NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs Get Into Micro-comedy, Really

The vertical video gold rush has pulled in one of the biggest players in traditional media — the NFL. Or at least, one of its marquee franchises. The Kansas City Chiefs are diving into the micro-series realm with a comedy called El Offseason. The Spanish-language show will follow the misadventures of four (fictional) team employees whose offseason months spiral into chaos. The team says the nine-episode series will combine elements of sketch comedy with the wild plot twists of a telenovela. El Offseason is set to premiere June 12 in the United States, Mexico and Spain. As part of the NFL’s global markets program, the Chiefs have marketing rights in the latter two countries (along with several other franchises), hence the Spanish-language effort. A trailer for the series is below. “This is exactly the kind of storytelling opportunity the offseason creates,” said Lauren Denowitz, vp brand marketing and fan engagement for the team. “When the games stop, the connection matters even more. El Offseason lets us show up for our fans in a way that feels …

White House Comms Chief’s F-Bomb Attack On Former Trump Official Draws Backlash Online

Steven Cheung, White House communications director, during an announcement in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, DC, US, on Friday, Sept. 5, 2025.  Critics blasted White House communications director Steven Cheung over his latest profane social media post targeting a former top official in Donald Trump’s administration. On Saturday, Cheung lashed out at former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo after Pompeo questioned the terms of a reportedly imminent deal with Iran on X, arguing it was “not remotely America First.” Cheung fired back: “Mike Pompeo has no idea what the fuck he’s talking about. He should shut his stupid mouth and leave the real work to the professionals. He’s not read into anything that’s happening, so how would he know.” Mike Pompeo has no idea what the fuck he’s talking about. UK military chiefs asked to find £3.5bn in savings – and get ready for war | UK News

UK military chiefs asked to find £3.5bn in savings – and get ready for war | UK News

UK military chiefs have been asked to find £3.5bn in “efficiencies” and other savings this year, even as Sir Keir Starmer says he is readying his armed forces for war, sources have signalled. One source said the heads of the army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and other top brass were due to meet this week to discuss the funding pressures. A second source said the squeeze is because the current budget is insufficient simply to deliver the programme of record – let alone ambitions set out in a major review of defence that was published last June to rebuild and rearm in response to escalating threats. A third source said that the Ministry of Defence – like all government departments – has to operate within the agreed budget set out by the Treasury. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is enabling Trump’s immorality

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is enabling Trump’s immorality

In a demented alternate reality, a 100-foot-tall gold statue of Donald Trump stands on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., as a reminder that America has been Trumpified. Its plaque reads: “President Donald J. Trump, conqueror and destroyer of worlds.”  This reality is closer than most people imagine.  On Tuesday, the president threatened to destroy Iran, a country with a population of 93 million. His words: “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” Trump’s threats were born of frustration and rage. With 90 minutes left before his deadline expired, he announced a two-week ceasefire that appears to be hanging by a thread. Trump has dispatched Vice President JD Vance, along with Middle East envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to join high-stakes peace negotiations with Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan. The U.S., in partnership with Israel, has been winning the war tactically. But it is losing strategically. While history will render its verdict, Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s war of choice against Iran may have already qualified as what …

Inside the Pentagon, fears of a disrupted war effort after Army chief’s ouster

Inside the Pentagon, fears of a disrupted war effort after Army chief’s ouster

WASHINGTON — Merely two weeks had passed since the Iran war began when Gen. Randy George, the Army’s highest-ranking officer, began sounding an alarm. Touring a weapons depot in North Carolina, George warned lawmakers present that the conflict’s vast and ever-growing list of targets was straining U.S. capacity — “depleting our stockpiles faster than we can replace them,” as one congressman recalled. Since assuming Army leadership, George had made it his mission to strengthen the nation’s industrial base in anticipation of precisely this moment, when the United States would be engaged in a major war with a formidable adversary. On Thursday, in a brief phone call, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth fired George. No reason was given, a U.S. official familiar with the matter told The Times. The forced departure of George in the middle of a war created yet another blow to morale inside the Pentagon, where multiple officials expressed dismay over the state of the department’s leadership. Over the last year, Hegseth has fired five sitting members of the joint chiefs of staff, with only two …

Former UK Security Chief’s Brutal Verdict On Trump’s Iran Strategy: ‘He’s Floundering Around’

Former UK Security Chief’s Brutal Verdict On Trump’s Iran Strategy: ‘He’s Floundering Around’

President Donald Trump speaks with reporters before departing on Marine One at the White House last Friday. via Associated Press A UK military expert has said Donald Trump is “floundering around” in his attempts to end the war in Iran. Former national security adviser Lord Peter Ricketts said the US president “is making it up as he goes along” more than three weeks after the conflict began. His comments, on Radio 4′s Today programme, came as the countdown continues on Trump’s ultimatum for Iran to re-open the Strait of Hormuz or risk their power plants being “obliterated”. The president issued the warning as the vital waterway – which carried around one-fifth of the world’s oil supply – remains effectively closed to traffic because of the risk of Iranian attacks. However, Lord Ricketts said: “Iran is not going to capitulate to Donald Trump’s threat and ultimatum and so he is going to have a massive decision to take”. “Does he walk away from the ultimatum – he’s done that many times in the Ukraine and Gaza …

Trump reaction to ex-FBI chief’s death: ‘Debasement of public life’ in US, expert says

Trump reaction to ex-FBI chief’s death: ‘Debasement of public life’ in US, expert says

Donald Trump’s gloating reaction to the death of former FBI director Robert Mueller, who investigated the president’s ties to Russia during his 2016 campaign, reveals “everything you need to know about the debasement of public life in the United States,” said Reed Brody, a former New York assistant attorney general. Brody described Mueller as a model of institutional integrity and independence that now feels “increasingly distant,” noting that he was appointed under George W. Bush and reappointed by Barack Obama, and was “trusted across party lines.” He added that Mueller “embodied this idea that law enforcement doesn’t serve the president.” Keywords for this article Source link
