The US vice-president said the teenager’s death “is as tragic as it is enraging” in a thinly-veiled attack on Keir Starmer’s government. Eighteen-year-old Henry was handcuffed and arrested by police as he lay dying after being wrongly accused of racism by his killer, Vickram Digwa. Digwa, who is a British-born Sikh, was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years at Southampton Crown Court on Monday. The case has sparked a furious political row, with Reform UK leader Nigel Farage being condemned by the PM and Kemi Badenoch for claiming it is proof of “two-tier policing” in the UK. The remarks follow ‌a weekend rally where Sheinbaum denounced alleged interference by U.S. government ⁠agencies and ⁠business interests. “I believe it is sectors of the far right ​in the United States who want a bad relationship with Mexico” because of “ideological” differences, Sheinbaum told a press conference. The blame game over surging gas prices is heating up as Gov. Gavin Newsom suggested Chevron could be gouging its customers. California’s governor, who is not shy about promoting his positions with provocative posts, warned Memorial Day travelers on X against pumping gas at Chevron. “Californians, if you’re hitting the road this holiday weekend, be sure to AVOID Chevron,” he said in the post, which included screen grabs showing Chevron gas prices higher than those at nearby unbranded gas stations. “Unbranded gas comes from the same refineries, storage tanks, and pipelines.” The governor’s call-out is part of a larger spat between some California politicians and Chevron. The Sudanese government has accused Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates of being behind recent drone attacks, including at Khartoum airport. Military spokesperson Brigadier General Asim Awad Abdelwahab told a news conference on Tuesday that Sudan’s government, which has recalled its ambassador from Ethiopia, had obtained evidence of four drone attacks since March 1 originating from neighbouring Ethiopia’s Bahir Dar airport.
