Bam Adebayo’s 83-Point Game Was Bad Basketball and Bad TV

Bam Adebayo’s 83-Point Game Was Bad Basketball and Bad TV

Congratulations to Bam Adebayo on scoring 83 points against the Washington Wizards last night. I guess. Adebayo, who is (now) averaging 20 points per game this season (18.5 prior to last night) and 16.1 PPG over his nine-year career, all with the Miami Heat, scored the second-most points ever in an NBA game, passing Kobe Bryant‘s 81-point masterpiece in 2006 and settling in behind only Wilt Chamberlain’s storied 100-point game in 1962. It is a hell of an accomplishment — except for the parts where it was kind of pathetic. In 42 minutes on a random Tuesday night in March, Adebayo shot a meh 20-43 (46.5 percent) from the field and made a meh 7-of-22 (31.8 percent) three-point attempts. On Bryant’s own historic night, in which he scored two points fewer than Adebayo’s sum, the Los Angeles Lakers legend shot 60.1 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from downtown. Thus far, the math isn’t mathing. Adebayo’s 83 was only made possible by an absurd number of foul calls against the 6’9″ center, serving two …

Miami Heat teammates celebrate center Bam Adebayo (13) after he scored 83 points, the second-highest single game total in NBA history, in an NBA basketball game against the Washington Wizards, Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in Miami. Rebecca Blackwell/AP hide caption toggle caption Rebecca Blackwell/AP MIAMI — It’s Wilt, then Bam. Bam Adebayo had a night for all time on Tuesday, with a point total second to only Wilt Chamberlain in the NBA record books. Adebayo scored 83 points, setting league marks for free throws made and attempted in a game for the Miami Heat in a 150-129 win over the Washington Wizards. “An absolutely surreal night,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “Obviously, we’ve been blessed to have been part of a lot of big moments in this arena. This one, it just happened. Moments happen and I’m grateful that we’re all able to be a part of it and witness it.” Chamberlain’s record of 100 points has stood since 1962. Kobe Bryant — one of Adebayo’s basketball heroes — was No. 2 on the list …

Robert Rauschenberg, Laurie Anderson, Trisha Brown Converge at BAM

Robert Rauschenberg, Laurie Anderson, Trisha Brown Converge at BAM

Avant-garde dance can be much sillier than it seems. I was reminded of this—much to my delight—at a recent rehearsal for Set and Reset, a collaboration between icons that premiered at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in 1983. Trisha Brown did the choreography, Laurie Anderson did the music, and Robert Rauschenberg did the costumes and the sets. Talk about a dream team! This weekend, it’s back at BAM as part of an international tour celebrating Rauschenberg’s 100th birthday. Charmingly named “Dancing with Bob,” the tour runs through May, with a program that also includes Travelogue (1977). That piece was choreographed by Merce Cunningham and is being restaged by Trisha Brown Company—for the first time, by a professional dance company, since 1979. Meanwhile, another set Rauschenberg made for Brown’s Glacial Decoy (1979) is also on view at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis through May. Olympic art project in a Milan park invites the public to ‘reflect’ on the Games’ spirit

MILAN (AP) — A project in Olympics host city Milan has invited parkgoers to reflect on the values of sport — both figuratively and literally. “Together to Reflect” was conceived as a collective artwork that takes shape as slender stakes topped with mirrors, on which people write their thoughts about sports and the Games. Anthony Cardamone was scrolling through Instagram when the initiative caught his eye. That prompted him to head to a corner of the public park known by its Italian acronym BAM with his wife and 7-year-old daughter on Sunday. It was the only day scheduled for people to write their messages. “For me, sport is about being together, it’s about sharing and measuring your own abilities,” said Cardamone, whose daughter wrote the word “brave” on one of the dozens of mirrored flowers. “This activity helps her understand why sport is important and how beautiful it can be,” he added. The project was developed by BAM and NABA, Milan’s academy of fine arts. “When people think about the Olympics, they often think only …

While Margera, 46, an original and core member of the Jackass crew, will appear in the new movie through archival footage, he will not be filming any new stunts. Speaking recently to TMZ about the agreement, the former stuntman — who was fired from the fourth film, Jackass Forever (2022), after an alleged breach of contract related to his documented drug and alcohol use — admitted that he was still “hurt” about the whole ordeal. “If you had a laundry list of the chain of horrible events of the two years of Covid that they put me through, spending my own money at an alarming rate for therapists, doctors and treatment and all this, …
