Emmerdale favourite returning to the ITV soap “by popular demand”

Emmerdale favourite returning to the ITV soap “by popular demand”

Actor Chris Coghill is set to return to Emmerdale just three months after his ITV soap exit. The star, who first appeared as Kev Townsend back in September 2025 and played the role until his departure in January 2026, will reprise the part later this year. The serial drama has teased in a press release that his “new business venture is sure to stir up trouble for the locals”. But what exactly is ‘A Slice of Kev-en’? It seems to be some sort of mobile café, which is bound to ruffle Nicola King’s (Nicola Wheeler) feathers! The character, who is the estranged husband of Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and biological father of Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) – a fact he’s kept secret – was last seen narrowly escaping the clutches of serial killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).

Denmark’s kingmaker is a man who brushes his teeth with soap – POLITICO

But just a day before Tuesday’s elections in Denmark, a right-leaning and a left-leaning bloc are nearly tied with each other in the polls, both just short of a majority in the country’s 179-seat parliament. Rasmussen’s Moderates, meanwhile, are projected to secure 12 seats. That sets him up to either backstop Frederiksen to form another broadly centrist government, or hand power to Deputy PM Troels Lund Poulsen, leader of the center-right Venstre party and the preferred PM candidate of the right-wing bloc. Frederiksen is using that reality to nudge voters towards supporting her. “If [Rasmussen] chooses to back another prime minister, then we will, with a very high possibility, get a right-wing government in Denmark,” she said recently. Mette doesn’t define me For the past four years, Frederiksen’s Social Democrats have governed in coalition with Venstre and Rasmussen’s Moderates — the latter named after a fictional political group in the hit Danish political drama, “Borgen.” The government’s right-leaning policies on migration, which are among the most hardline in Europe, and the lack of action on …

Coronation Street villain confirmed to be leaving soap after arriving on cobbles last year

After being at the centre of a stomach-churning storyline on Coronation Street, it has now been confirmed that Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) will be part of an upcoming exit storyline and will be leaving the soap. For months now, Theo has been abusing Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), physically and verbally abusing his partner, stripping away his finances and more recently, holding up a knife to him. Well now, it’s been revealed that he’s set to leave the cobbles as initially reported by The Sun. ITV When approached by Radio Times, a Coronation Street spokesperson said: “James joined Coronation Street on a finite contract and was fully aware of his character’s story arc and how long he would be in the show. He still has scenes to film in the Todd/Theo storyline and will be on screen until later this year.” It’s safe to say that many fans have been clamouring to see Theo get his just desserts and face the consequences of his abhorrent actions, but as for just how Theo will be departing Weatherfield, …

Emmerdale star teases return to soap over 9 months after exit

Emmerdale star teases return to soap over 9 months after exit

It was never set to be a permanent exit, but it looks as though actress Georgia Jay is gearing up for her return to Emmerdale after leaving the soap to go on maternity leave. The actress, who plays Steph Milligan, has teased her return to the soap with a sneaky snap on Instagram. In the photo, Jay can be seen in a salon chair about to start reading a blurred-out script, which many have taken to mean it could be indicating that Jay is reading for upcoming Emmerdale episodes. One user commented: “That best be an Emmerdale script,” while another admitted that they “can’t wait to see you back on Emmerdale soon”. So, it’s safe to say that fans are clamouring for Steph to make her anticipated return to the dramatic Yorkshire fold following her departure last year. The character was previously on screen in August when Steph was struggling with many factors in her life, resulting in a breakdown. The character then departed for a retreat in Rome after also finding out that her …

Coronation Street icon reveals reasons why soap should “stay in its lane”

Sally Ann Matthews has given a brutally honest account of her Coronation Street exit – and has said the show needs to “stay in its lane”. The actress originally appeared as Jenny Bradley in the ITV soap between 1986 and 1991, as the daughter of villainous Alan Bradley. She returned for a brief stint two years later. Jenny’s connection to the cobbles – foster mother Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) – meant she was able to return for another storyline in 2015, which saw her entwined in a romance with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell). Matthews then made a full-time comeback the following year, and her on-screen family was gradually expanded. Jenny married Johnny Connor (Richard Hawley), and step-daughter from her first marriage, Daisy Midgley (Charlotte Jordan), was introduced. Sally Ann Matthews played Jenny Bradley between 1986 and 2015. ITV The women used money stolen from Underworld to buy the Rovers Return from pub chain LS Waterford, but were eventually shamed into handing it over to rightful owner Carla Connor (Alison King). Shamefaced, Jenny left for a …

The two worlds crossed over at the start of this year, with characters from both programmes meeting one another following a multi-car collision. It proved to be a massive hit with fans, with 4.7 million tuning in to the hour-long episode. Despite the impressive ratings, ITV’s executive producer for continuing drama Iain MacLeod has ruled out the possibility of another Corriedale special – saying that it “doesn’t make any sense” to revisit the idea. Speaking to the This Is Media City podcast on Tuesday (17 February), MacLeod said that blending the ”gothic and crazy” Emmerdale with the “more grounded” Coronation Street again “wouldn’t work” on a long-term basis. “The two shows do have a …
