If you’re a Criminal Minds fan, the name change won’t deter you from the gritty nature of the popular crime drama – even if it can prove a little confusing.
Now technically also known as Criminal Minds: Evolution, the name change merely signals the continuation of the series, after a two-year gap between the original show’s 15th season (which was to be the show’s last following a cancellation) and the 16th, which was the first under the Evolution banner after being revived by Paramount+.
Nevertheless, Criminal Minds is in its 19th season and once again, will transport us back into the centre of the Behavioural Analysis Unit (BAU) where our group of profilers continue to be pushed to their limits.
This season sees Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) rear his head once again but with the return of the psychopath plus new cases on their plates, how will the BAU cope under such pressure? The nineteenth season also marks the introduction of new guest cast member Connor Storrie (Heated Rivalry), Yvette Nicole Brown (Community) and Justin Kirk (Angels in America), among many others.

Criminal Minds season 19 will likely premiere on Disney+ in the UK, as is the case with all its previous seasons.
As of now, a UK release date for the 19th season hasn’t yet been confirmed but we can expect the new season’s episodes to be released weekly.
In the US, Criminal Minds season 19 premieres on Paramount+ on 28 May so we can expect that there won’t be too long to wait over on this side of the pond. Watch this space!
What will Criminal Minds season 19 be about?
The synopsis for the 19th season of Criminal Minds reads: “In season 19, the elite profilers are pushed to their limits. As the BAU investigates a string of chilling new cases, Elias Voit embarks on a path to atone for his past.
“His newfound infamy inadvertently awakens their most formidable nemesis yet, The Fan. Precise, calculating, and relentlessly dangerous, this UnSub pushes the BAU to the brink and back under the shadow of Elias Voit. But how far will The Fan go to prove his superiority over his idol?”
The series will once again feature the main cast of Joe Mantegna, AJ Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, RJ Hatanaka, Zach Gilford, Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster.
