The tumultuous long-term relationship between Duck Dynasty’s Lisa and Al Robertson is receiving the Lifetime movie treatment.
Al, 61, the eldest son of the Robertson family patriarch and matriarch Phil and Kay, has been married to his wife for more than four decades. The two first met in high school and dated on and off for years before tying the knot in 1984.
Then, 15 years into their marriage, Lisa was contacted by an old boyfriend and engaged in an extramarital affair. Rather than letting the infidelity destroy their marriage, the pair reconciled — a chapter of their lives that will now be explored in the movie Faith & Forgiveness: A Duck Dynasty Love Story, premiering Friday on Lifetime.
With Luke Benward starring as Al and Haley Ramm as Lisa, the film follows the couple as they “decide if love is worth fighting for, and what it truly means to forgive,” according to an official logline.
Speaking to Fox News Digital ahead of the movie’s release, Al opened up about his decision to remain married to Lisa.

“I think the reason I was willing to fight for my marriage was that I had made a lot of mistakes on my own,” he explained, admitting that he had also been unfaithful in the early years of their relationship.
“When I first met Lisa, she was actually a good girl, who had experienced some hard things in her life up until that point, but really was looking for what she called her ‘knight in shining armor,’ someone to take her hand and lead her out of some things. And I just wasn’t that guy in the early years,” he said.
Al added that Lisa’s sincere remorse for her actions ultimately changed his heart and mind about the situation. “It was obvious to me from talking to friends who were with her that she wanted this marriage to stay together,” he said.
“She was very sorry for what had happened,” he continued. “She had finally come to a reckoning in her own life. She was dealing with a lot of her past through counseling, through people who were helping her life.”

Lisa disclosed to the outlet that she was molested at an early age.
“I believe that at age 7, I began to be dishonest with who I was and what I was. I think the evil one played a huge part in that because he would constantly remind me,” she said. “I believe I started on that trail of dishonesty at that point, and that darkness really began there. As I grew older, it got worse and worse.”
While the pair — who have two adult daughters, Anna and Alex, and six grandchildren — initially agreed to a temporary split, they ultimately came back together to renew their vows in 1999.
Faith & Forgiveness: A Duck Dynasty Love Story airs Friday on Lifetime at 8 p.m. ET.
