HBO Chief Casey Bloys on Heated Rivalry Season 2, Emmy Noms

HBO Chief Casey Bloys on Heated Rivalry Season 2, Emmy Noms

Under creative chief Casey Bloys, as his staff is quick to remind, HBO has been dominating the Emmys for a while now. In the decade since the former development exec ascended to the top entertainment role (current title: chair and CEO of HBO and Max Content), the platform has had more nominations than any other in all but three years. That trend continued this year. Thanks to shows like The Pitt and Hacks, which collected the most (25) and second-most (24) noms, HBO garnered 122 total slots, eleven more than second-place Netflix, which some thought might take the 2026 crown.  AppleTV+ also had a very strong year — its 87 total noms were enough to lead combined drama and comedy categories — but it’s hard to deny that HBO still rules the game. And that’s without the platform’s buzziest show, Heated Rivalry, eligible for prizes. (The network acquired the Canadian series, and only U.S. productions are eligible.) Of course, things in television can change in a Pitt-like minute. And they well might, given that next year at this time HBO could be owned by David …

Noah Wyle was glowing with pride as he stepped out at the premiere of his daughter’s new film, Vanishing Tour, in support of her first major movie role.  The Pitt star looked dapper in a gray suit with a button-up shirt underneath, paired with brown dress shoes and stylish sunglasses. His 20-year-old daughter, Auden, was stunning in a burgundy leather minidress with a high neckline and ruching around the waist. She accessorized with burgundy pantyhose, knee-high boots, leather gloves and a matching clutch, and wore her long brunette hair down in loose waves. At the premiere event in Los Angeles, Noah and Auden were pictured with her co-star in the film, Mina Tobias, who is the daughter of Twin Peaks and Riverdale actress Mädchen Amick.  © GC ImagesNoah came to support his daughter at her film premiere Auden later shared insight into the fun-filled night out with her dad, taking to Instagram to write: “I couldn’t love these people more, what a night. Forever grateful to have been your Clara.” Her mother, Tracy Warbin, took to the comment section to share the …

The Pitt star Moshe Kasher reveals heartbreaking health update after shocking cancer diagnosis

The Pitt actor Moshe Kasher revealed a devastating tonsil cancer diagnosis with his fans on Sunday as he described the extensive treatment he was undergoing to combat the illness. The 46-year-old took to Instagram to share a photo of himself post-surgery, sitting in the hospital with a tube protruding from his neck. “Three months ago, while in Savannah producing the new Judd Apatow/Glen Powell movie, The Comeback King…I found a bump on my tonsil,” he began in the carousel post. “It was cancer. Which did not rule so hard,” he continued, before revealing that two days prior, he had undergone surgery to remove the lump.  © InstagramMoshe shared a health update with his fans on social media “This has been the most terrifying and consciousness-consuming experience of my life,” he continued. “My life has been terror, meditation, tears, and medical planning.”  “I truly cannot believe I managed to work an entire movie while dealing with this. Banff World Media Festival Awards 2026: Full Winners List

Banff World Media Festival Awards 2026: Full Winners List

The French-language series Empathie from screenwriter Lorence Longpre picked up the Grand Jury Prize at the Banff World Media Festival’s Rockie Awards on Tuesday night. The Canadian series from Trio Orange, which also won for best non-English language drama, the Prix Francophone and the Prize for Excellence in Canadian Content, sees Longpre play a criminologist-turned-psychiatrist in a Montreal hospital where she meets an eclectic group of patients. “I would like to thank the whole team for this Rockie Award,” Longpre said in a pre-taped video to accept the Grand Jury Prize at the Rockie Awards. And in the best English-language drama category, HBO’s The Pitt took top honors, beating out Canada’s Heated Rivalry and Plan B series, another U.S. series in The Handmaid’s Tale and the British drama Reckless. “As a Canadian boy, it’s so good to be home, I have to say,” R. Scott Gemmill, the series creator and a Canadian-born writer and producer, said when accepting the honor at the gala ceremony in the Canadian Rockies. Elsewhere, the best English-language comedy honor went to HBO’s The Chair Company, and Malin …

Noah Wyle, Kit Harington, Charlie Hunnam and Drama Actor Roundtable

Noah Wyle, Kit Harington, Charlie Hunnam and Drama Actor Roundtable

Not too long ago, Noah Wyle was out to dinner when an elderly couple approached. “We love the show,” the exchange began. Then came the request: “I just had knee surgery,” said the woman. “Would you mind taking a look?” According to the Pitt star, she rolled up her pant leg right there, and Wyle assessed the incision. After all, he’s played a doctor for well over a decade, first on ER and, now, on the Emmy-winning HBO Max drama. That Wyle has no actual medical credentials didn’t seem to matter. Turns out, being conflated with the characters one plays is not uncommon, at least for the TV stars gathered at THR‘s Drama Actors Emmy Roundtable. That group, which also included Charlie Hunnam (Monster), Richard Gadd (Half Man), Paul Anthony Kelly (Love Story), Kit Harington (Industry) and Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager), discussed this and much more on a late April morning at The Georgian Hotel. What’s the craziest thing you’ve all done to land or prep for a gig? Charlie, did I hear you …

TV’s Casting Directors Betting on Unknowns

TV’s Casting Directors Betting on Unknowns

In the age of social media, casting directors still have managed to find industry newcomers with relative digital obscurity and turn them into bona fide stars overnight. “It’s exciting to see new actors that you haven’t necessarily seen before,” says Lucy Bevan, who teamed with Emily Brockmann for the second time (the first was on Game of Thrones) to cast A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. “As an audience member, you feel like you are discovering them for yourself.” There are few shows that have been as successful in introducing new faces as HBO’s medical marvel The Pitt. In what they described as “the great experiment,” because of the show’s unprecedented single-shift format, casting directors Cathy Sandrich Gelfond and Erica Berger — who won an Emmy for their work on season one — were given carte blanche to cast more than 250 roles in the fictional Pittsburgh ER. “Everybody across the board said, ‘Just find the best possible actors for these parts,’ and that’s a casting director’s dream come true,” Berger says. Given the show’s …

Streaming Ratings March 23-29, 2026

Streaming Ratings March 23-29, 2026

A week after its newest batch of episodes put the show in second place on Nielsen’s streaming charts, Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black moved into the top overall spot. The Netflix drama recorded 1.36 billion minutes of viewing for the week of March 23-29. That’s down a little from 1.42 billion minutes the prior week, but with overall streaming volume down week to week, the small decline was enough for Beauty in Black to move up a place. The Pitt (1.21 billion minutes) essentially tied its all-time weekly high for the week of season two’s 12th hour. Taking it out one more decimal place, the HBO Max series had 1.208 billion minutes, just shy of the 1.209 billion for the week of Jan. 26-Feb. 1. Beauty in Black and The Pitt were the only titles to cross the billion-minute mark for the week as the previous week’s leader, Virgin River, fell 39 percent to 970 million minutes of watch time. Hulu’s Paradise (639 million minutes) returned to the original series chart after falling off a …

Gerran Howell on ‘The Pitt,’ His Love for Whitaker and What’s Next

Gerran Howell on ‘The Pitt,’ His Love for Whitaker and What’s Next

The Pitt star Gerran Howell is seemingly proud of his character Dr. Whitaker’s newfound self-assurance. The 35-year-old Welsh actor has gone from a “wide-eyed farm boy,” as he puts it, in season one, to coming into his own during the show’s second season, which just wrapped last week. The HBO Max medical drama has found its biggest audience yet, drawing in 9.7 million viewers throughout the weekend. It’s also become an awards darling since its season one premiere in 2025. Howell recalls a day on set where all of the actors were given time to take photos with the awards, but the fanfare didn’t last long. Much like the hospital setting of the show, The Pitt gets right back to business. “Everyone is obviously psyched about it that it’s getting the recognition it is, but yeah, it’s honestly back to work,” he says. “Of course there’s pressure now. There’s pressure to keep people tuning in every week and keep onto the magic that has got us this far,” the actor continues. “But The Pitt is …

Noah Wyle The Pitt Season 2 End Interview: Mental Health, Real Robby

Noah Wyle The Pitt Season 2 End Interview: Mental Health, Real Robby

[The following story contains spoilers from the season two finale of HBO Max’s The Pitt, “9:00 p.m.”] The Pitt season two finale conversation between Shawn Hatosy’s Dr. Jack Abbot and Noah Wyle‘s Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch about their respective mental health struggles is not the first time that the two close friends and fellow attending physicians have talked about suicide. In fact, the topic comes up just minutes into the series’ first episode as Robby finds Abbot on the roof and jokes that jumping on his shift would be “rude.” Later in the first season, it’s Robby who’s up on the roof as Abbot tries to reassure him while Robby’s crying and talking about how he let himself and his staff down. Though both Robby and Abbot walk out of the hospital together at the end of season one, it was that moment that planted the seeds in Wyle’s mind for Robby’s suicidal thoughts in season two. “What would happen if Abbot hadn’t come back? If Abbot hadn’t stepped out and talked Robby down at …

‘The Pitt’ Season Three Is Coming. Here’s Everything We Know—and Everything We Don’t

‘The Pitt’ Season Three Is Coming. Here’s Everything We Know—and Everything We Don’t

This story contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of The Pitt, “9:00 PM.” In the final moments of The Pitt’s second season, Dr. Michael Robinavitch (Noah Wyle) contemplates his mortality while holding onto dear life—literally. The day team at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center has clocked out after an exhausting (and dispiriting) Fourth of July, the night shift has scrubbed into action, and Robby is left to sort out his inner demons with Baby Jane Doe in his arms. It’s lights out in the pediatrics room, but is it lights out for everyone’s favorite helmetless motorcyclist and emotionally-unstable attending doctor? After weeks of fan speculation and increasingly impractical theories, that semi-cliffhanger may not be the most definitive (or satisfying) end to Robby’s sabbatical getaway day, but it is a particularly moving juxtaposition. For the first time since entering the ER that morning, Robby spends a few minutes in relative quiet, reflecting on a day (and a career) that has pushed him to the brink—as well as a spirit quest that everyone can see is a …
