Proposals for hi-visibility safety jackets at a controversial asylum camp highlight how ill-suited the Oxfordshire venue is, residents warned. The Government plans to hand hi-vis jackets to residents at the former Ministry of Defence camp at Piddington, if they decide to walk along a “death trap” road rather than taking the free bus shuttle to and from the nearest towns. Ian Darby, 63, a Piddington resident, said it was only one of many reasons the site was ill-suited, speaking to The Telegraph. “If they go wandering, they don’t have pavements on that road,” he said. “It’s very dangerous. The Government says they are going to issue high-vis jackets, but the widest pathway is just one metre. It’s a death trap.” According to government documents, migrants will be “strongly encouraged” to use the provided shuttle buses, but since authorities have no power to stop people leaving, the vests will be handed out “to further emphasise the potential danger”. The chihuahua breed originated in Mexico but is now a popular canine companion worldwide. Coyote genes may have been introduced into ancestors of the chihuahua accidentally. It may also be a result of deliberate attempts to cross the two animals – perhaps many generations ago. Michelle Farnham is spending 21 nights in the 43-inch tall farrowing crate, located in one of London’s busiest tourist spots. A team of volunteers take care of her 24 hours a day, working in shifts to make sure she is safe and has everything she needs including food, water, and buckets. The findings from the non-profit research group Anti-Corruption Data Collective are ‌likely to amplify concerns from ‌Democrats and consumer advocates that betting on political races jeopardizes public confidence in the ⁠electoral system ⁠by potentially casting doubt on outcomes or encouraging insider trading. Representatives for Kalshi ​and Polymarket, which currently dominate the U.S. prediction market industry, rejected the findings, however, saying Wednesday that market forces created a financial incentive to correct distorted prices by encouraging punters to wager on ​the better likelihood. Reform UK’s national conference has been rocked by allegations that senior members of the party plotted to circumvent rules on political donations. The reports centre on two payments – one real and one suggested, but both important. The two Reform staff members at the centre of the investigation have been suspended. The apparent plans were captured in a sting, filmed in London and Clacton by undercover journalists from Verbatim Investigations and broadcast by Channel 4 News. The first allegation from the film is that James Orr, who was Reform’s head of policy until his suspension, arranged for an impermissible donor to pay for £32,500 of polling, which later made headlines in national newspapers, from the company JL Partners. The question surrounding the payment is whether it is allowed under electoral law, and whether it should have been reported to the Electoral Commission. The law is clear that if you pay for research on behalf of a party (this is known as sponsorship), that payment counts as a donation and ought to be recorded as such. …
