WWDC Will Be Tim Cook’s Swan Song. I Expect Something Siri-ous

WWDC Will Be Tim Cook’s Swan Song. I Expect Something Siri-ous

“I love Apple, and I consider it the privilege of a lifetime to have worked here for almost 14 years, and I’m very excited about this new role.” That’s how Tim Cook opened the iPhone 4S event in October 2011, his first product launch as Apple’s CEO. Fifteen years later, we’re on the precipice of another landmark Apple event for the chief of one of the world’s most iconic and valuable companies. This Worldwide Developers Conference will be Cook’s last before he hands over the reins to incoming CEO John Ternus in September, likely just ahead of that month’s iPhone event.  There’s not really a leadership change playbook at the company, as Cook took over from Steve Jobs as his struggle with pancreatic cancer took a turn for the worse. That makes this moment uncharted territory. WWDC, Apple’s annual software developer conference, has hosted many exciting product launches across the years, from the first iOS to Apple Silicon to Apple Intelligence. It’s a moment of hellos, rather than goodbyes — but this one will be …

Tim Cook’s Apple CEO era is defined by 5 achievements

Tim Cook’s Apple CEO era is defined by 5 achievements

Few CEOs ever arrived in the job with as tough an act to follow as Tim Cook did in 2011, replacing the late great Steve Jobs in his fast-declining days. Fewer still rise to the occasion — and get to leave so extraordinary a legacy to the next guy. Apple’s head honcho, age 65, announced Monday that he’ll be stepping back come September. Cook will step into an emeritus role as Executive Chairman, while John Ternus takes the reins as CEO. And out of all the major technological, financial, and logistical achievements of the past 14 years — which we’ve listed below — some business experts believe this in itself may be the greatest. 1. Apple’s second successful succession “Cook’s legacy will extend beyond any products or shareholder value he created,” Laurie Barkman, adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business, tells Mashable. “Two successful transitions at the highest level do not happen by chance. They reflect a process embedded in the company’s operating model.” Given how often ego-driven CEOs make …

Tim Cook’s Legacy Is Turning Apple Into a Subscription

Tim Cook’s Legacy Is Turning Apple Into a Subscription

Tim Cook’s tenure as CEO at Apple, which is coming to a close September 1, will likely be defined by operational efficiency and financial growth, ushering Apple into its trillion-dollar era. But his most significant achievement might be in doubling down on Apple’s services business, which includes iCloud, the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV+, News+, and more. It’s the subscription layer on top of iOS, and almost all of the services apps are tightly integrated with Messages, the glue that keeps people stuck to their iPhones. During Apple’s most recent earnings report, for the quarter ending December 2025, its services business reached an all time revenue record of $30 billion. This was a 14 percent jump from the same quarter the year prior; services was also a bigger money-making business than Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, Home, and other accessories combined. For the entirety of fiscal year 2025, Apple services generated more than $109 billion for Apple, again, up 14 percent from 2024. When Cook first took over as CEO in 2011, “services” weren’t even …

Tim Cook announced he was stepping back as the CEO of Apple after 15 years to make way for 50-year-old John Ternus, who will begin his new role in September. This comes after Tim took the company from a flailing business to a global powerhouse when he joined Apple back in 1998 as the worldwide operations guru.  “It has been the greatest privilege of my life to be the CEO of Apple and to have been trusted to lead such an extraordinary company,” the 65-year-old said in a statement.  “I love Apple with all of my being, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to work with a team of such ingenious, innovative, creative, and deeply caring people who have been unwavering in their dedication to enriching the lives of our customers and creating the best products and services in the world.” © Getty Images for AppleTim will step down as CEO of Apple in September Prior to his run at Apple, Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University and an MBA from Duke University. …

Unity Says It Has a New Product That Cooks Up Entire Games Using AI

Source: Getty Images Attention, gamers: if you thought new titles on top of the endless cavalcade of sequels and remakes were derivative now, wait till you hear about what the game engine maker Unity has got in store. During a recent earnings call, the company’s CEO Matthew Bromberg teased a new version of its AI tool that he claims, while somehow maintaining a straight face, will eliminate the need for coding in game development. Now, any schmuck can prompt their way to being the next Hideo Kojima or Sam Lake. In theory, anyway. “At the Game Developer Conference in March, we’ll be unveiling a beta of the new upgraded Unity AI, which will enable developers to prompt full casual games into existence with natural language only, native to our platform — so it’s simple to move from prototype to finished product,” Bromberg said, as quoted by Game Developer.  “This assistant will be powered by our unique understanding of the project context and our runtime, while leveraging the best frontier …

Here Are Tim Cook’s Full Remarks About Apple’s 50th Anniversary Plans

In a recent all-hands meeting, Apple CEO Tim Cook told employees to “stay tuned” about the company’s plans for its upcoming 50th anniversary. Apple was founded on April 1, 1976, so the company will turn 50 in a few more months. Following a snippet last week, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman has since shared Cook’s full remarks: I’ve been unusually reflective lately about Apple because we have been working on what do we do to mark this moment — 50 years. It’s an extraordinary accomplishment. We’ve been going back through old archives, old photographs. We’ve been going back through the products, the services, the people, and I am struck by how much Apple has changed things, how much Apple has changed the world, how much Apple has given to the world. Are we going to celebrate it? You better believe it. We’re not ready to say exactly how yet, so stay tuned. Yes. We’re not a culture that looks back. So the group of people working on this have had to kind of build a different muscle …

How Kendrick Lamar Producer Mustard Cooks Up Hits TV Off, Not Like Us

How Kendrick Lamar Producer Mustard Cooks Up Hits TV Off, Not Like Us

A year ago, Mustard stood at the epicenter of a pop culture maelstrom. The producer, 33, backed Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, where his irresistible beats — particularly on “Not Like Us,” Lamar’s anti-Drake diss track megahit (to the tune of 1.8 billion Spotify streams) — became the head-bobbing soundtrack for the entire planet. The lowkey DJ with the bright yellow nickname is still riding the wave. Mustard added another Grammy to his collection on Sunday, his sixth, winning best rap song for “TV Off,” another infectious Lamar collaboration. He toasted the win on Grammy weekend with Patrón, one of several brands that have hopped on the Mustard bandwagon. (Another, not surprisingly, is Heinz Mustard). Mustard feted the tequila brand by creating an entire song out of the sound of a bottle uncorking. But The Hollywood Reporter managed to pull him away from the Grammy-week chaos long to enough to talk about where his name and tag came from, how he approaches about performance and preparation, and why trusting your ear …

But the genius of the Crispi is that its glass fryer tray doubles as a serving tray and a sealable fryer dish. The heating element and fan live in a hat-like unit with clamps that attach to heat-shock-resistant borosilicate glass frying baskets with ceramic-coated trays inside. While the actual “fry” setting can be a little intense, the “bake” setting works perfectly for softer foods like veggies. Either way, the results spoke for …

LG Brought a Robot That Cooks, Folds Laundry and Empties the Dishwasher to CES

Robots that cook and fold laundry have largely remained in the concept/startup phase, with no shortage of highly produced viral videos of humanoid bots making stir-fry or folding laundry in controlled environments; however, the tide may be shifting.  LG, one of the best-known home appliance brands, is set to unveil its first-ever multitasking autonomous home robot, CLOiD, at CES 2026. The launch could mark a major turning point, with blue-chip home appliance brands now feeling compelled to enter the fast-emerging multifunctional home robot market. LG’s home robot with laundry, cooking and dishwasher-emptying skills could mark a major turning point in home robotics.  LG According to the brand, ClOiD is an AI-powered home robot that purports to do far more than vacuum, mop pick up socks. While existing home robots are engineered to perform tasks such as floor cleaning, pool and lawn care, LG’s unique offering utilizes AI and vision-based technology to automate more complex household tasks, such as “retrieving milk from the fridge, placing a croissant in the oven for breakfast and folding and stacking garments after laundering.” Over …
