Visitors from north west told ‘go elsewhere’ after ‘unacceptable’ Bank Holiday beach chaos

Visitors from across the north west have been warned over ‘unacceptable’ behaviour at UK beaches over the Bank Holiday weekend, in which a teenager was attacked and there was parking chaos. Those visiting coastal towns to make the most of the hot weather have been warned by police and local councils following a series of disturbances in the north west, and told to ‘go elsewhere’ if they can’t ‘act responsibly’. During hot weather, beaches at Ainsdale, Formby and Crosby receive an ‘extraordinary number of visitors’, Sefton Council said. ‘Our Edinburgh neighbourhood is being overrun with destructive TikTok youths’

Edinburgh residents and businesses hit by a recent spate of anti-social behaviour by young people in their area have revealed the extent of the trouble they regularly face. Locals in the north-west of the capital say they have dealt with youths causing havoc in residential blocks, streets and shops. Some incidents have required the police to attend. Although they added this had always been an issue to some extent, only recently has it noticeably worsened. We previously reported how a private hire driver narrowly avoided a brick landing on his car after it was reportedly thrown alongside stones from a bridge above Crewe Road North last month. Although police attended, it is understood the gang of youths responsible fled the scene. Shops selling food and alcohol in particular have reportedly been targeted for theft and vandalism, especially around the Drylaw area of Ferry Road, and on Pennywell Road. One shop worker told Edinburgh Live: “I’ve had to block the door because kids are coming in with boxes and using them to steal sweets and alcohol. …

Gangs of youths run riot in Clapham for second night

Gangs of youths ran riot in Clapham for a second night on Tuesday. Scores of teenagers forced branches of Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s and Boots to close in one of south London’s most well-to-do areas. Police made two arrests, and dozens of officers were sent to the scene in an attempt to quell the anti-social behaviour. But the youths refused to obey orders to disperse and faced off against the police. The scenes are the latest in a trend in which large groups of teenagers run riot through shops and high streets. Dozens of officers were sent to the scene in an attempt to quell the anti-social behaviour Last month, footage showed hooded teenagers running through the streets of Wolverhampton, hurling eggs at buses and pedestrians. Hundreds of youths descended on a streetwear pop-up shop in Soho, central London, resulting in scuffles with police. On Tuesday night, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said the force was still at the scene of the disorder, and that two girls had been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a member …
