Middle east war live: Iran says US ceasefire deal will not be signed on Sunday

13/06/2026 – 16:55 Trump to discuss Strait of Hormuz demining efforts at G7 as confidence grows for Iran war deal US President Donald Trump is expected to discuss plans to demine the Strait of Hormuz with allies during next week’s Group of Seven summit in France, a senior US administration official said Saturday, as mediators said an agreement to end the war was close. Britain and France, who are both members of the G7, have expressed interest in assisting with demining the critical waterway once the conflict is paused. The official, who briefed reporters on the condition of anonymity on ground rules set by the White House, said Trump also plans to meet on the sideline of the summit with the leaders of Egypt, Qatar and United Arab Emirates to discuss efforts to wind down the Iran war.  The summit begins Monday. 13/06/2026 – 16:47 Trump to discuss Strait of Hormuz demining efforts with allies at next week’s G7 as confidence grows for Iran war deal 13/06/2026 – 16:01 Iran peace deal: “Lebanon is the …

This Is How Trump Finally Signed the AI Executive Order

President Donald Trump has signed a scaled-back version of an executive order governing AI that he had shelved less than two weeks ago, after senior aides persuaded him that the administration could not indefinitely delay establishing a framework for the technology, according to two officials familiar with the matter. The revised order gives the federal government access to the most advanced artificial intelligence models 30 days before their public release, down from an earlier proposal that would have required companies to provide access 90 days in advance. Beyond shortening the review period, the administration made few substantive changes to the original text. Trump approved the revised order Monday night following a high-level White House meeting. Aides drafted the final language Tuesday morning, the two officials tell WIRED. The executive order is the first major AI regulation directive of Trump’s second term and reflects growing concern inside the administration that increasingly powerful systems, including Anthropic’s Claude Mythos and OpenAI’s GPT-5.5, could be exploited to carry out cyberattacks against critical infrastructure. The order does not implement formal …

Tesla retroactively added ‘supervised’ to FSD contracts owners signed years ago

Tesla retroactively added ‘supervised’ to FSD contracts owners signed years ago

Tesla has retroactively modified “Full Self-Driving” purchase agreements to add “supervised” language that did not exist when owners originally bought the product. In some cases, the original documents have been made entirely inaccessible. Electrek has confirmed the issue with multiple owners. The contracts in question were signed between 2016 and early 2024, when Tesla sold the package as “Full Self-Driving Capability” — with no mention of “supervised” and the implicit promise of unsupervised autonomy. Original contracts altered or inaccessible One owner, Oliver Abcarius, flagged the issue to Electrek. Abcarius purchased FSD for his 2018 Model 3 on August 12, 2019. When he recently went to pull up his FSD purchase agreement on his Tesla account to build a refund case, he discovered that Tesla had retroactively updated the document. The original contract — which did not contain “supervised” language — now links to an invalid page. Russia has signed a military pact with the Taliban. Could its fighters start turning up in Ukraine?

Russia has signed a military pact with the Taliban. Could its fighters start turning up in Ukraine?

Russia has signed an agreement to increase its military cooperation with the Taliban, deepening its ties to the hardline Islamist group and enshrining its outlier status as the only country in the world to recognise its regime in Afghanistan. The deal was ratified at an event in Moscow dubbed the “International Security Forum”, hosted by Russia and attended by the Taliban’s defence minister and senior leader Mohammad Yaqoob on Wednesday. This is the first high-level summit attended by Taliban officials after Russia recognised the group as the official government of Afghanistan in July 2025. No other nation in the world has done so. Neither Russia nor the Afghan side shared details of the military technical agreement, but it will raise concerns that the Taliban could begin providing its seasoned fighters to join Russia’s war effort against Ukraine. North Korea sent thousands of troops to the front lines of the war in Europe after Pyongyang and Moscow signed their own military pact in June 2024. Mr Yaqoob said the Taliban and Russia have expanded their bilateral …

iOS 26.4 No Longer Signed by Apple, Blocking Downgrades From iOS 26.4.1

iOS 26.4 No Longer Signed by Apple, Blocking Downgrades From iOS 26.4.1

Apple today stopped signing iOS 26.4, so iPhone users who have updated to iOS 26.4.1 are no longer able to downgrade to the earlier version of iOS. iOS 26.4.1 came out a week ago. When software is “signed,” it means it can pass the server-side verification check that Apple does when a user downloads a new version of iOS on an iPhone. An update that’s not signed can’t be installed because it won’t pass the verification check. Apple does not show users earlier versions of iOS after an upgrade has been released, but when software is still signed, it is possible to downgrade with the macOS Finder app on a Mac or the Apple Devices app on a Windows PC. Unsigning software prevents Apple customers from installing outdated, less secure versions of iOS, and Apple typically stops signing an update a week or so after new software comes out. iOS 26.4.1 fixed iCloud syncing issues and Stolen Device Protection on enterprise devices. While iOS 26.4.1 is the current publicly available version of iOS, Apple is …

UK small modular reactors deal signed with Rolls-Royce

UK small modular reactors deal signed with Rolls-Royce

The UK’s push into next-generation nuclear energy has taken a decisive step forward, with Great British Energy – Nuclear (GBE-N) formally signing a contract with Rolls-Royce SMR. The agreement marks the official start of detailed design work for the first UK small modular reactors, a cornerstone of the government’s long-term clean energy strategy. Commenting on the landmark deal, Simon Bowen, Chair of Great British Energy – Nuclear, said: “This is an immense moment for the UK nuclear programme, our organisation, and the industry as a whole. “Today represents a true recognition of the efforts made across GBE-N, Rolls-Royce SMR and government to get to this point, and I’m hugely proud of the team for reaching this critical milestone.” A turning point for UK small modular reactors Small modular reactors, often referred to as SMRs, are designed to modernise nuclear power delivery. Unlike traditional large-scale plants, these reactors rely on factory-built components that can be assembled on-site. The result is a more predictable construction process, lower upfront risk, and faster delivery timelines. This contract moves UK …

He Started a Social Network Alone. Then 5 Million People Signed Up

He Started a Social Network Alone. Then 5 Million People Signed Up

If you haven’t heard of UpScrolled before, a brief primer: It’s a social media platform not too different from, say, Instagram or TikTok. You can share photos or short videos, follow accounts, comment on posts, and amass a following of your own. Nothing too earth-shattering, right? UpScrolled founder Issam Hijazi would beg to differ. Indeed, his nascent company diverges from most Big Tech platforms in a few notable ways: UpScrolled offers an old-fashioned chronological feed, rather than one dictated by an algorithm ostensibly serving up content you’ll latch onto; the platform also promises not to share user data with marketing firms or other commercial enterprises. And Hijazi, who is of Palestinian descent, founded UpScrolled in response to widespread user allegations that some social media companies were censoring or shadow-banning their posts—particularly pro-Palestinian content. The platform explicitly vows “never” to covertly suppress content, provided it doesn’t violate UpScrolled’s community guidelines. Aside from breaking with plenty of Big Tech norms, Hijazi’s stance is rare among Silicon Valley types for being uniquely, overtly ideological. (In our conversation, Hijazi …

St. John’s Athletic Director Says Coach Rick Pitino Has Signed New Deal With Contract Extension

NEW YORK (AP) — St. John’s says Hall of Fame basketball coach Rick Pitino has signed a new agreement that will keep him under contract with the school through the end of this decade. Pitino was hired in March 2023 and given a six-year contract through 2029. Several media outlets, citing anonymous sources, reported Sunday his restructured deal includes an additional year through the 2029-30 season and a raise that will make him the second-highest paid coach in the Big East behind Dan Hurley at UConn. “We’re thrilled that Coach Pitino has signed a new agreement to remain at St. John’s, a deal that will keep him in Queens through the end of the decade,” athletic director Ed Kull said in a statement. “This extension reflects our strong confidence in his leadership, vision, and commitment to our student-athletes. “Coach Pitino has changed the culture of our community and we want his presence to be felt on this campus for years to come. We look forward to more Big East championships and NCAA Tournament runs with …
