Nicole Kidman may be a famous Hollywood star, but she is still able to embarrass her children from time to time!
The actress shares her youngest daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15, with ex-husband Keith Urban, and recently opened up about their home life during a live event, HISTORYTalks, in Philadelphia, alongside former Today host Hoda Kotb.
The Babygirl actress revealed that she had a two-minute rule in place for Sunday and Faith that they are made to do every day.
“Both my daughters will kill me for saying this, but I’m like, ‘You need to hug [me] for two minutes a day,'” she said. “It releases certain chemicals in the body and everyone needs to be hugged for about two minutes a day. Did you know that?”
The star has a close bond with her daughters, who she called “extraordinary,” and loves nothing more than watching them grow into their own people. “[My mother] told me, ‘Don’t ever let anyone break your spirit,'” she added, explaining it was something she was now teaching her own children. Nicole also said that she and her daughters are “so close” and that they “talk about everything.”
The family have gone through a huge change over the past year, with Nicole and Keith announcing their split after 19 years of marriage back in September.
The divorce was finalized in January. The actress recently commented on how she was feeling afterward. Earlier in April, she told The Age Australia: “I’m good. I’m holding steady, That’s a good place to be able to say.”
Speaking for the first time about her divorce to Variety earlier this month, Nicole admitted that 2025 was a difficult year for her.
“I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell.” She then spoke directly about her split from Keith when asked if she was doing all right post-separation.
“I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good,” she said, noting that her family was and always will remain her number one priority. “What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward,” Nicole continued.
“That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
