Prince Louis’s adorable voice was revealed in a throwback video posted by his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, in honour of wildlife documentarian David Attenborough’s 100th birthday.
Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate, shared a collection of memories they had with David on their Instagram account, and among the pictures and videos were a series of messages from their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Filmed in 2020, the now eight-year-old was tasked with asking the veteran broadcaster which animal was his favourite.
Standing in front of leafy green foliage, the little prince was dressed in a white knitted jumper that featured red and navy horizontal stripes and a navy collar. He played with a leaf in his hands while he confidently asked his question in an extremely cute toddler’s voice.
“What animal do you like?” the youngest of the Waleses’ brood asked David, who turned 100 years old on 8 May 2026. The star replied to the young royal, stating that he preferred monkeys because they are “so funny”.
Each child had a go at speaking with the wildlife filmmaker via video chat, with a very little George, now 12, asking which animal David thought would become extinct next, while Charlotte, now 10, posed the question: “I like spiders, do you like spiders too?”
The collection of snapshots also featured a family photo showcasing the Waleses spending time with David and their young children in a garden somewhere, before their sweet Q&A.
William and Kate shared the post with a caption that read: “Celebrating 100 years of Sir David Attenborough – a national treasure and an inspiration to us all.”
David’s 100th birthday bash
On the evening of his birthday, David’s life was celebrated with an extravagant event at the Royal Albert Hall, titled David Attenborough’s 100 Years on Planet Earth, attended by senior royals.
While not physically present at the venue, the event also featured a special message from the King, who was assisted by clever animals in delivering a handwritten note to David.
In the note, King Charles reflected on his seven-decade friendship with the naturalist that began when the then nine-year-old Prince Charles visited the set of the BBC children’s programme Zoo Quest in 1958 with his sister Princess Anne.
He wrote: “Dear David. My wife and I are delighted to learn that you will be celebrating your 100th birthday on May 8 and wanted to send you our warmest congratulations on such a special occasion.
“It is amazing to think that you and I have known one another for more than 60 years. Indeed, I believe we first met in 1958, almost a decade before the age of colour television. And, of course, our paths have crossed many times since.”
The King added: “Over those decades, you have revealed the beauty and wonders of nature to audiences around the world in new and marvellous ways.
“In so doing, you have shared my determination to highlight the urgent need to protect and preserve this precious planet of ours and all life on Earth for future generations.
“Thank you then for all that you have done. And on behalf of the whole nation, I wish you a very happy 100th birthday.”
Prince William was seated next to David in a box at the concert and addressed the broadcaster on stage, praising his “boundless curiosity, gentle wisdom and unwavering dedication”.
