Colman Domingo on ‘Euphoria’ Return and What It Means for the Finale

Colman Domingo on ‘Euphoria’ Return and What It Means for the Finale

[This story contains spoilers from Euphoria season 3, episode 7.] Colman Domingo had only briefly appeared in Euphoria’s long-awaited third season over its first six episodes, but on Sunday night, the actor’s Emmy-winning portrayal of Ali, the recovering addict who’s acted as sponsor and mentor to Rue (Zendaya) since season one, took center stage like never before. The season’s penultimate episode, “Rain or Shine,” opened with a moving glimpse into Ali’s past, showing viewers, for the first time, the darker side he’s often alluded to. He’s shown getting high and cheating on his wife with a fellow junkie (played by Natasha Lyonne), then bringing an abusive temper back home.  This leads into a key moment between Ali and Rue in the present, as he learns of her precarious situation trying to navigate her tenuous relationships with two rival drug gangs — and the DEA as an informant. She details her elaborate, life-or-death plan to Ali to escape the situation, which he listens in on nervously. Given the new context we get about the man, when …

Colman Domingo Is Suddenly Everywhere, From Euphoria to Disclosure Day

Colman Domingo Is Suddenly Everywhere, From Euphoria to Disclosure Day

After the 2024 Golden Globes, Glen Powell found himself on a plane that also happened to be transporting an entire girls soccer team. After blowing through what he estimated to be 30 selfies over the course of a 15-minute boarding process, Powell lowered his baseball cap over his eyes and attempted to decompress. A few seconds later, two hands came out of nowhere and shook him.  “I’m like, ‘What is happening?’ ” he remembers. “I look up and I was two inches away from his face, and he goes, ‘You sexy son of a bitch!’ ” This is how Powell first met Colman Domingo.  Jacquemus suit, shirt, tie; Boucheron jewelry; Omega watch. Photographed by Emman Montalvan The introduction was not unwarranted — they had just been cast to star alongside each other in the remake of The Running Man. Domingo asked Powell to have dinner together that evening, or at least the best approximation of a dinner that can be offered at 30,000 feet. Crowded in the galley with the flight attendants, they ate airline …

Will There Be a Michael Jackson Movie Sequel?

Will There Be a Michael Jackson Movie Sequel?

After the audience at this week’s Michael premiere was treated to over two hours’ worth of hits, a title card came across the screen. In shimmery gold lettering, it read: “His Story Continues.” For many of the stakeholders behind the Michael Jackson biopic, or anyone who has read the hundreds of headlines Michael and its unexpectedly protracted production generated over the past year, the proclamation could be read as either a defiant declaration or an open-ended question about the status of a Michael: Part 2. The biopic was never intended to be a two-parter, but for the last year, under a messy cloud of reshoots and pushed release dates, the idea of splitting the film took form. The title card was a relatively last-minute addition, according to a knowledgeable insider, who says it was only put in about a month ago, when the filmmakers and the studios behind Michael began to realize how successful the movie could become. Clearly, studios Lionsgate and Universal, the Jackson Estate, and filmmakers including producer Graham King and director Antoine …

Trump Calls Tiger Woods From Rehab, Melania Explains Epstein Statement

Trump Calls Tiger Woods From Rehab, Melania Explains Epstein Statement

Saturday Night Live wasted no time parodying President Donald Trump’s polarizing Easter social media post about the Iran war. The cold open kicked off with James Austin Johnson’s Trump discussing the wording of the post with Ashley Padilla’s Karoline Leavitt. “Start with, ‘Open the f-ing Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in hell.’ And then at the end, maybe throw in, ‘Praise be to Allah,’” Johnson’s Trump said, which prompted Padilla’s Leavitt to reply, “You think I should type, ‘Praise be to Allah,’ and that’s from you, the President of the United States?” “Yes, yes, Allah, you say Allah. It’s a sarcastic attack on the world’s largest religion,” he added. “They famously have a great sense of humor about that kind of stuff.” “As your press secretary, this puts me in a tough position, sir,” Padilla’s Leavitt responded. “Oh, don’t worry about that, Karoline. Like I said to Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem right before I fired them, you’re doing a terrific,” he added. Trump went on to “make some urgent phone calls” …

Sydney Sweeney “Could Never Play Me,” Says Kim Novak

Sydney Sweeney “Could Never Play Me,” Says Kim Novak

“I think her story is still very relevant today in that she dealt with Hollywood and scrutiny with her relationships and her own private life and the control of her image,” Sweeney said. “And I think that for me, I relate to it in a lot of different ways.” Novak had previously expressed reservations about the plan to bring her short-lived relationship with Davis, who died in 1990, to the big screen. “I don’t think the relationship was scandalous,” she told the Guardian last year. “He’s somebody I really cared about. We had so much in common, including that need to be accepted for who we are and what we do, rather than how we look. But I’m concerned they’re going to make it all sexual reasons.” Novak expressed those concerns again when she spoke with the Times, saying “There’s no way it wouldn’t be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time. She was totally wrong to play me.” Sydney Sweeney and Colman Domingo at the 2024 Met Gala Cindy Ord/MG24/Getty …

Kim Novak Slams Sydney Sweeney Casting in ‘Scandalous!’ Movie

Kim Novak Slams Sydney Sweeney Casting in ‘Scandalous!’ Movie

Kim Novak is voicing her concerns about Scandalous! In a recent interview with The Times of London, Novak slammed Sydney Sweeney‘s casting as her in the upcoming film, following the Vertigo actress’ relationship with Sammy Davis Jr. in the 1950s. Colman Domingo is set to direct, marking his directorial debut. David Jonsson will portray Davis. “I would never have approved,” Novak said of Sweeney portraying her, adding that the Euphoria actress “sticks out so much above the waist.” The publication noted that Novak’s criticism stems from her concern that the film will focus on the sexual side of their relationship rather than the fact that they had “so much in common.” “There’s no way it wouldn’t be a sexual relationship because Sydney Sweeney looks sexy all the time,” Novak continued. “She was totally wrong to play me.” Reps for Sweeney did not respond to The Hollywood Reporter’s request for comment at the time of publication. Last year, Sweeney spoke with THR’s executive editor of awards, Scott Feinberg, on his Awards Chatter podcast about bringing Domingo …

Colman Domingo Hopes That Paris Jackson Eventually Loves ‘Michael’

Colman Domingo Hopes That Paris Jackson Eventually Loves ‘Michael’

Colman Domingo addressed concerns about the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael after Paris Jackson spoke out against the project last year.  The Euphoria actor, who plays Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson, told WSJ Magazine in an interview published on Tuesday that he hopes Paris “eventually loves the tribute that we made about her father.”  Paris critiqued Domingo and the Antoine Fuqua-directed film in September 2025 after Domingo told People that Paris and her brother, Prince Jackson, were “very much in support” of Michael.   “[Colman Domingo], don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had zero percent involvement in lol that is so weird,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest/didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and god speed.” Domingo told WSJ that his comments to People were “conflated” and “taken out of …

Michael Jackson Biopic Director Antoine Fuqua on “Spiritual Journey”

Michael Jackson Biopic Director Antoine Fuqua on “Spiritual Journey”

Filmmaker Antoine Fuqua is sharing his perspective about Lionsgate‘s forthcoming Michael Jackson biopic. Michael is set to hit theaters and Imax on April 24 after its release was delayed several times, most recently having been dated for the fall of 2025. Marking his feature debut is Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the lead role as the pop music icon. Lionsgate is distributing the movie domestically, while Universal handles the global launch. “It’s a very spiritual journey, making a movie about someone like Michael,” Fuqua says in a video that Lionsgate released Monday. “Michael was a big influence on my career as a director, seeing how he refused to get put in a box as just a Black artist only.” Fuqua’s movie debuted its latest trailer earlier this month. Michael co-stars Colman Domingo as the singer’s father, Joe Jackson, and Nia Long as his mother, Katherine. Rounding out the cast are Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, Kat Graham, Larenz Tate and Derek Luke. Graham King, John Branca and John McClain produce the film that has a script from John Logan. “Michael’s whole …
