Claude Deleted a Company’s Entire Database, Illustrating a Danger Every CEO Should Be Aware of

Sign up to see the future, today Can’t-miss innovations from the bleeding edge of science and tech AI agents can often act more like double agents, sabotaging a company from the inside. Have the legions of tech-brained big wigs heeded this lesson? Of course not. On Friday, Jer Crane, the founder of the SaaS startup PocketOS, claimed that its Claude-powered Cursor coding agent screwed up so badly that it completely wiped out the company’s database in a matter of seconds. Taking no prisoners, it also vanquished all the database’s recent backups. If the AI agent had in fact been working undercover, its handlers better pin a medal on it. Crane detailed the catastrophe in a lengthy post on X. His account heavily relies on the AI’s self-diagnosis on what went wrong, meaning it’s not wholly reliable. But as he tells it, things went off the rails when Cursor, running Anthropic’s flagship Claude Opus 4.6 model, was handling a “routine task.” When the AI encountered a simple credential problem, it decided to fix it by deleting …

Instead, I saw a stranger ask her, “Do you like children?” She responded to the stranger: “I’m not a MAP.” I had never heard the term before. When I asked her what “MAP” meant, she simply answered that it stands for minor-attracted person. In that moment, I realized something unsettling but important: Children are encountering coded language online long before many parents even know it exists. Why I’m writing about this In my broader research on online harms to children and teens, I examine how the design and governance of websites and apps influence real‑world safety outcomes. My forthcoming research explores how social media platforms, messaging apps and gaming communities succeed and fail at …

Marvel’s problems don’t end on screen – here’s the MCU complaint you might not be aware of

Marvel’s problems don’t end on screen – here’s the MCU complaint you might not be aware of

For many people, the flipping pages in Marvel Studios’ opening graphic are the only comic books they’ve ever engaged with. What you probably don’t realise is that Marvel Comics editors have been working tirelessly to change that for nearly two decades – but may actually have done some damage in the process. Ask a regular reader about today’s comic book landscape and you’ll likely get the same response: DC is on a winning streak, Marvel is in a creative slump, and both find themselves dwarfed by the booming popularity of manga. There’s a lot to say about all three topics, but today, we’re focusing on the oft-stated decline of Marvel Comics and its connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s own fading fortunes; both are the wounded victims of their own success. But how did we get here? And more importantly, how do we get back? Want to see this content? This page contains content provided by Google reCAPTCHA. Making breakfast, paying bills, shopping, driving, managing appointments and keeping track of medications are tasks done almost automatically. For most, these routines run smoothly, but for some, small disruptions begin to creep in. These small struggles matter. Perhaps it starts with uncharacteristically forgetting to add an item to the grocery list or misplacing a pair of glasses. Maybe a chequebook gets mismanaged, or a favourite recipe becomes harder to follow. These moments can be brushed off as part of aging or blamed on a busy mind. Yet, when these new difficulties persist over time, they may be more than just minor frustrations; they might be early signs of something far deeper. Understanding functional changes Daily functioning is a key measure of independence, reflecting not only memory, but the co-ordination, planning and attention …

Bruce Willis Isn’t Aware That He’s Sick, Wife Emma Heming Willis Says

Bruce Willis does not know that he is sick, wife Emma Heming Willis confirmed in a podcast interview released this week. He still does not understand what is happening to him, she says, and is unaware of the diagnosis that, since 2023, has forever changed his life and that of his family. “Bruce never connected the dots. He never realized he had this disease.” Emma said on the latest episode of the Conversations with Cam podcast. “It is both a blessing and a curse,” she continued. “But I’m really glad he doesn’t know.” After an initial diagnosis of aphasia, which was announced in 2022, the Die Hard star stepped away from acting. After reports of a more significant cognitive decline, his family announced that further testing had revealed that Willis was suffering from frontotemporal dementia, a progressive neurodegenerative disease for which there is no cure. FTD is the most common form of dementia in people under 60 (Bruce Willis is 70) and can also manifest with loss of motor skills, difficulty walking, swallowing or muscle …

Watch: Convicted Minnesota Scammer Says Walz, Ellison Were Aware Of $250M Fraud

The media has been giving quite a lot of attention to Aimee Bock, the head of a Minnesota nonprofit at the center of the largest pandemic relief fraud in the nation’s history – which she now says Governor Tim Walz and AG Keith Ellison had to have known about. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz speaks during a House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing, June 12, 2025, at the U.S. Capitol in Washington. (AP Photo/Julia Demaree Nikhinson, File) To review; Bock’s organization, Feeding Our Future, fraudulently signed off on $250 million in federal funds meant to feed underprivileged children in Minnesota roughly 125 million nonexistent meals. According to prosecutors, as little as 3% of the funds were actually used to feed children. Bock, 45, was charged with signing off on reimbursement claims for the unserved meals, as well as collecting bribes. She maintains her innocence, while one Somali community leader told a local reporter that Bock was “a modern-day Robin Hood.” Feeding Our Future was a “sponsoring organization,” meaning it approved meal sites, approved meal counts, and distributed the reimbursements to …

AWARE’s new executive director, DEI expert Lim Shoon Yin, takes over as Corinna Lim steps down

Women’s rights group Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE) saw a change in leadership on Jan 1, 2026. Corinna Lim, 61, is stepping down after 16 years as AWARE’s executive director. She is succeeded by Lim Shoon Yin, 50, a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) expert. Corinna Lim will remain in an advisory role for six months before fully handing over leadership. Founded in 1985, AWARE conducts research and advocacy on issues affecting women in Singapore, including workplace discrimination and sexual harassment, the poverty faced by older women and Singapore’s compliance with United Nations standards on gender equality. Corinna Lim, who is a lawyer by training and has a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University, joined AWARE as a volunteer in 1992, providing pro bono legal counselling to women dealing with workplace harassment and domestic abuse. She recognised how women from underprivileged backgrounds suffered as they could not afford legal advice. She eventually left corporate law to focus on women’s rights work, later serving as AWARE’s honorary secretary in 2006 before becoming its first …
