But in the last several months, I’ve tested an increasing number of affordable versions of this new earring style of open true-wireless earbuds that sound surprisingly good. Case in point: Baseus’ Bowie MC2 buds, which list for $80 but can be had for $60 after you apply an instant $20-off coupon on their product page at Amazon or the company’s site.  Read more: The 6 Best Clip-On Earbuds I’ve Tested for 2026 The Bowie MC2 improves upon the earlier MC1 with superior sound and a design that’s a little less generic. Written and directed by Mark Grimmer, David Bowie: You’re Not Alone opens at the immersive space on 22 April and features “holy grail” footage of Bowie performing his song “Heroes” at Earl’s Court in 1978. Grimmer’s relationship with Bowie’s work goes back to at least 2013, when he served as lead designer on the V&A Museum’s Bowie Is exhibition. “Since that point, I think I’d always thought there was more work to be done with Bowie as a character, as a performer,” he told The Independent. Following the opening of Lightroom in 2023 with its groundbreaking David Hockney exhibition Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away), the venue’s team reached out to Bowie’s estate, who came to see the artist’s exhibit. …

No. Did millennial audiences in 2001 immediately understand that Brian Helgeland’s A Knight’s Tale – out again in cinemas this week – was exactly what they wanted anyway? Absolutely. Five years after Baz Luhrmann had proved that modern soundtracks could electrify period texts in Romeo + Juliet, Helgeland applied the same logic to tournaments in the Middle Ages, and discovered it worked brilliantly. For this is a film so joyous and free of pretentiousness that questions about historical accuracy splinter on impact. Part of the film’s pleasure is indeed how gleefully it flaunts every bizarre, lurid anachronism: peasants hammer wooden stands to “We Will Rock You”, courtly balls pivot to Seventies disco, and the whole thing vibrates with a classic-rock swagger that feels bracingly alive. Heartwarming, too. …

David Bowie Immersive Experience Comes to London in April

David Bowie Immersive Experience Comes to London in April

The UK can’t seem to get enough of David Bowie. “David Bowie Is,” an exhibition about the late pop icon’s life, music, videos, and art, was organized by the V&A in London, where it opened in 2013 and proceeded to tour the world for five years. The V&A also recently opened the David Bowie Centre, a permanent installation of objects drawn from the musician’s 90,000-item archives, housed in the museum’s new storage facility in East London. Now comes “David Bowie: You’re Not Alone,” will open on April 22 at Lightroom, a venue for immersive exhibitions near London’s Kings Cross Station. Related Articles “You’re Not Alone” is organized by Mark Grimmer, the creative director of “David Bowie Is.” The immersive experience will feature performance footage, interviews, film clips, drawings, and other visual materials projected onto Lightroom’s nearly 40-foot-tall walls and floor. Grimmer also produced Lightroom’s inaugural exhibition in 2023, “David Hockney: Bigger & Closer (not smaller & further away),” featuring projections of the English artist’s photography, collages, iPad drawings, and paintings. I paid homage to David Bowie on a special Soho staycation with a rock’n’roll twist

I paid homage to David Bowie on a special Soho staycation with a rock’n’roll twist

As the world stopped to mourn David Bowie’s passing, 10 January 2016 seemed to mark the day the music died. Ten years later, however, rock’n’roll is still very much alive in a corner of Soho that boasts a proud musical legacy. The Sex Pistols once lived in Denmark Street, the Rolling Stones recorded in the area and Bowie hung out here, helping to establish a heritage that’s still visible in the numerous guitar shops that have long packed this compact street’s 100-yard length. Now, Chateau Denmark is providing the ideal way to soak up the neighbourhood’s rich history, offering 44 apartments and rooms across 16 buildings on Denmark Street, all imaginatively crafted to bring a rock’n’roll twist to the luxury London hotel. Chateau Denmark provides a luxe sanctuary in Soho Whether you’re a native of the capital or simply visiting, it’s an ideal base from which to explore Soho, whether you fancy taking in world-class art at the nearby National Gallery or perusing the big brands and unique boutiques of Covent Garden. There’s also a …

David Bowie and the Search for Life, Death and God by Peter Ormerod review – the making of a modern saint | Biography books

David Bowie and the Search for Life, Death and God by Peter Ormerod review – the making of a modern saint | Biography books

It has become a tired cliche among fans to say that everything went wrong in the world after Bowie died in 2016. It also misses the point: rather than being one of the last avatars of a liberal order that has crumbled around our ears, Bowie prophesied the mayhem that has replaced it. In his later years, he thought that we had entered a zone of chaos and fragmentation. This is what allowed him to be so prescient about the internet – not its promise, but its menace. There is no plan and no order. There is just disaster and social collapse. Those looking for reassurance should not listen to Bowie (please listen to something, anything, else). His world, from Space Oddity through to the background violence of The Next Day and Blackstar, was always drowned or destroyed or incinerated: “This ain’t rock’n’roll, this is genocide” as he exclaims at the beginning of Diamond Dogs. Bowie prefigured Trumpworld in countless ways. Just listen to Under the God on the much-maligned Tin Machine in 1989: “Washington heads in …
