Rebecca Hall has done a staggering amount of work since her miniseries The Listeners first aired overseas at the end of 2024. But once you watch her latest towering performance in director Janicza Bravo’s five-part miniseries that premiered June 12 on Starz, you’ll quickly understand why the English actor didn’t want to let her two-plus-year-old turn fall by the wayside.  In Jordan Tannahill’s adaptation of his own novel, Hall plays an English teacher named Claire whose personal and professional life is turned upside down when she suddenly hears a steady humming noise. She alienates her family, friends and colleagues in her desperate search for answers, and Hall went as far as to wear an earpiece that fed her various types of hums so that she could experience the character’s vulnerable state of mind. “We had lots of different versions that [director] Janciza [Bravo] would cycle through on the day. Fans of The Studio should prepare to witness a wild scene with Bryan Cranston and Madonna in season two. The Breaking Bad alum teased the upcoming sequence during a recent interview with Access Hollywood, saying it involves a game of truth or dare. “In this next season of the studio, I do something in front of Madonna,” Cranston said. “In a truth or dare test, and it’s a dare. And I do something that will either raise my street cred very high or destroy my career. It’s one of the two. But I guarantee you, you will utter to yourselves, ‘Oh my god!’ You will be watching this like this [Cranston brings his hands to his face in shock] and you will not believe [it].” The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that the pop icon was spotted filming the Apple TV+ satirical comedy series in Venice, Italy. Seth Rogen took to the BAFTA TV Awards stage on Sunday to pick up the best international series honor for The Studio, paying homage to his late co-star Catherine O’Hara, who died in January. “I’d be remiss not to mention one of the key parts of the show, Catherine O’Hara,” he said. “She meant so much to all of us.” And Rogen, holding up the BAFTA trophy, concluded in addressing the London crowd: “I assume her work has been so important to you all over here as it was to us. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are opening up about how the upcoming second season of The Studio has been impacted following Catherine O’Hara’s death. In a Friday interview with The Times, the directors spoke about how the show will look different without O’Hara’s Patty Leigh, whom the interviewer referred to as “the anchor” of the seires. Rogen noted that they are “acknowledging” her death, with Goldberg adding that “it has been an unbelievable challenge” navigating her absence, also because her character was written into season two. “Obviously emotionally, dealing with the loss, but also when it comes to the show itself. We wrote it for her to be there. We had it all set and the shock waves permeate throughout the entire new season,” Goldberg said. “It’s been difficult. For a TV series so focused on Hollywood, it’s fitting Madonna looks set to appear in the upcoming second season for Seth Rogen’s star-packed satire The Studio. The pop star on Tuesday teased her return to live-action acting on Instagram as production on a new season of the Lionsgate TV series continues in Europe. Madonna in her social media post is captured in a gondola on a grand canal in Venice, Italy, while reading a script. The Instagram post caption reads: “The Italian job.” Social media also has varied paparazzi shots of Madonna apparently on the second season Venice set of the series. The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to representatives for Madonna and The Studio. The series stars Rogen (who also co-created it) as Matt Remick, a movie executive who is elevated to president of the fictional Continental Studios and quickly realizes he might be in over his head. One Battle After Another’s Michael Bauman has won the American Society of Cinematographers’ top prize for work on a theatrical feature-film, setting the Oscar nominee up as the front-runner to win the Academy Award in exactly one week. To this point, the race has been considered a nailbiter: Bauman also won the BAFTA, Train Dreams’ Adolpho Veloso won the Spirit Award, and Sinners’ Autumn Durald Arkapaw dominated the critics’ awards circuit (she’d be the first woman ever to win the cinematography Oscar). The list of nominees was rounded out by Frankenstein’s Dan Laustsen and Marty Supreme’s Darius Khondji, both of whom are also nominated at the Oscars.  This is the second time in three years that the ASC Awards and the Academy landed on the same lineup of cinematography nominees. (Last year, the guild oddly expanded its nominations slate from the usual five to seven, but still blanked the Oscar-favored Emilia Pérez.) F1: The Movie, KPop Demon Hunters and Becoming Led Zeppelin were among the motion picture winners at Saturday night’s Cinema Audio Society Awards. Elsewhere in the television categories, The Studio, Adolescence and The Pitt were the big winners. The awards ceremony was hosted by Chris Hardwick Saturday night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. There, Skip Lievsay CAS was honored with the CAS Career Achievement Award, while Guillermo del Toro received the Filmmaker Award. And this year, the Cinema Audio Society gave out the inaugural Jeffrey S. Wexler Award for Advancement in Sound Technology to Evan Brooks, Peter Gotcher, Glenn Sanders and Howard Stark. Chalk up another award-season win for One Battle After Another. Colin Anderson has taken the prize for camera operator of the year in film for his work on the Paul Thomas Anderson epic, whose tableaux went from armed border areas to desert highway chases. The Society of Camera Operators honor comes on the heels of a slew of technical prizes for the movie, including from the American Cinema Editors, the Art Directors Guild and the British Society of Cinematographers; the American Society of Cinematographers decides Sunday. The award was announced in a livestreamed ceremony Saturday night. On the television side, Mark Goellnicht won for camera operator of the year for his work on the acclaimed “The Oner” episode of Apple TV+’s The Studio, in which Sarah Polley’s character attempts to direct a movie and Seth Rogen’s tries to oversee it in a one-take hourlong chaos extravaganza. Seth Rogen was clearly keeping an eye on Hollywood news ahead of the 2026 Actor Awards. The Studio star offered a few barbs at the Writers Guild of America West during SAG-AFTRA’s 2026 Actor Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, when he took the stage to accept the best comedy actor prize. After the writers union’s West Coast division canceled its upcoming awards show, set for Sunday, March 8, due to an ongoing strike from its staff union, Rogen joked that SAG-AFTRA was “able to pay your own employees enough to keep the award show from being canceled.” “Take notes, WGA,” he added. His comments, which came in his first of multiple appearances onstage Sunday accepting various awards, were part of his acceptance speech for best actor in a comedy series for The Studio.
