considered the high-water mark of haute cuisine, world-leading fashion and a slightly annoyingly nonchalant attitude toward the whole thing, it’s no wonder France is known as one of the coolest nations on earth. Culinary delights and devil-may-care demeanour aside, though, it’s the style aspect we’d like to focus on today. Vilebrequin Vilebrequin Charli Convertible-Collar Linen Shirt Vilebrequin Moopea Straight-Leg Mid-Length Striped Wool-Blend Swim Shorts Vilebrequin Pyramid Linen Polo Shirt The French might have a bit of a reputation for favouring budgie smugglers at the beach or around the pool, but not where Vilebrequin is concerned. Instead, expect breezy Cuban-collar shirts, refined swim shorts and everything else a man could possibly need to soak up some rays in style. Shop now at …

SEO isn’t dead. But AI chat adoption is faster than most teams realize.

SEO isn’t dead. But AI chat adoption is faster than most teams realize.

If your organic traffic looks flat while impressions stay steady, you’re not imagining it. We’ve seen this pattern across B2B SaaS and ecommerce accounts since late 2023. Rankings hold. Clicks slip. Meanwhile, leadership’s awareness of why competitors appear in ChatGPT responses while your content doesn’t is crucial. That tension is the real story here. SEO still works, but the way people discover information is changing faster than most marketing teams are planning for. This isn’t about panic. It’s about timing. And, the teams treating AI visibility as “next year’s problem” are already behind. The uncomfortable truth about search right now Google traffic hasn’t vanished. But user behavior has shifted in ways most dashboards don’t make obvious. When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini a question, they often don’t click anything. They get an answer. Sometimes that answer cites sources. Sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, the discovery moment happens upstream from your website. We see it first in qualitative feedback. Sales calls where prospects reference insights you’ve never published. Customers who clearly researched but never touched …

Metrics for publishers in 2026

Metrics for publishers in 2026

Picture: Shutterstock/GamePixel There have been so many changes to Google’s search engine results pages (SERPs) in the last three years that publishers are still measuring SEO by keyword positions are using the wrong metrics for success. You can no longer simply use a ranking tool to discover a range of high-ranking keywords, update a page with said keywords and expect that page to improve in rankings and traffic. This is because: — Google has developed far beyond just using keywords to understand the meaning of a webpage. — Search results are now populated with so many modules to keep the user inside Google, pushing your website pages down. Ranking number one in the organic results could still mean you are only visible below the fold. — AI Overviews, as with AI answer engines in general, do not rank in the traditional sense. Due to their probabilistic nature, you can’t guarantee two results will ever be the same. This does not mean ranking tools are defunct. It just means the old way we used to think …
