Jennifer Lopez’s child debuts name change at high school graduation – with support from Ben Affleck’s son

Jennifer Lopez’s eldest child, Emme Maribel Muñiz, graduated from high school on May 28. Emme’s father, Marc Anthony, was seemingly absent from the celebration, with the 18-year-old supported by their mom, twin brother Max, and former stepbrother, Samuel Affleck. It also appears that Emme graduated with a new name. In a March post shared by an Instagram account that tracks the college decisions of graduating Windward seniors, Jennifer’s kid was named as Oskar Muñiz and revealed that they plan to begin college to study theater and studio arts this fall. The post featured a childhood photo of Emme alongside their new name and future college logo. “Oskar to Sarah Lawrence! No more impromptu NYC trips because he’ll be living there! Good thing it’s only a few hours away from Stagedoor. Go gryphons!! Congrats!!!” read the caption.  © WireImageMax Muniz, Emme Muniz and Jennifer Lopez The post was liked by Jennifer Garner, who was previously married to the singer’s ex-husband, Ben Affleck. Obama’s former speechwriter Ben Rhodes examines the US through its 15 most defining speeches | Books

Obama’s former speechwriter Ben Rhodes examines the US through its 15 most defining speeches | Books

Donald Trump “has proven Jeremiah Wright correct about a lot of things”, said Ben Rhodes, a former speechwriter and deputy national security adviser to Barack Obama and still a close aide to the ex-president. “If you look at the things that Jeremiah Wright was kind of canceled for, it was saying America was a nation founded on racism. Well, it’s a fairly common view these days. 9/11 was the chickens coming home to roost? I make versions of that argument every time I write for the New York Times: that American foreign policy has blowback.” Rhodes was discussing Wright because the Chicago pastor was at the center of a fraught episode in Obama’s rise to power, which forms a key chapter in his new book, All We Say – The Battle for American Identity: A History in 15 Speeches. During the 2008 Democratic primary, footage emerged of Wright featuring lines like “God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human” and calling Obama, to whom he ministered, “a Black man living in a …

Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire goes woke with Rosa Parks revisionism

Ben Shapiro’s Daily Wire goes woke with Rosa Parks revisionism

Earlier this month, the Supreme Court further hollowed out the Voting Rights Act, continuing a decades-long project of dismantling the legal infrastructure that protected Black suffrage. Observing the responses to the decision, The Nation’s Elie Mystal noted the distinct tenor of celebration from conservatives delighted at the possibility of vanquishing Black political power through gerrymandering.  Now the right-wing media ecosystem appears ready for the next phase of the project. If Black political gains are to be rolled back, then the historical basis for those gains must also be discredited. The Civil Rights Movement cannot remain a sacred democratic triumph if modern conservatives hope to argue that anti-discrimination laws represented a constitutional mistake.  In the trailer for a new Daily Wire series titled “The Real History of the Civil Rights Movement,” the voice of right-wing podcaster Matt Walsh drips with the practiced solemnity of a whistleblower exposed a grand conspiracy. “Since the 1990s, America’s classrooms have turned Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks into sacred Civil Rights icons,” he says. “But what if almost everything …

‘White Lotus’ Season 4 Casts Ben Kingsley, Max Minghella

The White Lotus is booking in some last-minute guests for its fourth season. Ben Kingsley, Max Minghella and Pekka Strang have joined the HBO show’s sprawling cast as filming continues in France. The three actors will have recurring roles in the coming season. As has been the case throughout the White Lotus casting process, details on the roles Kingsley, Minghella and Strang will play are being kept under (luxury, high thread count) wraps. Season four is currently filming in Cannes and Saint-Tropez, France (with some filming also happening in Paris) and will be set against the backdrop of the Cannes Film Festival — which, in real life, kicks off Tuesday. Kingsley, Minghella and Strang join a cast that also features (deep breath) Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Laura Dern — who came aboard after Helena Bonham Carter departed — Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani and Nadia Tereszkiewicz, along with Chloe Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer and Laura Smet. In a new lawsuit, multiple officers involved in the original 2016 bust have claimed that the film has caused “unfair reputational harm,” according to local outlet 7 News Miami. The Onion’s Ben Collins Is Still Trying to Get His Hands on Infowars

The Onion’s Ben Collins Is Still Trying to Get His Hands on Infowars

Nevertheless, Collins and The Onion continued their fight. Most recently, they attempted to enter a leasing situation with the far-right media company, where, for $81,000 a month, they would license the infowars.com domain and brand name, as well as any associated intellectual property. After six months, they would have the option to renew the deal. But unfortunately for The Onion, the Texas court system has once again prevented that plan from coming to fruition. If and when they do finally get their hands on Infowars, The Onion won’t waste any time revamping it. “We intend on flipping it over right away,” said Collins. “We got a bunch of bullshit ready to go. It’s really stupid. Everything that we have planned is very, very dumb. So I hope people get excited for that.” Days before the ruling, Collins’s excitement was palpable. “Frankly, the newspaper is doing so well that we need to give them more space to show that off,” he said. “Not every media merger and acquisition has to be the worst news you’ve ever …
