Last month, the Oscar-nominated Marty Supreme star, 30, faced a wave of criticism after suggesting that “no one cares” about ballet and opera. Theron, 50, a former ballet dancer, weighed in on the controversy in a new interview with The New York Times, calling out Chalamet. “Oh, boy, I hope I run into him one day,” the Oscar-winning Monster actor said. “That was a very reckless comment on an art form, two art forms, that we need to lift up constantly because, yes, they do have a hard time.” She predicted that “in 10 years, A.I. is going to be able to do Timothée’s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on …

Trump sends 4 word warning to Iran after Strait of Hormuz closed again | World | News

Donald Trump has warned Iran against “blackmailing” the US after it went back on its decision to open the Strait of Hormuz. The US President declared, “They can’t blackmail us”, as he reiterated claims that Washington had eliminated most of the country’s leadership, navy, and air force. He said: “We have very good conversations going on. It’s working out very well – they got a little cute as they have been doing for 47 years. They wanted to close up the strait again, as they’ve been doing for years, they can’t blackmail us. We’ll have some information by the end of the day. We’re talking to them, we’re taking a tough stand.” Tehran is now calling for ships to pay to pass through the strait after it closed the vital waterway again. A statement from the Supreme National Security Council shared by the Fars news agency said Iran would supervise and control traffic through the shipping route “until the war is definitively ended” and a lasting peace is achieved. Before they are allowed through the …

A celebrity influencer’s direct warning to Vladimir Putin that his people might “snap” has prompted a rare acknowledgment of public criticism from the Kremlin. The 18-minute Instagram critique was a surprise pivot for Victoria Bonya, a Monaco-based Russian influencer whose videos are better known for their lifestyle tips. But the former reality television star struck a chord in Russia, where disquiet has been bubbling for months over issues including a sweeping crackdown on the internet. An increasingly sluggish economy and a lack of battlefield progress in Ukraine are also adding to the Kremlin’s woes. “There is a big, fat wall between you and us, the ordinary people,” Bonya, 46, said in a direct address to Putin earlier this week as she accused top officials of being too afraid to tell him the truth. She rattled off to her 13 million followers a number of …

Taiwan Semi Slides Despite Record Results In Warning Sign For Chip Companies

Taiwanese chip giant, Taiwan Semiconductor Manfuacturing Co, said Thursday its net profit surged to a fresh record in the first quarter, fueled by the global artificial intelligence race despite the war in the Middle East. Massive demand for AI hardware means business is booming for TSMC — the biggest contract maker of microchips used in everything from Apple phones to Nvidia processors. TSMC’s net profit for the first three months of the year jumped 58.3% YoY to NT$572.5 billion ($18 billion), beating analyst estimates of NT$540.20 billion as governments and tech giants continue to pour huge sums into building data centers that can train and run AI tools such as chatbots, image generators and agents that can execute tasks. A weaker Taiwanese dollar had also boosted the firm’s revenues from overseas sales: the company said net revenue rose 35.1% YoY to a record NT$1.13 trillion. Gross margin was 66.2% in the first quarter, further increased from a record 62.3% last quarter. Here is the full Q1 breakdown: Sales NT$1.13 trillion, +35% y/y, estimate NT$1.12 trillion Net income NT$572.5 …

World Cup 2026 fury as fans hit with £76 ‘rip off’ – boycott warning issued | World | News

World Cup 2026 fans have been left furious as the New Jersey transport system plans to hike train prices to $100 (£76) for the tournament, a sevenfold increase. As reproted by The Guardian, New Jersey Transit lists the price for a round-trip ticket from New York’s Penn Station to MetLife Stadium, which will host eight World Cup matches this summer, including the final, as $12.90. But pricing for the World Cup period, reported by The Athletic earlier this week, shows a return ticket at more than $100. The pricing does not show any reductions for children, seniors or people with disabilities. New Jersey Transit, however, told Fox 5 New York that the price has not been finalized and a decision is expected in the next few days. Meanwhile, New Jersey’s governor, Mikie Sherrill, has hit out at Fifa after reports the state’s transport system could charge $100 for a return ticket to World Cup matches. ADT Introduces a Glowing Warning Sign and New Emergency Options for Home Security

ADT Introduces a Glowing Warning Sign and New Emergency Options for Home Security

Every security company has them — those yard signs and window stickers you display to let trespassers know that your home is monitored by a security system. But starting Tuesday, ADT is offering a security device I’ve never seen before: a smart yard sign that lights up at night.  Powered by AAA batteries, the Live Light connects to ADT’s hub and can be controlled via the ADT Plus app. You can turn it on at night, which helps notify potential burglars who would otherwise miss a sign in the dark. And if the security system alarm is tripped, the sign will automatically turn on.  A representative from ADT didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.  The Live Light costs $50 when bundled with a professional installation, and right now, it looks like that’s the only way to purchase the smart sign. I wonder if other security brands will follow suit with smart signs of their own — it’s an interesting idea that could also add a smart light to the shadowy corners of your porch or walkway.  ADT’s …

China’s Xi Jinping issues chilling ‘world order disarray’ warning | World | News

China’s President Xi Jinping has chillingly warned the world order is “crumbling into disarray” as the US war with Iran continues to intensify. Donald Trump is currently stepping up America’s blockade on the Strait of Hormuz in a move seen by many as attempting to pressure Iran into a ceasefire deal. In comments made during a meeting with Spanish Minister Pedro Sanchez in Beijing, Xi warned in “today’s world, chaos abounds, and the international order is crumbling”. His remarks came after the US said it had “fully implemented” a blockade of the strait as it sought to take control of the key waterway. Xi Jinping said closer relations between Spain and China were in the interests of both countries and called for greater communication and mutual trust to “uphold the rule of law, jointly defend genuine multilateralism, and safeguard global peace and development”. The visit by Pedro Sánchez comes as Western governments scramble to keep close ties with Beijing despite mounting security and trade tensions, amid growing alarm over the policies of Donald Trump. Statue of Liberty terror attack warning ahead of USA 250 celebrations | US | News

The Statue of Liberty could become the target of a terrorist attack, Burgum warned (Image: Getty) Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum issued a stark warning about a possible terrorist attack on the Statue of Liberty as the United States prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of its independence. Speaking at a press conference in New York, Burgum praised the U.S. Park Police, the nation’s oldest federal law enforcement agency, highlighting their crucial role throughout American history. While discussing their work safeguarding the Statue of Liberty – amongst America’s most recognisable landmarks – he observed it features prominently in imagery on the majority of terrorist recruitment websites, cautioning that it could one day become the target of an assault. “The Statue of Liberty, by the way, is the most featured image on terrorist recruiting sites,” Burgum said. “It’s the thing that, if someone could wreck our 250th anniversary…” He continued by explaining that the U.S. Park Police vets more than 4 million visitors to the monument annually before they embark on the renowned ferry crossing …
