13 Environmentally Conscious Packing Tips for Your Next Vacation

13 Environmentally Conscious Packing Tips for Your Next Vacation

Your trip’s environmental footprint starts forming before you ever leave the house. If you pack wisely, there’s a lot you can do to reduce the negative impact that traveling can have on the planet. Here’s a short list of ecofriendly guidelines to get you going. 1. Use Refillable Toiletries Single-use travel-size toiletries make travel convenient, but they are among the most wasteful products on the market. Swap them out for reusable containers that you refill at home—they’re less wasteful, and far more economical anyway. Or, give solid products a try: soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and other products are available in bar form. 2. Hitting the Beach? Take Ecofriendly, Reef-Safe Sunscreen Of the sunscreens available in the US, mineral sunscreens are the only reef-safe options. Chemical sunscreens rely on oxybenzone, octinoxate, avobenzone, octisalate, and other ingredients that wash off into the water and harm coral reefs—they can cause coral bleaching, DNA damage, and deformities in developing coral. Stick to mineral sunscreens. Outside of the United States, keep an eye out for bemotrizinol. It’s approved for use …

As the World Descends into Chaos, Rich People Have a Very Pressing Concern: Where Can They Go on Vacation Now?

As the World Descends into Chaos, Rich People Have a Very Pressing Concern: Where Can They Go on Vacation Now?

If there’s one unifying ethos among the one percent, it’s control at all costs. In normal times, money really can provide some buffer against the whims of the world. But this is much less true in an era marked by persistent wars. There are, however, work-arounds for those willing to pay premiums for certain routes. Over spring break in March, Dr. Doft, her husband, and two sons went to Thailand. They deliberately took an Asian airline carrier to avoid stops in the Middle East—something they will also do this summer on their trip to the Asia-Pacific region. Similarly, Upper East Side–based art collector and former Christie’s specialist Tianyue Jiang says that given the possibility of airline fuel being rationed, she’ll streamline her summer travel to Italy, France, and Greece by avoiding connecting flights, sticking to larger, more international airlines to dodge cancellations, and taking trains or boats for inter-city and island transfers. Even that will be more expensive with fuel surcharges, according to David Zipkin, cofounder of Tradewind Aviation, which operates both private and scheduled …

WATCH Sydney Sweeney stuns in alternative swimwear during dreamy vacation video with Scooter Braun

Sydney Sweeney enjoyed a romantic getaway to Australia with her boyfriend Scooter Braun – and she was sure to document the trip. The actress took to Instagram on May 13 to share a sweet video montage that captured loved-up moments of the pair during their vacation. The video showed the American businessman repeatedly kissing his partner on the cheeks as they watched a striking pink sunset melt on the beach. Sydney looked effortlessly stylish in a white knitted top with a pink cap. The clip also captured the couple playfully dancing together, taking a helicopter ride over the ocean, and scuba diving to explore the vibrant coral reefs beneath the surface. Unlike her usual swimwear style, which often favors bold micro bikinis, Sydney opted for a hooded black wetsuit that coordinated perfectly with her boyfriend’s look. The next video showed the pair taking a stroll on the sandy beach as Sydeny captured the dreamy orange sunset. © GC ImagesSydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun are in a relationship The Euphoria actress hard-launched her relationship online on …

These Featherlight Summer Shirts Helped Me Survive a Stifling Vacation

These Featherlight Summer Shirts Helped Me Survive a Stifling Vacation

On the first day of my trip, with the humidity pushing 90 percent and the sun also doing its thing, I opted for the linen button-up before hitting the streets of Old San Juan. The first thing I noticed? How soft it was. Anyone who’s dealt with cheaper linen knows the drill: it starts off a little scratchy, and only softens after some real wear, if you’re lucky. This material, on the other hand, was immediately comfortable. The other surprise—and signal of quality—was its weight. Simply put, this linen has some real substance to it, helping it drape nicely without compromising on breathability. The next morning was even hotter, so I pulled the brand’s white cotton ‘Ripple’ button-up from my bag. And let me tell you, this fabric is special: Sourced from Japan, the texture of the seersucker is incredibly subtle—this is no Kentucky Derby-coded striped situation. The fabric is also of course lighter than linen, and has been sewn in slightly more relaxed cut that feels right for a fabric designed to handle higher …

What the Spirit Airlines Implosion Means for Your Vacation

What the Spirit Airlines Implosion Means for Your Vacation

Things have not been looking good for Spirit Airlines for years now. The budget airline known for its bare-bones approach to the sky filed for bankruptcy in 2024 and then again in 2025. And yet, its demise on Saturday felt sudden and shocking: Spirit said it would go out of business, canceling flights, shuttering its customer service lines, and laying off workers without warning. Why Is This Happening? Spirit’s demise was several years in the works. The company hadn’t made a profit since 2019. Other airlines, including larger and richer Delta Air Lines and American Airlines, invaded its low-cost turf by unbundling tickets and offering their own cheap, perk-free fares. In 2022, the US Department of Justice sued to block a proposed merger with JetBlue, arguing the deal would increase fares for all fliers. In early 2024, following a months-long trial, a federal judge blocked the merger. Then came two bankruptcies, one in early 2024 and one in summer 2025, with Spirit cutting staff, routes, and flights in an attempt to save itself. Finally, the …

People Should Vacation Every Two Months To Recover From Work

Nothing good comes from spending day after day, constantly working without taking a break. In fact, researchers have proven that taking a vacation is a surefire way to improve overall well-being. But that doesn’t mean that we’re going away as often as we should. So, how much time away from the daily grind is needed to actually recover from the stress and burnout of work? According to a 2025 study, it’s a whole lot more than the average employee is taking.
