Duchess Sophie’s final fashion rebellion in leg-split gown days before royal wedding

Duchess Sophie’s final fashion rebellion in leg-split gown days before royal wedding

She is the picture of poise at any royal event, and while we love how the Duchess of Edinburgh’s royal style has evolved over the years, sometimes we can’t help but take serious style inspiration from days gone by.  The former PR representative had quite the glitzy wardrobe before tying the knot with Prince Edward in 1999.  Just over a week before her nuptials at St George’s Chapel inside Windsor Castle, the bride-to-be stepped out in the spangled dress of dreams at The Guildhall in London For The Duke of Edinburgh Awards World Fellowship Ball. The dress in question was in an elegant charcoal grey colour with a black neckline; the ankle-length gown was adorned with hundreds of sparkles and complete with a dramatic leg split and a subtle open neck.  Sophie paired her dazzling dress with black sling-back pointed-toe heels and sheer tights, the perfect combination to let her dress do all the talking. © Tim Graham Photo Library via GetSophie looked stunning in the glittering gown As for her hair, Sophie was rocking …

James, Earl of Wessex, is embarking on a whole new chapter as he begins his undergraduate life at Royal Agricultural University to study Rural Land & Property Management. The 18-year-old will leave the luxury of Bagshot Park behind, and call university halls his home. The institution, which is set in Cirencester, is set to undergo a mammoth new project, which will be a UK first. The Cotswold District Council’s Planning Committee have given the green light to plans for an ‘Innovation Village‘ which is a 12 hectare site on campus including things like a business park, office space and academy, all dedicated to agricultural innovation and sustainable land use. © UK Press via Getty ImagesJames is Edward’s only son No dates have been released for the commencement of this development as the university is seeking investors.  Foregoing a gap year © Pool/Tim Graham Picture LibraryPrince William on his gap year James has decided to skip a traditional gap year and head straight to university after his A-levels. James, Earl of Wessex’s uncanny resemblance to royal relative leaves fans stunned

James, Earl of Wessex’s uncanny resemblance to royal relative leaves fans stunned

Royal fans were left doing a double take after a photograph of James, Earl of Wessex, proved his uncanny resemblance to his father, Prince Edward. The 18-year-old, who is preparing to start his new graduate life at the Royal Agricultural University, was recently spotted on the drive to Balmoral. The young royal, wearing a blue sweatshirt and black gilet, was seen through the window of what appeared to be a Land Rover while driving with Prince Edward, who wore a checkered shirt and teal jumper. At first glance, the two look identical to Prince Edward and his father, the late Prince Philip. Sharing the photo on social media, one fan wrote: “A friend sent me this photo and said, “If you look at it quickly, it looks like a young Edward with his dad, Prince Philip, out for a drive in the car,” and God, she’s right!” © GoffPhotos.comRoyal fans were left doing a double take after a photograph of James, Earl of Wessex, proved his uncanny resemblance to his father, Prince Edward Others agreed, …

James, Earl of Wessex will soon be leaving the family home as he starts his new university life at the Royal Agricultural University in the new term. Ahead of his new life, James was seen joining other members of his family down at Balmoral, and he was seen driving his father, Prince Edward, as they arrived. Although most of the UK has been basking in the sun in recent weeks, at Balmoral, the temperatures are only around 15C, and so James and Edward were seen bundled up warmly. James wore a blue jumper with a gilet, while Edward was seen wearing a green jumper with a collared shirt and tie. Plenty of other royals were seen joining James and Edward, as the likes of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Anne and Zara and Mike Tindall were seen arriving at the King’s Scottish home. © GoffPhotos.comJames was seen driving his father to Balmoral The arrival took place following news that the King’s youngest son, Prince Harry, was due to return to the UK with …

Hardworking Princess Anne and Prince Edward join forces for rare sibling trip

Hardworking Princess Anne and Prince Edward join forces for rare sibling trip

King Charles’ younger sister Princess Anne and brother Prince Edward both keep an incredibly busy schedule as equally hardworking members of the royal family.  The two are often out and about on their own engagements across the country. While they routinely reunite with other senior royals on major occasions like Trooping the Colour and Christmas Day in Sandringham, the royal siblings’ working schedules in between rarely overlap.  Despite typically carrying out their engagements separately or with their respective spouses, the two joined forces on Thursday for day seven of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. I faced the famous Balmoral Test when I was dating Prince Edward – here’s what it’s really like

I faced the famous Balmoral Test when I was dating Prince Edward – here’s what it’s really like

An invitation to stay at Balmoral Castle is an exclusive honour and a rite of passage for anyone hoping to marry into the royal family.  It’s become known informally as the “Balmoral Test” – with famous participants including Princess Diana, Princess Kate, Meghan Markle, and Harriet Phillips. Though not an official test, it offers royal boyfriends and girlfriends the chance to see whether they would fit in with the family’s outdoorsy lifestyle.  Ruthie Henshall, the ex-girlfriend of Prince Edward, told HELLO!‘s A Right Royal Podcast that she was once summoned to the royal family’s Scottish estate – and shared what it was really like.  West End star Ruthie, 59, told us that she was welcomed with her own personal maid before going for a cookout without security – and was astonished when King Charles started “manning the bar”.  To hear about her experience and what the Balmoral Test is really like, you can watch the latest episode of HELLO!’s A Right Royal Podcast above.  Though she “didn’t know what to expect”, Ruthie said her time …

Ruthie Henshall exclusively reveals all about her Prince Edward romance

Ruthie Henshall exclusively reveals all about her Prince Edward romance

When she looks back on her life, there is one period in time about which Ruthie Henshall is particularly nostalgic. It was the late Eighties, a time that she describes as “the golden age of theatre”. In 1987, she was 20 years old, on the cusp of fame and starring in her first West End show, Cats. The following year, she crossed paths with a young Prince Edward, then 23, and they embarked on a five-year on-off love affair that took Ruthie into the centre of the royal’s inner circle. It is this period of her life that Ruthie, 59, has made the focus of her new memoir, which she has titled The Showgirl and the Prince.  And although she knows that some of the details she has divulged about the Duke of Edinburgh, as he is now, will make sensational headlines, the heart of the book is pure and simple.  “This is a love story set against the backdrop of the Eighties and Nineties of musical theatre,” she tells hello! in this exclusive photoshoot …

Duchess Sophie performs flawless curtsy for brother-in-law King Charles in affectionate exchange at Royal Ascot

Duchess Sophie performs flawless curtsy for brother-in-law King Charles in affectionate exchange at Royal Ascot

Duchess Sophie and Prince Edward had the sweetest exchange with King Charles as they arrived at Royal Ascot on Wednesday.  The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were pictured at the Berkshire racecourse on the second day of the five-day meet, though they did not join the official carriage procession.  The King appeared, 77, delighted to see his younger brother, 62, and his sister-in-law, 61, giving them both an enthusiastic peck on the cheek in greeting after climbing down from his carriage.  Sophie, who was wearing a black Victoria shirt dress by Suzannah London, then impressed royal fans by sinking into a deep curtsy, which she executed flawlessly despite wearing heels.  She showed her close bond with her brother-in-law Charles by placing her hand on his shoulder for support. The monarch then shook his top hat at the Edinburghs in acknowledgement, before they moved on to greet Queen Camilla.  Royal fans were left delighted by the affectionate moment, rushing to comment on a video by HELLO!‘s royal editor Emily Nash, who was at the scene.  © …

Why Prince Edward is the perfect antidote to his disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

Why Prince Edward is the perfect antidote to his disgraced brother Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

I have just got back from Portugal after a whirlwind three days with the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and thought I’d share some of my thoughts with you. I have been on a few overseas royal tours in my time, including with Prince William and Kate and with the King and Queen, whom I joined in Australia in 2023. But this trip was different. While the King travels with a huge entourage and has dozens of members of the press in tow, Prince Edward and Sophie’s trip was far more low-key, and gave me a chance to observe them up close – something I haven’t had an opportunity to do so before. I was one of a very small handful of media who joined this tour, so rather than travelling around on a fleet of buses with writers, photographers and camera crews, we were ferried around in a people carrier and followed the royal couple in convoy – led by police outriders – as they travelled between engagements.
