While Zendaya and Swiss sportswear brand On are no stranger to collaboration, their latest release marks a significant milestone in the duo’s multi-year partnership. Available to shop online starting April 16, the SS26 Zendaya x On drop is their first-ever co-created footwear and apparel collection. To accompany the collection, the team tapped Academy Award winner Spike Jonze to direct a campaign short film, Shape of Dreams. Starring Zendaya, the film is set inside her imagined design world, “The Dream Lab.” Here, the team is able to convey the complexity of the creative process through an imaginative and playful lens. Since its debut six days ago, the video has accumulated nearly 10 million views on YouTube alone. If you know anything about me, you’ll know that I’m, first and foremost, a sneaker guy. I can ID a pair from across the street just by the shape of the tongue or the panel layout or the way the sole’s cut. My lovely editor Mahalia Chang calls my talent “scary,” which I choose to take as a compliment. But as much as I’m into trainers, I can also appreciate a good non-sneaker shoe. And one of the best non-sneaker shoes out there is the Paraboot Michael—the same one that Robert Pattinson happens to wear in The Drama. In the A24 movie, Pattinson’s character, Charlie, isn’t exactly what you’d call a high-fashion guy. He’s a museum director who clearly prioritizes comfort over anything else. Outdoor brand Columbia has been growing in my estimation with every product I’ve tried. Despite being quite reasonably priced, everything I try is high-quality and built to last. The first thing I ever tested was the Columbia Konos TRS shoe, which features in my guide to the best walking shoes as my best pick for those on a budget. The price is already a reasonable $100, but you can now get yourself a pair for under $60 at Amazon. It should be obvious to anyone looking at my walking shoe guide that I am fussy about footwear. I demand comfort, cushioning and durability from my walking shoes and if they don’t meet my standards, I won’t recommend them. The Columbia Konos exceeded my expectations in every way. For the price, I expected cheap materials, thin soles and no bounce underfoot whatsoever. A much-loved Birmingham shoe shop is set to close its doors this summer after more than four decades serving the local community. Blunts Shoes, a family-run store based in Kingstanding Circle, Birmingham, will shut in June, with staff citing the difficult economic climate behind the decision. Manager Diane Middleton, who has worked at the Kings Road shop for 38 years, said the announcement had come as a shock. Over the years, she has fitted shoes for generations of local families. Mrs Middleton said: “We are trying to get our heads round it. The news has gone on Facebook and customers are very surprised and shocked. The follow-up 001A aims to build on that reputation.
