This story contains spoilers for the Season 2 finale of The Pitt, “9:00 PM.” Dr. Jack Abbot (Shawn Hatosy) has technically been off for most of July 4th, but he’s still managed to get shot, make the internet swoon, and save a woman and her unborn child. And he ended The Pitt’s season 2 shift by delivering a powerful and vulnerable heart-to-heart to his friend and colleague, Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), who was hanging on by a thread. Shawn Hatosy’s collaborations with Pitt producer and director John Wells have spanned 20 years and five series, but, in war veteran Abbot, the 50-year-old actor has found a character so appealing and charming that fans are clamoring for a night shift spinoff. This story contains spoilers for the second season of The Pitt, including the most recent episode, “8:00 PM.” A psychiatrist I know once told me that the two most common diseases in the world are depression and addiction. When Dr. Frank Langdon emerged from the bathroom at the start of what would be the pivotal scene in “8:00 PM,” last week’s episode of The Pitt, he looked a mess, all sweat and anxiety tics and keyed-up, wide-eyed urgency. Patrick Ball’s dashing baby blues and anime-hero ahoge were doing the lord’s work. The show’s viewers, particularly those R/ThePitt power users who close-read scenes with the intensity of medieval religious scholars, gamed out two possibilities. Langdon had relapsed offscreen. The Pitt‘s Isa Briones, 27, has reprimanded a fan’s inappropriate behaviour at her recent Broadway performance. The actress, who plays Dr. Trinity Santos on the Emmy-winning HBO medical drama, issued a stern reminder about theatre etiquette after an audience member apparently shouted out her TV character name during a showing of Just in Time on Broadway. “Some people need to brush up on theatre etiquette, and just person in the world etiquette in general,” the actress, who is currently starring as Connie Francis in the immersive Broadway jukebox musical, wrote on her Instagram Stories on Sunday. Episode 19 of season five began with Gregory (Tyler James Williams) and Janine (Quinta Brunson) attempting to plan their first couple’s trip after moving in together earlier in the season, but differences over their individual philosophies around money and time quickly turned the process from pleasant to painstaking, with Gregory wanting to book an Airbnb and make an eight-hour trek in a car to the Outer Banks to save money and Janine preferring direct flights, a hotel and spa treatments. The first week of March was a big one for streaming shows set in 19th century England. Prime Video’s Young Sherlock got off to a solid start in its premiere week, recording 678 million minutes of watch time in Nielsen’s streaming ratings for March 2-8. The series, which follows Sherlock Holmes (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) as a college student and budding detective, was the top series debut of the week. Bridgerton, meanwhile, spent a second week as the overall No. 1 title, coming in at 1.99 billion minutes of viewing. It was one of three series to score more than a billion viewing minutes, along with The Night Agent (1.12 billion) and The Pitt (1.11 billion), neither of which are set in 1800s England. Two other shows also made their first appearances in the original series top 10: Netflix’s Steven Spielberg-produced nature series The Dinosaurs drew 612 million minutes of viewing, and Apple TV’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters had 467 million a week into its second season.
