Colman Domingo on ‘Euphoria’ Return and What It Means for the Finale

Colman Domingo on ‘Euphoria’ Return and What It Means for the Finale

[This story contains spoilers from Euphoria season 3, episode 7.] Colman Domingo had only briefly appeared in Euphoria’s long-awaited third season over its first six episodes, but on Sunday night, the actor’s Emmy-winning portrayal of Ali, the recovering addict who’s acted as sponsor and mentor to Rue (Zendaya) since season one, took center stage like never before. The season’s penultimate episode, “Rain or Shine,” opened with a moving glimpse into Ali’s past, showing viewers, for the first time, the darker side he’s often alluded to. He’s shown getting high and cheating on his wife with a fellow junkie (played by Natasha Lyonne), then bringing an abusive temper back home.  This leads into a key moment between Ali and Rue in the present, as he learns of her precarious situation trying to navigate her tenuous relationships with two rival drug gangs — and the DEA as an informant. She details her elaborate, life-or-death plan to Ali to escape the situation, which he listens in on nervously. Given the new context we get about the man, when …

Colman Domingo Is Suddenly Everywhere, From Euphoria to Disclosure Day

After the 2024 Golden Globes, Glen Powell found himself on a plane that also happened to be transporting an entire girls soccer team. After blowing through what he estimated to be 30 selfies over the course of a 15-minute boarding process, Powell lowered his baseball cap over his eyes and attempted to decompress. A few seconds later, two hands came out of nowhere and shook him.  “I’m like, ‘What is happening?’ ” he remembers. “I look up and I was two inches away from his face, and he goes, ‘You sexy son of a bitch!’ ” This is how Powell first met Colman Domingo.  Jacquemus suit, shirt, tie; Boucheron jewelry; Omega watch. Photographed by Emman Montalvan The introduction was not unwarranted — they had just been cast to star alongside each other in the remake of The Running Man. Domingo asked Powell to have dinner together that evening, or at least the best approximation of a dinner that can be offered at 30,000 feet. Crowded in the galley with the flight attendants, they ate airline …

The Sing, Sing actor plays Jackson family patriarch Joe in the new movie, which is finally arriving in cinemas this weekend after years of behind-the-scenes drama. The film was initially due to address the first child abuse allegations against Michael, which emerged when 13-year-old Jordan Chandler’s family spoke out in 1993. The case was eventually settled out of court for an undisclosed sum which is now believed to have been as high as $30 million. Last-minute changes saw these scenes cut and the film’s ending hastily reshot after lawyers realised spotlighting the claims breached the settlement agreement. During an appearance on US talkshow Today, Domingo was asked what he would say to people …

Colman Domingo Hopes That Paris Jackson Eventually Loves ‘Michael’

Colman Domingo Hopes That Paris Jackson Eventually Loves ‘Michael’

Colman Domingo addressed concerns about the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic Michael after Paris Jackson spoke out against the project last year.  The Euphoria actor, who plays Jackson family patriarch Joe Jackson, told WSJ Magazine in an interview published on Tuesday that he hopes Paris “eventually loves the tribute that we made about her father.”  Paris critiqued Domingo and the Antoine Fuqua-directed film in September 2025 after Domingo told People that Paris and her brother, Prince Jackson, were “very much in support” of Michael.   “[Colman Domingo], don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had zero percent involvement in lol that is so weird,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest/didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and god speed.” Domingo told WSJ that his comments to People were “conflated” and “taken out of …

Colman Domingo Wore the Black-Tie Shoes You’re About to See Everywhere

Colman Domingo Wore the Black-Tie Shoes You’re About to See Everywhere

When it comes to formalwear, nailing the shoe choice is always a challenge. A brown lace-up or a boat shoe may tank your nice blue suit; a two-toned Oxford may read too twee if you’re trying to look suave. After a banner year for the loafer, your pennies might be looking a tad too busted to pair with a bowtie. But there’s a fun new-ish silhouette in the mix—the black-tie opera pump—that’s really been sticking the landing as of late. Colman Domingo stepped out in the opera pump—the dressier brother of the men’s ballet flat (don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it)—this week when he attended the New York Theatre Workshop Gala, an undeniably dressy affair. As an honoree that evening, Domingo arrived in an appropriately dandy-ish outfit: ballooned pleated trousers, a long tuxedo jacket, and shiny Valentino opera pumps. He wore them with white socks, which made the overall look of the outfit mirror that of a cartoonish feline in a tuxedo conducting a jazz orchestra. (Complimentary!) NEW YORK, NEW YORK – MARCH 02: …

John Lithgow on Queer Family Film ‘Jimpa,’ Olivia Colman: Rotterdam

John Lithgow on Queer Family Film ‘Jimpa,’ Olivia Colman: Rotterdam

John Lithgow, Olivia Colman and Aud Mason-Hyde, the daughter of the director Sophie Hyde (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande; 52 Tuesdays; Animals) star in the new feature Jimpa. The drama about queerness, parenthood and imperfect intergenerational relationships celebrated its Dutch premiere during the 55th edition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) on Sunday. The movie tells the story of Lithgow’s charming contrarian character Jim, who calls himself “Jimpa” to escape the word “grandpa.” Jim, a character inspired by Hyde’s gay activist father, left his family “to pursue a free, gay life in Amsterdam,” reads a synopsis. The film sees Jim’s daughter Hannah (Colman), her non-binary teenager Frances (Mason-Hyde) and her husband (Daniel Henshall) pay Jimpa a visit. Jimpa encourages Frances to enjoy queer Amsterdam, where she meets people portrayed by the likes of Romana Vrede, Hans Kesting and Zoë Love Smith. After Sunday’s Rotterdam screening, Lithgow and Dutch cast members discussed the film in a session entitled “Big Talk: A Queer Family Affair,” moderated by Dutch actress Hanna van Vliet, who highlighted early on that queer rights …

Olivia Colman & Alexander Skarsgard in Quirky Romance

Olivia Colman & Alexander Skarsgard in Quirky Romance

A strange person comes to (an also strange) town and teaches the set-in-their-ways locals how to live and love in the new fairytale film Chocolat. Well, no, it’s called Wicker, but Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer’s film does bear a faint resemblance to that Lasse Hallström confection of a past movie era, as it does to plenty of other films about a fish-out-of-water charmingly affecting their adopted community. Which isn’t to ding Wicker; while there is plenty of originality to be found in this spritely fable, it’s also nice to see something old-fashioned at a festival so commonly associated with envelope-pushing modernity.  That said, Wicker might have been something of a scandal back in the days of Chocolat, what with its frequent, bawdy talk of sex, of body parts and fluids and fetishes. The film, based on the short story “The Wicker Husband” by Ursula Wills, is decidedly for grown-ups, despite its fanciful whimsy, a cuteness that risks becoming cloying but never quite does. The mundane disappointments and insecurities of adult life are chief …

Colman Domingo Didn’t Want to “Over-Stunt” at the 2026 Golden Globes

Colman Domingo Didn’t Want to “Over-Stunt” at the 2026 Golden Globes

Although he was intentionally going for a more muted look, Domingo added a bit of razzle-dazzle by pairing his impeccably tailored Valentino suit with a little sparkle. “It’s dripping in Boucheron jewelry,” the actor purred. Domingo’s Boucheron brooches will be featured in the brand’s upcoming Histoire de Style high-jewelry collection, which will officially be unveiled on January 26, 2026, during Couture Week in Paris. “It’s really beautiful. It’s all these diamonds that are cascading like an ivy leaf from my lapel all the way over my shoulder.” Domingo’s Boucheron rings and broochesRaul Romo for Boucheron Days before the Golden Globes, Boucheron announced that Domingo had joined the French jewelry house as the newest “Friend of the Maison,” making him the first American to hold that title. “Maybe I’m limiting myself by saying [that] because I’m a 56-year-old African American man, I think that it’s extraordinary,” he said. “I think things like this are usually reserved for younger people.” Domingo feels aligned with Boucheron in every way: “I love their history, their storied history when it …
