Trader Joe’s is preparing for the warmer months ahead with the launch of six summer-themed mini insulated tote bags.
The retailer announced its line of Summer Fun Mini Insulated Totes to The Independent on Thursday. Each item has a one-and-a-half-gallon capacity, a zipper top and two reinforced handles.
Two of the six bags have a striped design, with one sold in red and pink and another in blue and green. The four other totes — offered in orange, blue, green or purple — feature a silhouette design of a Trader Joe’s store next to palm trees.
The mini cooler bags will drop in stores nationwide starting May 20 and cost $3.99 each.
“Many of our customers have also found that they make quite a statement when used to carry your lunch along to school or work,” a Trader Joe’s spokesperson told The Independent. “Just be sure to pick up a Tote while you can—supplies are limited.”

Trader Joe’s’ aesthetically pleasing mini totes are known for causing pandemonium in stores as fans clamber for the latest release.
The brand released its first line of mini insulated tote bags in 2024, and they quickly sold out. Within days of the cooler bags launching, people began reselling them on eBay, with sets going for almost $50.
In 2024, the grocery chain launched its viral mini canvas tote bags, sold in red, green, blue and yellow for $3 each. The canvas bags were something of a status symbol on social media, with influencers sharing how they customized the totes with paint, buttons and embroidery. Customers even showcased the hours they spent in line, which often went out the shop’s door, to get their hands on a bag.
Fans took over the aisles of Trader Joe’s again in 2025 when the retailer brought the mini canvas tote bags back, in pastel shades of blue, pink, purple, and green. The bags briefly returned to stores in March, but only for a limited time.
The new mini insulated totes come as Trader Joe’s is expanding its business, with plans to open new stores across 12 states. The shops are set to open in California, Washington, Utah, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, Kansas, Illinois, Massachusetts, Georgia, Arizona and New Jersey.
The California-based chain has already opened two new stores since the start of 2026, one in Hamden, Connecticut, and one in Miller Place, New York. After adding almost 100 stores in 2023 and 2024, the grocer now has more than 600 locations nationwide.
