Man who used camera hidden in air freshener to film female colleagues in toilet gets jail

He did not install the second camera because there was no smoke detector above the cubicle. The camera in the air freshener was set to begin recording when it detected motion. Iskandar intended to return some days later to retrieve the memory card. On Oct 22, 2025, two women separately entered the cubicle and used the toilet. The hidden camera recorded videos of both women urinating, capturing close-up images of their private parts. One woman saw the air freshener but thought nothing of it. The device was discovered later that afternoon when the cleaner opened the air freshener to check whether it was empty. She found a camera concealed inside and alerted colleagues. Several employees examined the device and realised it was a hidden camera. After failing to access the memory card, they left both items on a table while deciding what to do next. Later, Iskandar spotted the air freshener camera and memory card on the table and secretly removed the memory card. When employees later realised it was missing, the building manager called …

Ex-BBC producer blamed colleagues after being found with thousands of child abuse images

Ex-BBC producer blamed colleagues after being found with thousands of child abuse images

An ex-BBC Wales producer attempted to blame colleagues at the corporation after he was found in possession of thousands of indecent images of young children. He made searches for “jailbait” with the images found on a laptop, hard drive, and two iPads. Dylan Dawes, 50, made radio shows for stars including comedian Rhod Gilbert and Final Score host Jason Mohammad at the time of his crimes while working from BBC HQ in Llandaff, Cardiff. He downloaded more than 6,000 indecent images of children over a lengthy period. During a trial at Cardiff Crown Court the defendant claimed he had “no idea” how the images had got onto his devices and said he had often left them in “open-plan” BBC offices where colleagues could have used them. Make sure you never miss Wales’ biggest updates by getting our daily newsletter. Dawes said he worked for BBC Radio Wales as a producer before moving into a “content producing” role for the broadcaster’s website. Asked who he had produced shows for Dawes said: “Jason Mohammad, Jamie Owen, Rhod …

What happens when scientists trust AI more than colleagues?

What happens when scientists trust AI more than colleagues?

Artificial intelligence has crossed a threshold in the modern workplace. It is being used for everything from helping employees manage schedules to supporting financial forecasts. A similar shift is now unfolding inside research laboratories. There is currently a boom in national initiatives to accelerate the integration of AI into science. These include the US Genesis Mission and South Korea’s AI Co-Scientist Challenge. But despite clear benefits, we believe these institutional drives are neglecting important issues that carry immense risks for scientific research. Today, more than half of researchers use AI for work tasks including reviews of academic journals and designing experiments. AlphaFold is an AI tool developed to predict the structures of proteins for scientific research. Working out protein structures was incredibly time-consuming before its release – taking years in some cases. The same tasks now take hours. AlphaFold was acknowledged by the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. AI tools for use in medicine now assist with everything from the interpretation of results from X-rays and MRIs to supporting doctors’ decisions on the diagnosis and …

Hedge fund manager ‘bullied colleagues not to put in measures to protect women’, tribunal hears | UK News

Former hedge fund manager Crispin Odey “bullied” colleagues not to introduce measures at his firm to protect women, a tribunal heard. The hearing on Thursday also heard accusations that the 67-year-old threatened to close the company, Odey Asset Management (OAM), in order to put pressure on its governing body. Mr Odey is taking legal action against the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) after it fined him £1.8m and banned him from the UK finance industry last year over how he handled disciplinary processes into his alleged sexual misconduct at OAM. FCA lawyers told the Upper Tribunal in London that a report published by law firm Simmons & Simmons in January 2021 found at least 46 historical allegations of inappropriate conduct by Mr Odey towards female employees between 2003 and 2020. He was then alleged to have breached the terms of a final written warning by sexually harassing a temporary receptionist in 2021. Image: Mr Odey arriving at the tribunal in London earlier this week. A Top Democrat Is Urging Colleagues to Support Trump’s Spy Machine

A Top Democrat Is Urging Colleagues to Support Trump’s Spy Machine

United States congressman Jim Himes, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, is privately lobbying colleagues to preserve the FBI’s power to conduct warrantless searches of Americans’ communications, WIRED has learned, arguing that he has seen no evidence that the Trump administration is abusing its authority. In a letter obtained by WIRED, Himes urges fellow Democrats to support the White House’s request to renew a controversial surveillance program that intercepts the electronic data of foreigners abroad. While targeted at foreigners, the program—authorized under Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act—also sweeps in vast quantities of private messages belonging to US citizens. Himes’ pitch relies on the “56 reforms” passed by Congress in 2024, which codified the FBI’s own internal protocols as a substitute for constitutional warrants. In the letter, Himes claims these changes are “working as intended” to prevent domestic misuse, citing a compliance rate “exceeding 99 percent” over the past two years. The structural foundations of that defense, however, have been fundamentally altered by recent changes within the FBI. Himes’ “99 percent” …

Office hookworms: how to deal with colleagues who steal all the credit | Work & careers

Office hookworms: how to deal with colleagues who steal all the credit | Work & careers

Name: Office hookworms. Age: A recent term for a very old complaint. Appearance: By the time they’ve shown themselves, it may be too late. You don’t have to tell me; I’ve encountered hookworms before. In the workplace? No, in south-east Asia. In that case you’re probably referring to one of two main species of roundworm belonging to the genera Ancylostoma and Necator, but their office-based counterparts have a similar modus operandi. What, entering through the skin as larvae and travelling along the host’s circulatory system to the stomach via the lungs, before maturing into adult worms in the intestines? More like embarking on a secret self-promotional campaign by taking credit for the work of others. OK. It’s not quite the same thing, is it? There’s more: office hookworms also deploy streams of passive-aggressive commentary in a bid to undermine their colleagues. That’s still a long way from laying 30,000 eggs a day in someone’s digestive tract. The point is, they’re behaving in an analogous fashion to the intestine-based parasite, but at work. Says who? Susie …

Employee Creates Graveyard To Remember All Of Her Favorite Co-Workers Who Left The Job

Employee Creates Graveyard To Remember All Of Her Favorite Co-Workers Who Left The Job

A woman named Alexia shared the humorous and poignant remembrance she created in honor of her co-worker friends who no longer worked with her. She created a “graveyard” by printing out pictures of resigned co-workers and taping them to her desktop monitor. While her social media post was meant to be all in good fun, the truth is that co-workers impact our lives. These are people you spend a significant amount of your life with, and when they are no longer a part of your daily routine, that creates loss. Work friends make the day more manageable. They give you an outlet for frustration. They offer support and camaraderie and even a little spark of joy in often otherwise monotonous days. An employee created a ‘graveyard’ to remember her favorite co-workers who left the job. AnnaStills | Shutterstock Alexia captioned her Instagram post simply “Why do my favs keep leaving?!” The four images of smiling faces were followed by a gravestone reading R.I.P. She didn’t have their pictures on top of her desk, but rather …

‘Anyone who says the UN is dead should spend some time with my colleagues in Sudan or DRC’

‘Anyone who says the UN is dead should spend some time with my colleagues in Sudan or DRC’

The Al-Qadisiyah refugee camp in Khan Yunis, Gaza, February 13, 2026. ABDELRAHMAN RASHAD FOR LE MONDE Tom Fletcher is the United Nations under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs (OCHA). During a visit to Paris, the British diplomat, appointed to the role in 2024, responded to the first meeting of Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, held Thursday, February 19, in Washington. The official mission of the Board of Peace, created by the US president, is to rebuild Gaza. But the board seems, at least in Trump’s mind, to have a broader mandate. Is it intended to compete with the UN? I was in Davos [at the World Economic Forum held from January 19 to 23] a couple of weeks ago when they were convening it, and I talked a lot to the White House about the Board of Peace. In every conversation, they started by reassuring me that this is not an alternative to the UN, it’s not a threat to the UN. The UN is 193 countries, it has its charter, it’s on a completely different scale. …

“We’re Wrapping You In Love.” How Savannah Guthrie’s TODAY Colleagues Are Reporting Her Awful News

“We need you,” she wrote, urging viewers to pray for her mother. “Bring her home.” Kotb, who co-hosted with Savannah from 2018 until 2025, shared three posts to her own account Monday, one with police contact info and “pls help,” a photo of Savannah and Nancy with prayer hands emojis, and another image simply reading, “Hope.” TODAY led each hour of the show Tuesday with a news snippet about Nancy, with the hosts sharing emotional pleas for anyone with any information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Hager called Nancy “a woman who is deeply loved by everyone here,” while Jones revealed that she had been having trouble sleeping due to worry over her colleague. “Behind the scenes, we’re all rattled, we’re all shaking,” she said. “We’re family around here.” “We just are asking you all to pray for her, but please, if you know anything, contact the Pima County Sheriff with any tips,” Hager added. “Nothing is too small.” “We’re wrapping you in love for sure, but we are also giving you collective …
