Ludwig confirms Christmas special with David Mitchell and Poirot icon

Ludwig will return for a special festive episode this Christmas, which sees David Mitchell’s puzzle-solving expert on a case with an all-star list of suspects, including one of British TV’s most iconic detectives. Former Poirot star Sir David Suchet, who enjoyed a stellar 24-year run as Agatha Christie’s moustachioed sleuth, will guest star in the 60-minute episode, billed as a “locked-room murder mystery”. The story begins with John, Lucy and Henry heading to a “Christmas-themed hotel for what should have been a much-needed escape”, but a “sudden blackout” provides cover for a lethal plot to unfold. “Trapped by a blizzard and cut off from the outside world, the guests must spend the night with a killer in their midst,” the synopsis teases. “With John reluctantly pulled into one of his strangest puzzles yet, the race is on for the Taylors to solve the crime before Christmas.” In addition to Suchet, the Ludwig Christmas special also features Jason Flemyng (Trigger Point), Joe Wilkinson (Celebrity Traitors), Cathy Tyson (Blue Lights), Alexandra Roach (Nightsleeper) and Kiell Smith-Bynoe (Ghosts). …

MONZA, Italy, Sept 1 : Ferrari will have a special livery and team kit at Monza this weekend to commemorate Michael Schumacher’s first Italian Grand Prix win with the Formula One team and his decade at Maranello from 1996 to 2006. This year marks 30 years since the seven-times world champion, then with two titles to his name, joined Ferrari from Benetton. The German’s arrival transformed the team and started a golden period for Ferrari, with Schumacher going on to win five championships in a row and the team six successive constructors’ titles. Schumacher, now 57, has not been seen in public since he suffered a serious brain injury in an accident while skiing in the French Alps in December 2013. Ferrari said the SF-26 cars of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, also a seven-times champion, would have a livery inspired by Schumacher’s first Ferrari 310 – predominantly red with some white on the wings and black as well as seven stars and the German’s logo using the letters M and S. Three minibuses belonging to a special school in the North East that provide a valuable lifeline to youngsters have been smashed up by vandals. Mindless yobs targeted the vehicles at Priory Woods School and Arts College, in Tothill Avenue, in Middlesbrough, smashing the windows, damaging the lights and causing “significant vandalism” inside three of their five buses. Staff say the buses are ‘not a luxury’ but ‘essential’ for the welfare of the children. A fundraiser to repair the damage has already reached more than £7,000 in donations. As reported on Teesside Live, the incident, which saw the vandals repeatedly return to the school to carry out the damage, happened on Thursday, August 20, between 6pm and 7.30pm. Now, dozens of pupils will not be able to go on school trips, activities and community experiences “that are such an important part of their education and development”. Earlier this year, President Donald Trump formed a coalition, dubbed Shield of the Americas, that was aimed at combating cartels in Latin and South America. A local official told AFP and UPI that US special forces have been conducting direct operations against suspected cartels in the Esmeraldas province. “We are with the 7th (Special Forces) Group of the US Army. We are working together in the fight against narcoterrorism,” Esmeraldas Provincial governor Juan Jaramillo said last week. Ecuadorian Defense Minister Gian Carlo Loffredo added that two US warships were operating in the region.
