Several people were killed and many others injured when a fire broke out during a New Year’s celebration at a bar in southern Switzerland, police said Thursday.

The incident at Le Constellation in Crans-Montana occurred at 1:30 a.m., police said in a statement. The cause is unknown. Crans-Montana is a ski resort in the Alps, in the canton of Valais.
