Bundle up! Frozen 3 is coming. At its D23 fan event on Friday, Disney offered up a first-look at the third entry in its hit franchise, which is set to glide into theaters on Nov. 24, 2027. In the early hours of Wednesday morning August 5 the upper stage of a Falcon 9 rocket crashed into the Moon in an uncontrolled collision. No damage was caused, other than the creation of a new crater several metres in diameter, but the event highlights the increasing problem of space junk left in orbit when it has completed its intended purpose. Natural impacts occur on the Moon daily. On average, Nasa estimates that 33 metric tonnes of meteoroids (space rocks) hit Earth every day, but most of this burns up in the atmosphere before hitting the ground. A smaller proportion make it through and reach the surface as meteorites. Most of the human-made space debris that falls back to Earth also burns up on its way through the atmosphere. The Moon has no atmosphere, so any debris – either natural or human-made – on a collision course will hit the surface. SAN DIEGO (AP) — The U.S. Marine Corps says the pilot of an F-35B stealth fighter is expected to live after ejecting from the jet before it crashed in California. The jet went down Friday near the Miramar air base in San Diego. “The pilot ejected, was transported to a local medical facility in stable condition for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries,” the Marine Corps said in an updated statement. Aerial video from a news helicopter showed a plume of black smoke rising from the wreckage in a dirt field, with multiple military and firefighting vehicles and people standing nearby. What appeared to be white flame retardant covered the ground, and at least one person was spraying the wreckage with a fire hose. Tesla has filed four new “Robotaxi” crash reports with NHTSA, and the most revealing one involves a Tesla remote operator driving the vehicle into a tree stump in Houston. It’s the third crash Tesla has now reported involving a human operating the car remotely caused the collision — and the first one Tesla has formally coded as remote operation in its filing. What the Houston filing says The incident, report 13781-15395, happened in May in Houston. Tesla, one of several businesses owned by now-trillionaire Elon Musk, has been implicated in another deadly crash involving the vehicles’ autopilot driving mode. On June 19, a driver in a Tesla Model 3 crashed into a Texas home, killing a 76-year-old female resident. According to Harris County Sheriff’s authorities, the driver was using “an automated driving assistance system” that failed to remain in its lane and instead veered into the residence at a deadly speed. The driver did not show signs of drug or alcohol impairment, according to reports.
