When is Queen’s Club Championships 2026 tennis? Full schedule, dates and times

The Queen’s Club Championships mark the true start of the grass court season. The West Kensington event has served as a precursor to Wimbledon for years but stepped its game up last year by expanding to include a women’s tournament for the first time in more than half a century. 37-year-old Tatjana Maria returns to defend her title after a shock triumph last term, while there will be a new winner in the men’s singles as Carlos Alcaraz is absent due to injury. Plenty of British talent will be on show as well at the ATP/WTA 500 event, particularly in the doubles, where Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool enjoyed success in 2025. But when will the eyes of the tennis world be drawn to Queens Club? Radio Times brings you all the dates for the French Open 2026, including the full tournament schedule. When are the Queen’s Club Championships 2026? The Queen’s Club Championships begin with the women’s tournament, which starts on Monday 8 June and runs until the final on Sunday 14 June. The …

So long, for now, to the no-phones club that let us party like it was 1999

So long, for now, to the no-phones club that let us party like it was 1999

In the main room, which evokes the feel of a club scene from a 2000s movie with dance battles and Lindsay Lohan, the DJ booth is elevated and almost out of sight, encouraging dancers to face one another rather than whoever is playing. Then, at the hit of a spotlight, a surprise musical performance begins. From rappers and singers to DJs, the musical programme is diverse and well thought-out, with recent acts including Celeste, Fcukers, OK Williams and Lancey Foux. Source link

New Scientist Book Club: Read an extract from The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins

The double helix structure of DNA, the genetic code that makes up genes Shutterstock/Juan Gaertner Intelligent life on a planet comes of age when it first works out the reason for its own existence. If superior creatures from space ever visit earth, the first question they will ask, in order to assess the level of our civilization, is: ‘Have they discovered evolution yet?’ Living organisms had existed on earth, without ever knowing why, for over three thousand million years before the truth finally dawned on one of them. His name was Charles Darwin. To be fair, others had had inklings of the truth, but it was Darwin who first put together a coherent and tenable account of why we exist. Darwin made it possible for us to give a sensible answer to the curious child whose question heads this chapter. We no longer have to resort to superstition when faced with the deep problems: Is there a meaning to life? What are we for? What is man? After posing the last of these questions, the …

Norway joins France’s nuclear deterrence club – POLITICO

Norway joins France’s nuclear deterrence club – POLITICO

“Russia’s largest nuclear arsenal is located in the High North, just a few kilometers from Norway,” he said, adding that Norway would continue to primarily rely on NATO for its security. On March 2, the French president announced that Germany, Poland, Greece, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Sweden had agreed to discuss nuclear cooperation with Paris. That could include joint nuclear drills, information sharing and, ultimately, the potential temporary deployment of French nuclear-capable Rafale fighter jets in allied countries — a concept the French called “forward nuclear deterrence.” Since then, highly classified talks about exactly what the cooperation will entail have already begun with some nations, two officials told POLITICO. On Wednesday, Paris and Oslo also signed a wide-ranging bilateral defense and security deal — dubbed the Narvik agreement — that includes a mutual assistance clause, more dialogue between their armed forces and cooperation on air defense, space and Arctic security, Macron said. In the past few years, the French president has sought to increase his country’s defense ties with Nordic countries, including Denmark, Finland …

Timberland’s Beefed-Up Boat Shoes Go Beyond the Yacht Club

Timberland’s Beefed-Up Boat Shoes Go Beyond the Yacht Club

It’s probably not news to you that boat shoes have been enjoying a moment. Worried lacing up a pair will mark you as a sailor—or, worse yet, a finance guy en route to a Nantucket bachelor party? Don’t be: these Timberland boat shoes have weathered significantly worse than mere stolen valor accusations, and they happen to be the perfect gateway (or, uh, marina) to the genre. If that name doesn’t ring any bells, it might be because it’s new: for years, Timberland simply called silhouette the Three-Eye Lug Sole Shoe, until the brand wisely leaned into the rising nautical-style tide. Smart move. With its handsewn moc-toe upper and 360-eyelet lacing system, it looks every bit the classic boat shoe. Except, that is, for its beefy lug sole, a savvy addition that takes the silhouette from preppy to damn-near-punk in the time it takes for you to clock it. You can still rock a pair with chinos and a polo, but that telltale sole means they’ll take just as well to baggy jeans and a hoodie, …

SK Hynix Joins Trillion Dollar Club As Korean Stocks Echo Nasdaq’s 1999 Meltup

SK Hynix Joins Trillion Dollar Club As Korean Stocks Echo Nasdaq’s 1999 Meltup

The breathtaking rally in South Korean stocks hit a couple of key milestones overnight. The benchmark Kospi index at one point in the session was up 100% for 2026, rivaling the Nasdaq 100 Index’s 102% surge in 1999 – right before the bubble burst… Samsung (005930) was up 2.7% and SK Hynix (000660) soared 9.3% rallying to new record highs mainly on three things: 1) overnight backdrop of SOX +5.5% driven by MU +19% strength, 2) launch of leveraged ETF instruments including 14 products that track 2x the return, and 2 inverse products that track -2x the return of SEC(005930) and SK HYNIX(000660), and 3) reports of SEC’s union members voting in favor of a compensation deal and separately, that SK Hynix is making efforts to strengthen its long-term supply agreements via more favorable terms such as higher prepayment and ultra-long tenors of five years or more. Flow-wise, foreigners extended their net-selling streak in SK HYNIX to 14 consecutive days, selling -$156mn today, while they’ve also ended as marginal net sellers in SEC (-$54mn). Local …

De la Fuente says Spain come before club loyalty after first World Cup squad without Real Madrid players

De la Fuente says Spain come before club loyalty after first World Cup squad without Real Madrid players

MADRID, May 26 : Luis de la Fuente stressed that Spain’s badge outranks any club crest on Tuesday after naming a World Cup squad with a distinctly Barcelona hue and, for the first time, no Real Madrid player in sight. The European champions head into next month’s tournament among the favourites, with De la Fuente’s 26-man squad built around eight Barcelona players and none from the Spanish capital’s biggest club, bringing the fierce El Clasico rivalry into the national team’s debate. Defenders Dean Huijsen and Dani Carvajal were among the Real Madrid names to miss out on a team chasing Spain’s second World Cup title after their 2010 triumph in South Africa. De la Fuente dismissed the idea that the decision could cost him support among Real Madrid fans. “For me, the greatest team there is — the very greatest — is the Spanish national team,” De la Fuente said during a breakfast with media representatives organised by Spanish public broadcaster RTVE and news agency EFE. “I don’t look at where players come from or …

Tom Ryan Murder Mystery Treasure Hunters Club Getting TV Adaptation

Tom Ryan Murder Mystery Treasure Hunters Club Getting TV Adaptation

Popular YA novel writer Tom Ryan’s first adult murder mystery, The Treasure Hunters Club, has been optioned by indie producer Skywild Pictures for a TV adaptation. The Simon and Schuster book title features three strangers converging on the remote seaside town of Maple Bay to uncover lost pirate treasure, only for fresh bodies to pile up as they collide with one another and a local mysterious legend. “The Treasure Hunters Club stood out immediately for the originality of its premise and rich mystery engine. It’s a smart, character-driven story with real momentum and comes with the built-in fan base of best-selling author Tom Ryan. This is a story that feels inherently episodic, and we see a clear path to bringing that to screen with the right creative team,” Natalie Urquhart, director of scripted at Skywild Pictures, said in a statement. The Toronto-based production banner has also optioned two other novels for its TV series development slate: the thriller Our Little Secret by Edward Kay and Mikhael Klassen-Kay, and The Affinities by Hugo Award–winning author Robert Charles Wilson. The dealmaking comes as Skywild looks to …

Woman Working Construction Is Fighting The Blue-Collar Boys Club Environment

Woman Working Construction Is Fighting The Blue-Collar Boys Club Environment

There are still a lot of unfair stereotypes about women in the workforce, but it’s simply a fact that there are many more men than women working in blue-collar jobs. Seeing a woman working in a field like construction isn’t an everyday occurrence. But, for Abbi Donovan, it’s just a regular day on the job. The 27-year-old transitioned into working in a painting and decorating union several years ago, and is determined to fight the inherent sexism in the industry and show other women that there’s a place for them there too. Donovan admitted her job isn’t perfect, but she’s carved out a place for herself. For those interested in her unique role as a woman in a blue-collar job, she regularly posts TikToks with behind-the-scenes looks at her work. In one video, she said she chose to pursue a job in construction because of how bad the job market had gotten, but she was surprised to find a good salary and excellent benefits. Another video, posted in honor of Women in Apprenticeship Day, featured …

Cannes 2026’s Big Hit is Jordan Firstman’s Internet-Brained, Big-Hearted ‘Club Kid’

Cannes 2026’s Big Hit is Jordan Firstman’s Internet-Brained, Big-Hearted ‘Club Kid’

It’s been a fairly muted Cannes Film Festival this year. The closest thing to a starry, major-studio event was a 25th anniversary screening of The Fast and the Furious attended by Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez. There’s less than a week left to go, and so far the most-anticipated movies in the competition slate, from James Gray’s Russian mob drama Paper Tiger (reuniting Marriage Story alumni Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson) to Paweł Pawlikowski’s Sandra Hüller-starring Fatherland and Asghar Farhadi’s French debut Parallel Tales, have not been met with the enthusiastic reception we’ve come to expect from the launchpad for the biggest arthouse films of the year. Worst of all, the standing ovations are sometimes clocking in at a measly three minutes, which is the Cannes equivalent of being pelted with tomatoes. You have to venture outside of the heavy hitters for the true gems of the festival. The highlight? Jordan Firstman’s directorial debut Club Kid, which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section on Friday and was just nabbed by A24 for an eye-watering $17 …
