The person spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the private guest list. Huang’s planned attendance at the high-profile event is the latest sign of his alliance with Trump. Those ties appeared stronger than ever this week, as the two men pushed back against other tech CEOs who have issued dire warnings about the risks posed by rapid AI advancement. AI is expected to be a main topic of discussion when Xi meets with Trump. Huang was one of a select group of CEOs who traveled to China with Trump earlier this year. Jefferson County Coroner Greg Furlong told NPR that the woman, who died on Saturday, was unvaccinated. “This is a heartbreaking loss for the family and an unfortunate reminder that measles can be a serious and potentially life-threatening disease,” a statement from the coroner’s office said. Officials have not released the woman’s identity, but said she was a resident of Jefferson County. This is the third death that Pennsylvania state officials have linked to measles this year. No other states have announced measles deaths in 2026. On Friday, the Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 676 measles cases so far this year. During Friday’s 9/11 commemorations, it was startling to realize that one-third of the American population today wasn’t born when it happened. The terrorist attacks at the hands of Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida, which killed nearly 3,000 people, leveled the World Trade Center and damaged the Pentagon, marked a turning point in our history. Whatever sense of invulnerability America may have had as the world’s only superpower was shattered, and it precipitated massive changes in the way we lived, traveled and perceived ourselves. We started what was quickly named the global “war on terror,” and our president, George W. Bush, proclaimed that the rest of the world was either with us or they were with the terrorists. Sept. 11 was a politically unifying event at first, as wars tend to be.
