Cillian Murphy’s non-negotiable advice he gives his 18-year-old actor son

Cillian Murphy is a stalwart of the acting world, having established himself as a safe pair of hands thanks to standout performances in Oppenheimer, Peaky Blinders, 28 Years Later and Steve. It’s perhaps unsurprising, then, that one of his sons has followed in his footsteps. Cillian shares two sons with his wife, Yvonne McGuinness, including 18-year-old Aran, who has already appeared in TV projects such as Lola and Klara and the Sun. Cillian’s son Aran is following in his father’s footsteps Speaking to press, including HELLO!, at the Oscar Wilde Awards in 2024, Cillian said of his son: “I’m very, very proud of him, he’s a great, great actor.” While the 49-year-old tends to keep his private life out of the spotlight, he has opened up about the non-negotiable advice he has stuck to throughout his career – and what he now passes on to Aran as he navigates the industry. Rebecca Ferguson reveals why she studied Cillian Murphy’s sex scenes for Peaky Blinders film

Rebecca Ferguson reveals why she studied Cillian Murphy’s sex scenes for Peaky Blinders film

Rebecca Ferguson has spoken about her approach to her intimate scenes in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. The Swedish actress, known for her roles in the Dune and Mission: Impossible series, joins the franchise for the feature film outing, playing the mysterious Kaulo Chirklo, the identical twin sister of Tommy Shelby’s former lover, Zelda, with whom he sired his eldest son, Erasmus “Duke” Shelby (Barry Keoghan). The film sees Tommy (Cillian Murphy) and Kaulo get very up close and personal, but with a rather interesting twist – but we won’t spoil more here… Speaking about working with intimacy coordinators, Ferguson told Michael Hodges in the upcoming issue of Radio Times magazine: “I think it’s wonderful that we can have intimacy coordinators and sometimes they are needed, but for me, it’s very off-putting and it makes me feel very uncomfortable because I have enormous boundaries and I can verbalise them. “So we could sit down and say, what do you need to feel safe? What do I need to feel safe? And then she could step …

Peaky Blinders icon Cillian Murphy talks stopping generational trauma

Peaky Blinders icon Cillian Murphy talks stopping generational trauma

This article first appeared in Radio Times magazine. Tommy Shelby has been in our heads for 13 years, but even longer in Cillian Murphy’s. British TV viewers first encountered the Birmingham gangster in September 2013, when he rode a black stallion through the streets of 1919 Small Heath. For Murphy, presently sitting opposite me in a London hotel suite, the introduction came months before that, when he first opened Steven Knight’s script and realised Shelby was a part in a million. “I could tell that it was special,” says Murphy, a glossy amalgam of expensively barbered hair and radiant skin that belies his 49 years. “I read the opening sequence where he rides into Birmingham. That wordless, western style, it was instantly iconic, if that’s not an oxymoron. So bold and so confident. I knew I wanted to do it.” Murphy compares Peaky Blinders to a motorbike ride where, “Tommy Shelby is driving the motorbike and I’m in the sidecar going, ‘OK man, I trust you,’ and then he’s off. Very quickly I became the …

While the series concluded in 2022, Murphy is set to reprise his role in the forthcoming spin-off film, The Immortal Man, which will see Shelby drawn back from self-imposed exile amidst the turmoil of the Second World War. Speaking at a recent press conference, the 49-year-old actor expressed immense pride in the show’s enduring legacy. “I feel really, really proud of the work. It’s nuts that it’s been so long. Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man Is Cillian Murphy’s Epic Return As Tommy Shelby

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man Is Cillian Murphy’s Epic Return As Tommy Shelby

Tommy Shelby is finally back on our screens after four years away. The long-awaited Peaky Blinders film, The Immortal Man, is in select cinemas now (ahead of its arrival on Netflix on 20 March), and it ushers in a new chapter in the Shelby clan’s story. As a long-time fan of the show, I had been a little worried that a movie may not have the same magic as the show did. But boy, was I wrong. Steven Knight has created something incredibly special with this film. It’s everything that a fan of the show could want it to be, and even more. Personally, I’d give it five stars. After all, is there anything more iconic than seeing Tommy Shelby back in his baker boy cap? I think not. The Immortal Man marks a new era for the Peaky Blinders It all starts in Birmingham in 1940. The characters are in the midst of the Second World War, and the Peaky Blinders are working on one of their biggest plots yet, when chaos ensues. Barry …

The Irish actor, 49, had been at the centre of speculation around casting for the role, with Ralph Fiennes, who played the villain in the Harry Potter film adaptations, appearing to suggest that Murphy’s involvement was a done deal. In a viral TikTok clip shared by Let’s Talk Film back in January, Fiennes said: “I’m told [my shoes] are already filled, aren’t they? I think Cillian Murphy is very good. A very good choice.” However, in a new interview with The Times, Murphy denied that he was set to play the character. “I’m categorically not,” he said. “Can you make that the headline?” A number of actors have already been cast in the series, which is expected to premiere next year. …

Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy’s condition for Tommy Shelby return

Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy’s condition for Tommy Shelby return

It wasn’t an easy sell to get Cillian Murphy to don his cap again and take back up the mantel of Tommy Shelby, by the sounds of it. But if anyone can get it done, it’s creator Steven Knight. Murphy, who first embodied the character he’s become synonymous with in the BBC TV series back in 2013, was confirmed to be reprising the role last year, months before filming began on the long-rumoured movie continuation, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. “It was pretty much from like 2019-2020 we’ve been talking about this and going through different versions of the script and working it and reworking and revising it,” Murphy told Deadline recently, ahead of the film’s release. However, it took more than just an invitation for him to agree to come back: the Oscar-winner felt the movie needed to “justify its existence” after what he thought was a perfect ending to season 6. “For me personally, I really felt that the film needed to justify its existence because I love the ambiguity of the ending …
