The strict royal rules that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Louis are exempt from

The rules that govern royal life are well-known and have been passed down through the generations. From heirs not flying together to royals being discouraged from signing autographs, there is no shortage of traditions and customs for members of the House of Windsor to remember. Things have relaxed in more recent years, however, and, on occasion, some of the younger members of the family – including Prince William and Prince Kate’s children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – have been made exempt from quite a few royal rules.  © UK Press via Getty ImagesZara Tindall was allowed to attend Royal Ascot when she was 8 No children at Royal Ascot For years, there was a strict ban on under-18s attending Royal Ascot. The late Queen Elizabeth broke this rule for her granddaughter Zara Tindall (then Zara Phillips) by following her to attend when she was just eight years old in 1989. Like both her grandmother and her mother, Princess Anne, Zara showed a love of all things equestrian from a young age and so …

Media lawyer Louis Charalambous says media standards have improved

Media lawyer Louis Charalambous says media standards have improved

Louis Charalambous. Picture: Submitted A media lawyer who represented some of the most high-profile victims of tabloid wrongdoing said journalism standards are much higher today. Speaking to Press Gazette’s Future of Media Explained podcast, Louis Charalambous said the idea that publishers can act with impunity is very far from the truth given the high cost today of defending legal claims. In 2008 he won some £600,000 in damages for Robert Murat over groundless reports in a number of newspapers suggesting he was involved in the disappearance in of Madeleine McCann. And in 2011, Charalambous secured “substantial” libel damages from eight newspapers over stories that wrongly implicated retired schoolteacher Chris Jefferies in the murder of of Joanna Yeates. In the case of Murat a reporter speculated that it was strange that he, a nearby resident, was hanging around the crime scene (he was in fact assisting the McCanns with translation services). Jefferies was apparently targeted largely because of his “posh voice and unusual hair”. In more recent years Charalambous has acted for publishers, representing The Sun …

‘SNL UK’ Louis Theroux sketch gets a cameo from the man himself

Louis Theroux, legendary documentary-maker and the man behind that viral “Jiggle Jiggle” song, has such a long career in TV that he’s created more than a few catch-phrases that beg to be parodied. Fortunately he’s clearly a very good sport about it, even popping up at the end of the SNL UK clip above in which cast members Larry Dean and Al Nash, and guest host Ncuti Gatwa, all play a version of Theroux. Cue a lot of “Is that fair to say?” and “Shall we get started?” Want more of the best of late night? Sign up for Mashable’s Top Stories newsletter. Topics SNL Source link

Prince Louis’ speaking voice is seriously adorable in unearthed David Attenborough video

Prince Louis’ speaking voice is seriously adorable in unearthed David Attenborough video

Prince Louis’s adorable voice was revealed in a throwback video posted by his parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, in honour of wildlife documentarian David Attenborough’s 100th birthday.  Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate, shared a collection of memories they had with David on their Instagram account, and among the pictures and videos were a series of messages from their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.  Filmed in 2020, the now eight-year-old was tasked with asking the veteran broadcaster which animal was his favourite.  Standing in front of leafy green foliage, the little prince was dressed in a white knitted jumper that featured red and navy horizontal stripes and a navy collar. He played with a leaf in his hands while he confidently asked his question in an extremely cute toddler’s voice.  “What animal do you like?” the youngest of the Waleses’ brood asked David, who turned 100 years old on 8 May 2026. The star replied to the young royal, stating that he preferred monkeys because they are “so …

Blake Lively Baldoni Settlement, Louis C.K. Returns to Netflix

Blake Lively Baldoni Settlement, Louis C.K. Returns to Netflix

LOST: Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni: A year ago, I argued Lively and Baldoni were locked in mutually assured destruction and only their lawyers, the media and fans obsessively watching this feud would be the real winners (writing at the time, “In the lawsuit filings, Lively comes across like somebody who would order the launch of nuclear warheads over not getting a booth at a restaurant. Whereas Baldoni seems like somebody who would burst into tears when a Tinder date fails to praise his unsolicited dick pic”). That prediction turned out to be correct. The duo settled this week ahead of their courtroom showdown and issued a needle-thread media statement, which was a meaningless, blameless word salad with hedge sauce. If a New York Post report is correct that no money changed hands — except for the duo paying a stunning $60 million in legal fees — the settlement is even more striking. All that drama … for a stalemate and statement? The budget for It Ends With Us was $25 million. Lively and Baldoni …

Louis C.K. Is “Officially Uncancelled” Thanks to Netflix

Louis C.K. Is “Officially Uncancelled” Thanks to Netflix

Back in late 2017, when accusations of misconduct against C.K. surfaced, Hollywood was entering its #MeToo era. Harvey Weinstein had just been accused by dozens of women of sexual misconduct (charges he has denied), while allegations were also beginning to build against powerful men like Kevin Spacey, Brett Ratner, and Charlie Rose (all of whom denied or refuted claims levied against them). The industry was moving with unusual speed and panic. Dave Becky, the legendary comedy manager whose client roster included Amy Poehler, Aziz Ansari, and Issa Rae, dropped C.K. days after The New York Times published sexual misconduct allegations from five women, four of whom alleged that C.K. masturbated in interactions with them, and at least one of whom alleged she denied his request to masturbate in front of her. (C.K. has admitted to masturbating in front of women but he’s said, “I never showed a woman my dick without asking first.”) A film distributor shelved I Love You, Daddy, C.K.’s black-and-white film about a television writer whose teenage daughter becomes involved with an …

Louis C.K. Gets Standing Ovation at Netflix Comedy Festival

Louis C.K. Gets Standing Ovation at Netflix Comedy Festival

In 2017, Louis C.K. was largely exiled from comedy after five women accused him of sexual misconduct at the height of the #MeToo movement. Cut to 2026, and he headlined a show at the Hollywood Bowl as part of the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival. C.K. took the stage in L.A. on Tuesday night, the show serving as the final stop of the worldwide “Ridiculous” tour he’s been on for the last year. The iconic venue was roughly 75 percent full, mostly of male fans in their 20s and 30s, who came to life when the comedian started his set after four opening acts. He never addressed the misconduct allegations — the women alleged that he masturbated in front of them or on the phone with them as C.K. later admitted to the behavior, saying he believed at the time it had been appropriate because he had asked first — and returned to his regular raunchy material. The hour of jokes centered heavily around sex, with bits on penises, vaginas, STDs and Barely Legal magazine. The …

Prince Louis Celebrated His Eighth Birthday With a Brand New Smiley Photo

Prince Louis Celebrated His Eighth Birthday With a Brand New Smiley Photo

Cheeky smile, arms folded, hair tousled: one of the most faithful portraits of Prince Louis was shared on Kensington Palace’s official social media accounts to celebrate his birthday on April 23. The photo of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s youngest child was taken by photographer Matt Porteous during a short vacation that the Wales family took in Cornwall earlier this month to coincide with Easter. “Happy birthday, Louis! 8 today!” reads the caption alongside a brand-new image of the young royal. Birthday wishes for Prince Louis poured in from various followers, many of whom remarked on how much he has grown and his visible maturity despite his small stature. Perhaps because of the outpouring of birthday messages, a few hours later, Kensington Palace shared a video of Prince Louis. “Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Prince Louis. 8 is great!” the short clip is captioned. The montage features Louis playing on the beach, swinging a bat, and jumping into the ocean—a snapshot of carefree moments typical of a normal childhood. Prior to this …
