I Asked ChatGPT What WIRED’s Reviewers Recommend. Its Answers Were All Wrong

I Asked ChatGPT What WIRED’s Reviewers Recommend. Its Answers Were All Wrong

WIRED’s Gear Reviews team is one of the best in the game—reviewing products across various categories to help you shop for the best. These buying guides and reviews involve hours of hands-on testing and frequent updates to ensure readers, like you, looking for a pair of headphones or running shoes, have up-to-date information when shopping. (WIRED also may earn affiliate commission when readers click certain links to retailers to buy a recommended product.) In past tests, product recommendations from AI tools, like ChatGPT, have generally fallen short. But OpenAI recently revamped its product recommendation features in ChatGPT to provide a more detailed user experience so you can spend more time with the chatbot and less time reading websites and doing your own research. More people are using AI as a part of their online shopping journey, so I wanted to see where ChatGPT currently stands. OpenAI claims to be improving its product discovery tools. But in my tests, if you want to know what WIRED reviews actually say about a product, visiting the darn website …

Dyson Deals: WIRED’s Top Pick Pet Vacuum and Purifier Heater

Dyson Deals: WIRED’s Top Pick Pet Vacuum and Purifier Heater

For a vacuum company, Dyson can sometimes feel like nerd church. Its devices are a hive of invention: often cool, always expensive, and sometimes the best (or only) device of their kind. Its line of vacuums in particular offers more features than a ’90s multiplex, and so many models it might as well be Paris during fashion week. As with all high-ticket items, it’s best to buy a Dyson when it’s on sale. Dyson has chosen the depths of winter to offer a good sale on a couple of WIRED’s favorite vacuums and heaters. Dyson’s line is a lot to sort through, but luckily, WIRED has spent years sorting Dyson wheat from Dyson chaff. The $350 sale on Dyson’s budget V8 is a pretty-standard issue deal, easy to find at this price through much of last year. WIRED also tends to recommend you look for Dyson V11 models at prices below $400, but this $190-off deal on the V11 Extra is still a decent discount if you’re in the market. Two of WIRED’s favorite top-line …

The 24 Best Shows on Amazon Prime, WIRED’s Picks (January 2026)

Fallout No, your eyes don’t deceive you—a big-budget, streaming original show is back with less than 5,000 years between seasons. Even better, Prime Video’s Fallout remains a grisly delight, brilliantly adapting the postapocalyptic video game series with the delicious blend of campy B-movie schlock and sharp satire that made the first season so enjoyable. Things pick right back up with innocent “vault dweller” Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) venturing toward New Vegas, accompanied by …

The 45 Best Movies on Hulu, WIRED’s Picks (January 2026)

In 2017, Hulu made television history by becoming the first streaming network to win the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, thanks to the phenomenon that was The Handmaid’s Tale. The 51 Best Shows on Hulu, WIRED’s Picks (January 2026)

The 51 Best Shows on Hulu, WIRED’s Picks (January 2026)

While Netflix seemingly led the way for other streaming networks to create compelling original programming, Hulu actually beat them all to the punch. In 2011, a year before Netflix’s Lilyhammer and two years before the arrival of House of Cards, the burgeoning streamer premiered The Morning After, a pop-culture-focused news show that ran for 800 episodes over three years. Hulu has continued to make TV history in the years since, most notably in 2017 when it became the first streamer to win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series with The Handmaid’s Tale (which recently dropped its long-awaited final season). In the years since, the streamer has continued to match—and often exceed—that high bar for quality entertainment with shows such as Shōgun, which set an Emmy record in 2024 with 18 wins in a single season, and The Bear. While more competition has popped up since Hulu started gaining critical credibility, the network has continued to stand out for its carefully curated selection of original series and network partnerships that make it the home of …
