The Israeli military has put out a statement noting that, “following a review, it can be determined that the explosive device did not belong to the IDF and was most likely placed in the area by the Hezbollah terrorist organization”. The IDF said its soldiers had not been present in the area recently and the Lebanese army vehicle had entered what it described as the security zone without prior coordination with Israel, as required under an existing coordination mechanism. Two young boys have tragically lost their lives after allegedly being left inside a car “to sleep” on a popular holiday island. The boys, aged eight and ten, were discovered dead inside the vehicle, which had been left parked in a field close to a residential area in Cyprus. Energy storage startup Base Power began selling its massive home battery systems to residents of Illinois yesterday, Canary Media reported. Crucially, it’ll be the startup’s first foray into the grid territory operated by PJM Interconnection, the largest U.S. grid operator by territory, and one that has particularly struggled to cope with an onslaught of new data centers. Beyond Illinois, PJM’s territory includes Northern Virginia, one of the densest data center regions on the planet. That density, coupled with a paucity of new generating sources, has caused wholesale electricity prices in PJM to nearly double over the past year. The power crunch has gotten so bad that AEP, one of the region’s largest utilities, has threatened to leave the market. The home of the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet requires a “massive investment”, a defence minister has admitted. Ageing infrastructure at HMNB Clyde, also known as Faslane, has played its part in long-running availability issues of both the Navy’s Astute-class attack submarines and the Vanguard-class which carry the Trident nuclear deterrent missile. Defence Readiness Minister Luke Pollard said the much-delayed Defence Investment Plan (DIP) will free up cash for the base. He said: “We need good facilities to dock the submarines, we need good facilities to maintain the submarines and we need good facilities for our people who work there.
