The 10 Best TV Shows to Stream This Month (May 2026)

While streaming may be the future of television, the medium itself—much like its big-screen counterpart—often leans on familiar properties, prequels, and reboots to keep things moving along. (Which explains why Yellowstone has morphed into a full-on franchise, with four current spinoffs and more on the way.) Why does this matter to you? Because May’s best shows to stream are full of familiar titles, from Battlestar Galactica to The Duffer Brothers’ newest project… which sounds a bit like their most famous project. Here are our picks for the 10 best shows to watch this month. Battlestar Galactica More than a year before Russell T. Davies rebooted Doctor Who for a whole new generation, Ronald D. Moore breathed new life into Battlestar Galactica—Glen A. Larson’s highly anticipated, but ultimately short-lived, sci-fi show from 1978. The revived series, in which what remains of humanity attempts to stave off extinction at the hands of a race of sentient AI beings known as Cylons, has since become one of the most critically acclaimed and influential sci-fi franchises of all time. …

Households urged to switch off 4 appliances on Friday | UK | News

The bank holiday weekend looks set to be a scorcher, with the Met Office forecasting a balmy 28C in the south east of England. Many parts of the country are expected to see the mercury rise into the mid- to high-20Cs on Friday and Saturday as high pressure takes hold. With hot weather outside, homes will also heat up as warmth gets trapped inside. Devices can add to that sweltering feeling too as they give out heat too. While many of us will be glad of a bit of heat outside after some relatively unsettled weather, some may still want to keep their homes cool for comfort. This calls for a timely reminder of a few simple tips on how to help keep the temperature of your home down, as suggested by Oliver Novakovic from housebuilder, Barratt. Amid a heatwave last year, he told the Express: “Turn …

Anna Moneymaker | Getty Images A group of U.S. and European lawmakers told Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison that the company’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery will be subject to careful scrutiny by European regulators and that he should not consider shareholder approval of the deal to be the final word. The three European Parliament members and two Democratic U.S. House lawmakers issued their warning in a letter sent Thursday and shared exclusively with CNBC. “In the European Union, the European Commission and the European Parliament will closely examine market definition, market share threshold, customer substitutability, vertical integration effects, and downstream impacts in the Internal Market pursuant to the EU Merger Regulation,” they wrote. The lawmakers noted that despite a preliminary WBD shareholder vote approving the merger last month, it is still subject to …

How Leah Kateb and Rob Rausch Made Love Island The Number One Reality Show in America

How Leah Kateb and Rob Rausch Made Love Island The Number One Reality Show in America

Neither Leah nor Rob had crucial pieces of information. The first was that Leah, with her beguiling Valley monotone and passion for a man who cuddled with insects, was becoming the star of season 6. The second was that they had just put Love Island USA on a path that would quadruple its viewers over the next three weeks. This crashout reached an ecstatic climax of what the show would be at its most transcendent: absurd, with genuine feeling. “If I write it in a script, you won’t believe it,” says Thomas, who executive produced the first six seasons of Love Island USA of the divinely unscripted moment his team had, if not manufactured, at least created the conditions for. “But if I show you Rob pencil-diving into the pool, it is cinema.” When he could no longer take the temperature, Rob got out of the pool and went with a producer to chain-smoke and sob more. He’d only been on season 5 for a few days; he hadn’t realized what it would be like …

Martin Lewis delivers emotional speech at BAFTA Television Awards 2026 – and leaves wife in tears

Martin Lewis moved the BAFTA TV Awards 2026 audience to tears with an emotional speech about his past as he took home the ceremony’s Special Award. The Money Saving Expert, a regular on ITV daytime, was celebrated at the ceremony for his continued work in consumer journalism, helping millions across the country with their financial troubles. Joined by his wife, Lara Lewington, at the ceremony, held this Sunday (10 May 2026) at Royal Festival Hall, Martin struggled to talk as he made a heartfelt tribute to his mother, who died when he was young, and his difficult upbringing as a result. Joking that he was winning the award for “an ITV show that’s just a PowerPoint presentation with a Q&A afterwards”, Lewis announced that the win “proves TV doesn’t have to be format-driven”. “People will embrace something actionable, something real, something that helps, and they will even embrace complexity if we make it worth it,” he told the audience. Martin Lewis’s wife, Lara, was visibly emotional during the speech. BBC “I wrote this [speech] on Thursday,” …
