Urgent recall as kids item sold in Asda creates ‘high choking risk’ | UK | News

Asda has urged shoppers to return a children’s toy because it presents a choking hazard. The urgent recall applies to the Hapello Power Train, because it contains “easily-detachable small parts” that could be a danger to young children. The retailer found that, in some cases, an orange steam dome at the top of the train may easily detach. The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued the recall because this part poses a “choking risk to young children”, particularly to infants under 36 months, “who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths”. If you have purchased the Hapello Power Train, Asda has asked customers to bring it back to their nearest store to get a full refund. They do not need to present a receipt. Customers have also been advised to stop using the product immediately and to keep it out of the reach of young children. The grocer added: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer …

The British singer, 32, was performing Friday at Wembley Stadium when one of his signature moves — the “whale,” which involves spitting water high into the air— took an unusual turn. After he spat the water into the air during his song “As It Was,” Styles appeared to choke and fell to the ground coughing. Videos from the concert showed the “Watermelon Sugar” singer lying on his back on the ground as he continued to heave and cover his coughing with his fist. He rested his hands on his stomach as he appeared to attempt to catch his breath. Another angle showed one of the artist’s security personnel peering over the stage to check he was okay. Man admits abusing toddler by choking, dunking, smothering for months until passerby confronted him

Can choking during sex cause brain damage? Emerging evidence points to hidden neurological risks

Can choking during sex cause brain damage? Emerging evidence points to hidden neurological risks

“Choking” is a term commonly used to describe applying pressure to a partner’s neck during intimacy. In medical contexts, however, choking refers to an internal blockage of the airway, like swallowing a foreign object. The clinical term for applying external force to the neck is strangulation. Strangulation restricts the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain. Over the past decade, this practice has transitioned from niche circles into mainstream sexual encounters. Medical professionals are beginning to investigate the potential neurological consequences of this behavior. A growing body of scientific literature suggests that these encounters provide evidence of hidden physiological strain. Scientists are now asking if consensual neck compression could lead to lasting brain damage. To answer this, researchers are looking at everything from basic anatomy to advanced brain imaging. The Biology of Neck Compression To understand the risks, it helps to examine the anatomy of the neck. The neck contains the jugular veins, which carry oxygen-depleted blood away from the brain, and the carotid arteries, which supply the brain with fresh oxygen. It also …

My Near-Death Experience After Choking On Steak Changed Me

My Near-Death Experience After Choking On Steak Changed Me

It was one of those glorious late-summer evenings. The sun was setting, pouring golden light across the front yard as my husband, Rob, our 12-year-old son, and I arrived at my in-laws’ house for dinner. The smell greeted us before we even reached the door. My brother-in-law, David, was at the grill – he had ordered bougie steaks by mail and was tending to them as if they were newborn children. Inside, my mother-in-law pulled out her family photo albums. We sat side by side on the couch, flipping through yellowed pictures of her children when they were young. She stopped on Rob’s high school senior photo, smiling at his floppy hair and awkward grin. “You should keep one,” she said. I tucked it into my wallet. Courtesy of Kelsey Abernathy McLean “This is the high school photo of my husband, Rob, that my mother-in-law gave me the night that I choked,” the author writes. When dinner was ready, the table looked like something from a magazine – candles, wine, perfectly seared steaks. I was …

About 6,800 units of the Yetonamr Pull String Teething Toys, sold on Amazon by Longyanguiheng of China, have been recalled because they “violate the mandatory standard for toys,” the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reported Thursday.
